Early CoB was one of the many reason I got into neoclassical metal. But Alexi got me into neo-classical blackmetal... and his music will live on forever.
* Red light in my eyes pt. 2 * Mozart - Symphony no 25 Confutatis (Requiem) * Hatebreeder * Mozart - Queen of the Night Aria * Red light in my eyes pt. 1 * Bach - Invention no. 13 * Black Widow * Mozart - Concerto no. 20 * The Nail * Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor 💜🖤
Totalmente diferenciado e genial.
Such innovation, and so well executed. Everything falls together beautifully. I was only aware of the Red Light samples, the Bach ones were a surprise!
Hatebreeder is still one of my favorite albums. Even before I knew shit about music, still don't, I said black metal has more in common with classical music than it does with pop music. Then again, I was listening to like CoB and Dimmu Borgir at the time.
I wonder what those composers would say about Metal all in all, but specifically metal that takes parts from classical music. Or when pairing orchestras with metal bands, such with Dimmu Borgir and the Norwegian orchestra!
I used to listen to a classical music station alot. I about shit myself when i heard mozart 25 one night lol i knew it was red light pt 2. But i had no clue who wrote it til years later here on yt lol. Never thought i was gonna hear "bodom" on that station 🤣 i remember just thinking my god alexi turned this into that? What a fucking genius lol
I am cultured, I listen to death metal
If there was 1 band I could listen to forever it is 1000% Children of Bodom
Alexi has a lot of classical influence on him and thats why his playing sounds so classical
It's because he played violin when he was a kid
Wow. I never thought of that before.
A lot of them are done on purpose.

I know metal has subgenres and those subgenres have subgenres but never heard of neoclassical black metal, sounds awesome
This is so wonderful the neo classical elements in guitar always have intrigued me so deeply

Is Downfall completely original? It's an absolute masterpiece.
It is. Of course influences are there, but themes, passages and riffs are his own.

The classical composers was the metalhead of their time
