Hey guys. What do you think? 6,200 nits peak is wild, right? How do you think it will do in the studio? Also, apologies for accidentally omitting the 98” QM8 in the graphic. It is currently $6,000
I really don't care for this brightness focus. Size and well controlled high mini-LED count do interest me as a projector replacement in a light controlled room. Even 100nits (full screen) can be blinding on a giant screen in that setting. I hope to see ~120" TVs focusing on picture quality and standard 1000 nit peak brightness.
I would definitely go for the 6,200 nits if the full screen brightness was 6,200 nits the whole time with the option to turn on the 6,200 nits like a brightness settings on a flashlight.
I have the 2023 qm8 and always find my self lowering the brightness at night time because it is oh so bright. This years model has 5K nits and 5K dimming zones. Whoa.
Unrelated but I just bought the u7k. Thanks so much for the review fam it is amazing. I haven't bought a TV since 2018, back then I bought a 50" Vizio with only 1080p. This thing is just crazy. Glad I could get a professional opinion on what to get
Have a wonderful vacation! I can't wait to see what the QM8 is capable of. If it is as good as I think it will be, it will be in my living room as soon as it is released.
Fantastic episode, Caleb. Enjoy your well deserved vacation. REST, brother. Thank you for all you do within our Nit Nerd Community (TM), as always! Hands down, some of the best content on RUclips!
Happy vacations! I really hope you have a wonderful time, so you can come back reinvigorated, so you can provide the quality content we have grown accustomed to.
Caleb, one interesting thing to cover in your upcoming review of 115 inch QM8 would be how immersive the picture is particularly for movies. Can it easily beat the best projector available in the market? That'd be interesting to know.
What version is the OS on? Mine from 2021 is on 9, while Android TV is up to 13. My one and only security patch is from 2020! Lots of oohs and ahs on the new sets but no one doing updates on older sets from that company it seems. Sony, Samsung, LG, etc. on the other hand...
I hve been using TCL 4K HDR 65 inch last 5 years, very satisfying viewing experience😅. But occasionally when ever I visited electronic shops I felt LG or Samsung panels are better 😅
I am with you on the needing a vacation lol, you definitely been grinding as usual so definitely go get that vacation and enjoy it! I plan to take one myself after I review the Sony Bravia 9
Do you have one on order? Looking forward to the 4K streams lol. Did you see the "Post76" (YT name) Chinese review of the Bravia 9. Had some cool movie footage in it. How can he do that without getting copyright claims. I wonder if it is possible to show if the clips are only 5-10 seconds long?
Definitely looking forward to the reviews of the updated QM Series models. Was looking at purchasing a 2023 Samsung OLED (S90c 77 inch) but holding off until I watch the reviews on the new QM7 and QM8.
I love your nit nerds segments but maybe you can add a section related to realistic viewing like streaming and Blu-ray etc. I see all these crazy numbers but when you are only watching Netflix level HDR a lot of the TVs look very similar
I'm looking for a new 85" TCL and was going to go with last years QM8 series since it is at such a good price. Do you think this years models will blow it away or do you think for the money the 2023 models are still good?
Please discuss viewing angles of 98 and 115 inch Tvs. Last year's qm8 models had very poor viewing angles, very narrow. Hopefully they are considerably improved.
I wish manufacturers would keep model names across markets. In Australia the TCL lineup is C655 C755 C855 etc etc. I always have to ‘figure out’ what TV Caleb is reviewing! Unless he could put up a screen grab of the model names while reviewing to make our lives easier?
Welp I couldn't wait any longer for the QM851g Full Review. I was hoping to see how it compared to Hisense U9N that isn't released yet. Amazon dropped the price on the 75QM851G for a limited time probably for Prime Day to $1,499.00. I couldn't resist. This will replace my 2019 TCL Series 6 4k TV. I've religiously watched your reviews for the past few years and TCL always gets solid positive reviews from you. Thanks for all you do Mr. Caleb for us Nit Nerds!!!
Is there anywhere to see the number of zones per screen size in TCL's new line of TVs? I would assume the zones advertised are only for the largest models
When can we expect the 115” review? I am seriously considering getting it at my local Best Buy unless your review is disappointing. TV is arriving soon. I need your review!
Great video as usual Caleb one question is it worth moving up from the 6 series but anyway have a great vacation get the nerd stuff out of your head and have fun
I mostly watch RUclips via a PC connected to my 82" QLED TV. I bought that TV in late 2019 and I really do love it. But loving my current TV doesn't mean I don't find myself coveting bigger and better TVs. A 115" TV with a great picture? I just used a tape measure to see how much bigger a 115" screen would be than my 82" TV. Wow. TVs might get better, but I doubt they will get much bigger for quite a long time. But is that TV is worth $20,000? After a year with an 82" TV in my living room, I decided that the 55" in my bedroom was too small and upgraded that TV to 82" as well. But I will not be buying a second 115" TV for my bedroom. If I move later this year, I will seriously consider upgrading to this TV. If I do, I will almost certainly pay to have it wall-mounted. Does this TV come with something like the Samsung One Connect box? That would probably be more convenient than reaching behind a wall-mounted TV to plug in HDMI cables.
Hello, great video 📹 👍 I want to buy a tv here in Europe, but i'm confused between the TCL Q7 supporting Google tv and Hisense U7 that's supporting Vidaa tv here in Europe 🇪🇺. Any help on mini led tv please?
Very interested in how the 75" QM8 stacks up vs a 77" S90D in a wide-seating living room with windows watching YT TV, YT, and some 4k HDR streaming movies. I think OLED may win, but brightness likely goes to the QM8 and it's $500 less, so if viewing angles are pretty good and processing on par, the QM8 may be better choice.
Of course the OLED will win. The S90D would also give you the benefit of lasting like 3x as long or maybe even longer because it's not from a garbage brand.
are there just different naming conversions in europe models or are they different tvs? I am looking at 65C855 and it looks extremely similar to the QM8, but I have not find any definite answer, are they the same?!?
TCL for the win!! That's awesome. While I hope I don't find myself in the need to buy a new TV, this seems like the year to do it. Great prices, great quality. Excited to see what else comes in the coming years.
What version of the Android TV OS is the newest TCL on? I'm getting tired of looking at my set with version 9, knowing that up to 13 has been released. Also, TCL seems to be lacking in any security updates. My 2021 model is stuck on a security patch from 2020! What do other Android TVs from other companies say? Are they all this lax?
I still greatly enjoy my 2023 qm8 but I hope that tcl starts doing a better job of software updates for their hdtvs. I think there has only been 1 update so far with last year's model. 1 software update after almost an entire year is totally ridiculous.
I would definitely go for a 6,200 nits brightness if there was an option to turn on the brightness based on the number of nits on the 4k mini led tv. For example, the nits number would show a number when the display brightness and back light shows when they are increased and decreased. I would have the full screen brightness at 6,200 if that option was available. The one plus 12 android phone peak brightness is 4,500 nits. Unfortunately, it applies for outdoor use but I was hoping to achieve indoor brightness be 4,500 nits indoors as well on manual brightness settings not with autobrightness since the display is oled. There is no option to disable the auto brightness limiter on smartphones with oled displays. I know it's to prevent burn in that's why the max brightness is for outdoor use. I max out the brightness sliders in manual mode on purpose 24/7 even indoors since I been used to using very bright displays. Only certain phones have the option to enable extra brightness to work indoors. I have my old one plus one android phone with the back light and brightness sliders maxed out. I have outdoor mode enabled indoors to increase the max brightness to bypass the limit of the phones screen brightness and back light of the phone. The display brightness and back light gets cranked to the point that the colors are washed out. Even older android phones used to have outdoor mode back in 2018. I mentioned older android phones because they get very bright with newer phones but the older phones did not limit the display brightness and back light since they can be turned on and off in the display settings.
