Ryan, the way you explain the what and how of building a sign is much appreciated sir. That was a great sign you just made. Thank you for all of your video's.
Ryan, you and Eric make it look so easy. I am just starting out, with hopes to becomming ok at it, if not better. Time and practice is what i am telling myself. Great job!
Thanks Denise! It would take hundreds of uses to gunk up one of the stencils, and if it does eventually, you can clean them with paint thinner. So really, unless you lose it or break it, it'll last for a long time
Nice job, I'm glad you showed how you glued it up. I have a couple of ones to do and wasn't sure if I needed to biscuit them or dowel them together. Nice to see i can just glue them together. Thanks!!
Very nice sign. It's good to see that there are still people making signs freehand since CNC machines have completely taken over sign making. It's interesting that you didn't run the boards through a jointer.
I agree. CNC can do some cool stuff, but I consider it a computer skill not a woodworking skill. When we need to we use the jointer, but on this one it wasn't necessary
I absolutely love how this sign turned out!!! Your "Tree of Life" stencil is awesome and really made the sign look stunning. Great narration throughout the video Ryan!
Looks really good guys $40 for supplies and the price tag at $500 people don't realize how much work it takes before you even start carving remember to explain that to a customer I take pictures to show how much goes into a project so they understand.. have a great day
Looks awesome. I've never done this sort of thing but I'm intrigued by this process now that I'm retired. I've subscribed and watched a good few videos but I've always wondered why you use battery-powered routers. Is it because the cord could get in the way when using the electric ones?
Hey John, we have bases for multiple different routers, and a blank on that'll fit any router. You just gotta drill your own holes. You can check them out here makeawoodsign.com
Looks great! Two questions: Did you chamfer the back edge? I know you aren't big on that and your dad is! lol Also, how is the customer going to hang it? Just curious if you ask that and supply parts or just leave it to them.
Hey Greg, on this one I did chamfer the back. Dad has kinda changed my view on that haha I gave him a French clete, but didn't attach it to the sign so he could hang it a different way if he wanted
Howdy Mr. Ryan... Loved the sign. Can't believe the charge was $500 though, I'm gonna have to go back and watch yalls "How much do I charge" video 😅. I can't agree with your use of wearing gloves while using the tablesaw though, that's a No No. 😮 I remember using Zar products LONG LONG time ago (like 30 years ago) when I worked at a Nude furniture store (I was about 18 or 19). LOVED Zar products. Wayyy better than watery Minwax stuff. But the stores stopped selling them. I figured they went out of business. In the video, you show that you sprayed the backside of the sign then flipped it over....stupid question maybe, but was there a drying time before you flipped it over? Loved the video.
Hey Mike! The Zar did a great job! We didn't really allow for drying time on the back of the sign before we flipped it over to spray the front. There's really no need to unless you're carving a double sided sign and both sides have to have a flawless finish

Thanks Randal! I was really happy with how it turned out and so was the customer
I think you're right, the customer will be well pleased with his sign...Great Video !!
Thanks Gary!

Thanks Tim! Man, after a little practice you'll be shocked how quickly you get good at it
A beautiful sign and a superb narration that took time to stop and explain key points along the way.
Thanks Henry! I really appreciate that buddy👍👍
Love the way that sign turned out.
Thanks Monte!
Awesome job Ryan and Eric!! Beautiful sign!♥️
Thanks buddy!👍👍
well done Ryan
Thanks Burt!
Now that’s what you call CRAFTSMANSHIP!!!
Thank you!👍👍
Sogn looks great. Do the stencils like the tree of life get gunked up with the spray paint? How many uses do you get out of it?
Thanks Denise! It would take hundreds of uses to gunk up one of the stencils, and if it does eventually, you can clean them with paint thinner. So really, unless you lose it or break it, it'll last for a long time
Wow that's absolutely beautiful!
Thanks buddy!
good point for using the western letters as always awesome video
Thanks Toby!
That sign looks amazing.
Thanks Mark!
Nice job, I'm glad you showed how you glued it up. I have a couple of ones to do and wasn't sure if I needed to biscuit them or dowel them together. Nice to see i can just glue them together. Thanks!!
Any time, man! Glue works great, there's really no need for biscuits or dowels unless there's gonna be a lot of pressure on it.
👍👍👍 Looks great. Thanks Boys
Any time, man!
Nice! Great job Ryan and Eric!
Thanks Scott!
Looks great. I never heard of that finish....🤘🤘🤘

Loved this video, got to get myself some stencil kits. Hobby Lobby?
Actually, we make and sell them. You can find hundreds of different stencils, templates, and letter sets. Plus router bits at makeawoodsign.com
Nice job
Thanks Roger👍👍
Beautiful
Thanks Linda!

They're just a little more convenient, and the cord doesn't get in the way of filming.
Excellent video
Thanks David!
The acrylic base that you have, will have fit any router model? Is that universal?
I have an old craftsman router fixed base.
John they sell blank acrylic meaning no holes they have a video on drilling the base for your router
Hey John, we have bases for multiple different routers, and a blank on that'll fit any router. You just gotta drill your own holes. You can check them out here makeawoodsign.com
Thanks Toby! Good looking out, buddy👊👊
2x6s are okay that wide dont have to rip to smaller width?
No, they're good to go. But I wouldn't go any bigger than that
BEAUTIFUL sign. nice job guys. always fun watching you carve.
Thanks Emil!👍👍
Looks great!

Where do you get 2x6 red wood for $15 from
Home Depot down here in Az
Do you sand between clear coats?
Yes, usually we do a light sand with 220 grit every 2nd or 3rd coat
Why are you using 4 routers on this project?
We have a different bit in each router. It's a lot faster than changing bits. Plus, dad has an addiction to buying router HAHA
Nice
Thanks Robert!
Hey brother which video did you and your dad did with the formula on how to charge for a sign?
I think this is the one ruclips.net/video/X82vDC1FMEI/видео.html
@@oldave100 thank you
Looks nice. Shipping probably not cheap.
Luckily, I was driving back to CA so it didn't cost a dime
