Can this Land Rover do it? Defender 130 as a UK 5th Wheel RV Hauler - Towing an RV with UK Defender

- Hi Everyone!
A customer came to us with a beautiful, modded and decked-out Defender 130 that he is now using to tow a UK 5th wheel around England's roads. We had our reservations as to whether she could do it, but we fitted the hitch, he hooked-up and was happy.
As is par for the course we do tests on site with lock-turns, reversing tight left and right, pulling away under load etc and we have to say the Defender seemed to do OK. We've asked for a report if he hits Wales, Devon, Cornwall, the Lake District or Scotland... We'll keep you posted in the comments if we hear back!

Interesting, I see this question asked a lot on different groups if you can tow fifth wheels with a defender, I was also going to ask if it could tow a USA 5er like a Rockwood etc.
The enthusiasts will say the defender is a better truck than a Ford Ranger we have driven both the defender is for the enthusiast. They’re not as refined as a Ranger a couple hundred miles driving and you’ll be knackered trying to keep it in straight line and they don’t have the power on the hills, if you’re not a defender nerd stick with a Ford Ranger is the best Truck round at the moment for towing and using as a car all the best Paul
Great answer Paul, thank you, definitely didn’t want a defender I was just curious as seen the question asked, we love our Ranger and it does a great job. Would be interesting though to see how well the newer 3.0 bi turbo does the job. 👍

Not really sure if it’s got the power even to tow that globe stormer to be honest I know the Landrover defenders say they’re the best but everyone we’ve ever put on a defender the engine has blown up is when they get to the hills it kills the engine thanks for following the channel all the best Paul
