    I have done several of these rethreadings and found that it really pays off to work on a pulled-off head. It s as simple as taking out 6 bolts and will eliminate the risk of great damage resulting from a leftover chard in the cylinder or of hitting the piston with the tool. It also smplifies clean-up. In a nutshell, t makes the job easier and faster. Regards !

    Man this video was very helpful. NEVER KNEW these parts were available. I fix my own cars and anything I get my hands on and I have never seen this kit in the parts store or heard anyone recommend getting it as a solution for that particular problem where I live.
    Either the parts stores are too stupid to know about it or they just prefer that people go buy a whole new head or engine.
    The corruption is deep. Again thank you for the tip. This is the better replacement part for the job. Do good work and achieve God results.

    I’ve used helicoils in the past. Great invention. Got an Evinrude 15 like yours, little newer maybe.Those are really kick butt little motors. It will plane a 14’er with 2 fisherman, and only weighs 75#. Perfect.

    I thought Helicoil was all there was! This is good to know. Ford F150 blew out a sparkplug on my Father's truck. We used Helicoil. Wish we had known about this...

    Fantastic video!
    I admire your handiwork style.
    I too work on outboards and build boats as a hobby.
    Very well done indeed.
    Only comment is I would have done the carb rebuild right away, why not fire air fuel!
    Need them all. Sea foam is a bandaid not a fix in my opinion.
    Great job however!

    I have a 90hp mercury on my 2019 suntracker. I had purchased it from the marina rental company. It ran flawless last summer, took it in for some basic winter/seasonal maintenance and the tech called us and informed me whomever performed service on the motor sort of stripped a plug but the new plug went in tightly, but its still running strong. This isnt something I would try to accomplish on my own what do you think a boat motor service center would charge for this type of service? The service folks I took it to saidthey dont do helicoils.

    Michael. Have you ever done a engine swap from a steering to a tiller video I watch This Old Outboard and he did it w/o disassembling it. He does really show close ups like you do. So if you have a video please reference it. Thanks Rick

      That's a strange one for sure, what shape is the plug wire in? that would be my first check, swap wires and see if the problem moves.

      @sideburn410 3 года назад

      make sure the plug wires are not grounding out on the motor covers metal locking handle on the inside.

      @@Michaelsbackyardmarinawould have been better idea to use a chop stick with a little grease on the end, to pick up those shavings on top of the piston. Then follow up with compressed air.
