I always appreciated seeing the Trash/Garbage games. It's like he's embodying the sound of Yellow from the Pokemon manga and using first evolution mons for his teams much like they did.
Abra still seems kind of broken. That's a ton of Special Attack and Speed. I guess I'll see what happens later, but for now, I can easily imagine it sweeping Bruno or Koga.
JRose beat the first generation games with only an abra and aside from Brock which took like 10 hours to grind enough to beat, abra is extremely powerful. A little bit less in leaf green now that counters to psychic exist and special defense is lower, but the counters are still very rare and the special defense wasn't too important. He finished it at level 62, which is 3 below the champion's strongest pokemon, so even considering the level cap it works.
JRose does not nuzlocke though, and usually there is a good bit of RNG involved in his eventual victories. That said, it is indeed a good indicator that abra is a very solid option once you can the psychic TM.
I mean, having access to just a growlithe is /something/ for your tool kit, whereas a banned arcanine does actually nothing. No kadabra abra is still a half decent special attacker with psychic and decent speed/special for example (tho I don't really know if it's worth the one TM you get...).
TBH the thought of making it so that your moves are nerfed while the opponents aren't is really uh, not great. Sure Surf has great power normally, but with your trash mons you're not gonna be able to take advantage of that beyond slightly better STAB for a goldeen.

You also miss out on a ton of great first stage and middle stage evolutions if you don’t include them. In v1 of this game, Weepinbell and Gloom swept 2 e4 members. Abra could too, and Chinchou came really close. Obviously their evolved forms were way too good for this game but their inclusion allows us to expand the pokedex with usable pokemon that don’t break the game. Otherwise you have FAR less encounter variety, like 50% of your encounters every run would be the same earlygame
Is there a reason why you never play fan games other than difficulty hacks ? You are missing out so much. Pokemon Xenoverse is a masterpiece of new pokemon content and could be fun to nuzlocke
I'll ask him for you
He doesn't like to play games with fakemons iirc
@@vtmagno23 if that's the case i wonder if he would ever nuzlocke unbound, thats has no fakemon as far as i know
Dunno why you would add things like disable overleveling or only set mode, when everyone can do those rules self-imposed. It just hinders (weaker/casual) players from playing the game.

LETS GOOOO
!garbage green
man gotta keep the psn damage outside of battle
thats like half the fun of fr/lg nuzlockes tbh
maybe make antidotes available in every shop but very expensive
Poison is way scarier in this game than in any vanilla game. Trust me.
@@spegasparce1389 yea i figured
tho its just an integral mechanic of pkmn (and it was really uncool to take it away in later generations)
wouldve been better to add workarounds rather than take it out entirely imo
❤️
Garbage Green hype
I feel like this challenge is going to suck major ass just like half lvl cap, hope he drops it soon.Would like to see sth like Vintage White or sum
He already beat vintage white
Where have you been dude he's been uploading vintage white videos for like 4 months
Literally the last video is a vintage white one
He just "blew" Vintage White in the last video. Where the fuxk were you?
i agree, vanilla games are just so boring imo
I'm probably a minority, but I really dislike watching/playing trashlockes. Everything just feels super underwhelming and there's no real impactful shock factor that I usually get from watching Jan's videos/streams when something doesn't go as planned. With mons this weak it's difficult to formulate a consistent and solid plan so these "shock-factors" lose their value to me when they're so occurrent. Just my opinion, I like the content you come out with for the most part but I will likely not be watching this. Best of luck in your completion of it.
I had to use Paras/Parasect in some roms and seems good/decent, unless they nerfed the moves too much (?)
I'm pretty sure they nerfed spore
@@HeracrossTheGreek zero move nerfs other than HMs in BP, disabling stealing items, and sketch not sketching baton pass. Pp is nerfed though
@@spegasparce1389 Oh alright. I remember hearing it would be nerfed to have sleep Powder's accuracy but I guess that was just a thought
So you really cheesed Emerald Trashlocke with Smeargle and decided to put it in again
Got a problem?
I guess he couldn't figure out anything else to put in its place.
@@stellarknight04 well I dont know about the availability of setup moves and spore, but with them smeargle is absolutely broken and makes almost every fight free, without them its fine
@@gigalodon14 pretty sure he would never put paras in wild areas if it was a starter pokemon, so if he wanted to sketch spore he'll basically need to sac his paras/parasect by poisoning it to low HP and sporing a wild pokemon with the paras/parasect fainting in the same turn, so that smeargle comes and sketches the spore that was used.
@@gigalodon14 but overall i think smeargle is pretty mid and awful if it has no speed
Hopefully victory road wont require leech seed or giga drain like the Beta, it seemed really difficult when Jan played it last.
So this is still in Beta. Jan wanted everyone else to test what was OP and remove it, then have him decide what was too difficult and needed to be changed. So Jan will decide what needs to be made easier. Victory Road might be one of those
@@spegasparce1389 oh ok, I see. That's a good idea, I can't wait to play the finished rom, the concept behind it is great.
If you're not nuzlocking and die to a trainer in a gauntlet, do you have to fight them all again?
@@DangoKaizoki Persumably the game is set up to cater for non nuzlockers as well,
No. The trainers don’t reset if you wipe. It is clearly designed for nuzlocking but if non nuzlockers want to feel the gauntlet pressure they should soft reset after wiping
I’ve been so excited for this can’t wait to play it
I love smeargle and teddiursa
Understand why they are trash but cool mons
Wait a sec if the Deepseatooth is in the game Clamperl might actually be a GOATed encounter.
Rule of thumb.
If it would make a pokemon super good, it probably isn't in the game.
