It’s sad knowing they don’t sail on the lakes together anymore. It’s hard seeing the barge being scrapped knowing she was a veteran of the lakes for many years. 😢
These ATB combos look weird too me. The pilot house it tiny, and it looks like the crew must have chinsy little cabins too. All I ever hear is they save the companies a lot of money by getting around maritime labor laws. Nobody has ever explained it at length (at least no places I've found).
On this boat there was cabins in the forward area of the barge but due to regulations were removed this winter and they added more cabin space on the tug

The bunk rooms are just as filthy as the outside. I wish crew members were more clean in their bunks.
Up bound and beautiful!!!

right? especially when they gut an old freighter and ram a tug up its rear, it just doesn't look right.
Does anyone know if an elevator is used to get people to the top of the pilot house?
Pushing the Michigan Trader now
nice shipspotting video
Formerly known as the Marine Robin.
Parts of her are made from the scrapped Marine Robin.. but it's a stretch to call them the same ship..
