God is good! I came across this 3 year old video when I was searching RUclips for an evening devotional. I placed my phone screen side down as I was getting my tea off of the bed side table when this video started playing by itself. It was such a blessing and so encouraging. It still amazes me every day the miracles he can perform and the way he uses every day things in our life to bless us and speak to us. Wanted to share this testimony so that all may he encouraged through it. Goodnight and God bless you all.

I found this video this morning. I needed to hear this. I had a bad fall from a ladder in December and am my recovery is slow and I have been in incredible pain as I am just beginning to walk again. I have been wanting to give up and check out. This crushing injury will never be completely better and I'm so discouraged. I'm tired of the pain and want to check out. A couple of weeks ago I hit rock bottom, I ended up breaking down in my kitchen and I felt him come to me and just let me know everything was gonna be okay. So I’ve been trying to serve him better. Starting each day with the Lord and prayer. Just trying to do better with every aspect of my life. I was sitting here and needed some words, and I found your channel. I happened on to your channel looking for a devotional and started with 'Having a Quiet Time with the Lord' and I like the clarity in which you speak and the gentleness of your voice. I have a question about 'Soaking in Prayer' (at 3:15) you mention in this video. I heard what not to be saying (e.g. not my list of needs/wants) but is there something I should be saying - or- do I just sit quietly and say nothing? And how does one do this without having the mind wander...which I find really frustrating, thinking random non-applicable non-sense. Thank you Whitney...btw - you're not just reaching 30 somethings :) Then Lord has definitely called you to reach female ages and what not
This is a great question! I always start by just closing my eyes and saying, “Lord, my heart is open if there’s anything You’d like to speak to me.” And then I sit and wait! Sometimes, He doesn’t “say” anything. I put say in quotations because it’s not an audible voice. It’s a knowing in my spirit deep inside, or a picture I see in my mind. Remember that everything has to be confirmed by scripture too, so if it goes against the word of God… It’s not from God! Don’t worry if your mind wanders. That part takes practice! Just bring your attention back to the quietness of your spirit and wait. If he doesn’t say anything at all, don’t worry! What you’ve been doing is sitting with your father, which grows your relationship deeper with him because time spent equals a deeper connection. I believe that you will hear from him though, because you’re being obedient to seek his face! He will honor that! Thank you so much for watching and keep the questions coming!

This message was very timely for me and I subscribed. Maybe you can help me by answering this, for many years I have felt I do not have specific promises given to me by God, so when I hear this in messages I feel a little lost. I don't know if these promises are just general ones everyone has received in Christ as believers or if you are meaning specific promises to each person from God regarding their life, walk and or situation? I ask because I don't know what promises I am looking forward to. I don't know what promises I can expect to have a breakthrough over? I know what I am praying for but I haven't received any confirmation that those things have been promised to me. Yes they are good things that aren't worldly and are needs but I don't want to foolishly believe God has promised me these things & that I should be expecting them on the horizon. I don't know how to discern what these promises are or what I should be looking forward to. I am just living in obedience right now not knowing what the future holds or what I can have hope for in the future because I haven't heard anything from God about that. I don't know if I am making sense. I am not questioning what you are saying I believe this message is righteous and Godly I am asking for clarification because I feel left out and I know He doesn't exclude any of His children, I know He loves me I just don't know what I am waiting for from Him or in Him..?? Jenn, thank you for asking this question. It’s an important one! I was just having a conversation with my husband last night about what it means to be a child of God. We were discussing our daughter, who turns eight this year, and has asked to get her ears pierced. We have decided that she is old enough now and that it would be a great gift for her birthday! As her parents, we want her to be excited about the hope that she will get her ears pierced for her birthday, not afraid that we’re going to snatch that gift away from her when the time comes. It works the same way in the kingdom of God. God is our heavenly father. He knows all the desires of our hearts, even the worldly, earthly things. Those things are important to Him too! You have the mind of Christ. If you are walking in obedience and saturating yourself in scripture and prayer, then more than likely, the things you’re hoping for are aligned with His will! I’m not saying that they’re promises, but He is a good father, and I want you to think about the situation from a childlike perspective, like my daughter. I know that she wants her ears pierced. I’m going to give her that gift because I love her and want to see her happy. God has those kinds of gifts stored up for ALL of His children, and He wants us to be hopeful for those gifts and blessings. Additionally, there are HUNDREDS of promises in the Bible that are available to ALL Believers. Just google “the promises of God” and you’ll see tons of lists and PDFs of scripture verses that you can declare (pray out loud with faith) over your life. I know this was a long answer and I hope I made sense too! But you are not left out; God sees you and loves you and wants to encourage you to keep praying for that thing you’ve been hoping for! ❤️ Thank you for watching!
