I am a big fan of Walter Swingle's work. I did not know he created any crosses with kumquats, but I guess now I know.
The context behind this cross was to make a cold-hardy citrus that tasted nice.
Unfortunately, Mr Swingle passed away long ago, but if you ever have something on your channel created by a modern plant breeder, they are generally pretty easy to get in contact with. I think the two most historically important modern plant breeders are Joseph Lofthouse and Michael Mazourek. I'm sure they'd both love to be on your channel, and both have done fruit projects before.

When I was a gardener I had a customer that grew a kumquat tree from seed that was in the same yard as a mandarin and it is the best citrus on the planet I need to go back there and take cuttings from that tree it produced orange size kumquats With sweet rind and sweet flesh

If that is a Thomasville Citrangequat, it is not completely ripe. Wait a month or more and it becomes much sweeter and less sour and bitter, basically like a regular kumquat

I'm trying to create my own hybrid, I've pollinated nagami and meiwa with trifoliate pollen from a "variety" that produces fruit without the bitter notes. I also pollinated a yuzu with that pollen. Hopefully I get a hybrid. Btw I'm based in NJ so would be cool to create a somewhat useable fruit that can survive our winters.

Both red and white dragonfruits sadly tend to be virtually flavourless when picked upripe. And because supermarkets're gonna supermarket, they will only ever sell ones that were picked upripe. If you can find frozen dragonfruit, you can see what they actually taste like (frozen fruit in general tends to be picked more ripe, and contrary to what some food propaganda will have you believe, the food industry is extremely good at freezing stuff these days). Alternatively, if you get lucky enough to find a yellow variety, they tend to be more flavourful.
