No disrespect to French whisperer, he's got good content too, but I prefer this. Your voice is rich, deep, and smooth, like if a glass of wine could talk me into a satin armchair and threaten to sacrifice my blood at the same time, but in a good way.
Hi, French Whisperer recommended you and I'm *so* glad he did. I'd never have known about you otherwise--the algorithm has never once brought you to my attention before. Your content is quality all around and you deserve many more subscribers. I see you've been doing this for a while now, without much attention, and I hope you keep it up in spite of that...because I'm a big fan!
Well, thanks to our fine French friend, I too have stumbled upon your works. I have never been to enthralled by the subject matter of an ASMR video, your knowledge and delivery is impressive and captivating respectively. Instant subscription, my sincerest thanks for producing this wonderful content!
I've been binge-listening your content for a few days now and I'm really impressed with your content! I also love your cadence, your use of AND and the crisp "s" sounds. Thanks from Germany!
This was amazing, I absolutely love your voice and feel that this is a beautifully articulated description of goth, where it came from and what it is today. Thank you. X
Thank you! There's a new video in the pipeline... it's taking me a long time to make, because I have health issues at the moment, but I'm hoping to have it up by the end of next week :)
I never realized how much I wanted this until I saw the title. It's amusing that the person who usually narrates upper-class buildings in a posh RP accent was a goth. Brian Aldiss in "Billion Year Spree" claims "Frankenstein" was the first science-fiction novel, because it used pseudoscience rather than magic or spirits. I was one of a number of skinheads in goth/industrial clubs so I saw a lot of overlap. And darkwave bands seem to be the only ones holding up the 1980s new-wave rythms I've always liked. It''s so dark it's hard not to call it "goth", because strictly speaking I'm still not a goth and don't like the most gothic features (flowing music, vampires, 18th-century costumes, dark lyrics), but it's hard not to call what I do like "goth" because it's so emneshed in it.
Well, my thought is, if you want to identify as a goth - even if you don't like most conventional gothic features - then you should. And if you don't want to, then don't. The joy of it is, it's an inclusive enough cultural movement to embrace all of us who feel an affinity with it :) I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
The ASMRtist who inspired me - and who puts out fabulous history and culture content - is The French Whisperer. I can't recommend him enough, his talks are brilliant. Otherwise, I hope you find some of my other videos enjoyable... and I'll be back later on in the autumn, with some new content 🙂
@@SoundsCurious When I saw this video I subscribed to you quickly! I also just watched the Wimbledon video. Keep up the great work and thank you for pointing me in the direction of The French Whisperer, Ill check him out too
Love your narration style! Aside from a few “uhm” and “eeh” you sound like an outright professional. I just wish you could interpose some pauses once in a while, where it’s absolutely quiet for a few seconds. That would intensify the ASMR effect. Looking forward to your next upload.
You might want to check out some of my early videos, which were scripted, so they are less casual in their delivery - and I think the pauses might be slightly longer, too, on some of them at least. The French Whisperer gave me early advice to ditch the scripts and speak in a less 'polished' way (because yes, I do sometimes record professional audiobooks), so that's what I've done... and with that comes the 'uhms' that occur when I'm thinking! Also, my pauses tend to be shorter when I'm speaking off the cuff - so those earlier videos might appeal to you. Thanks for the support and constructive feedback.
I've always tended to think of it as more Expressionist than Gothic - but yes, I can absolutely see how it could be a cultural influence for modern Goths!
True, I didn't touch on modern gothic cinema! I had to cut so much out, though... my original research notes had twice as many areas to discuss, but there was just too much to fit into one talk!
In the very early days there was no significant differences between the Ostrogoths and the Visigoths. They considered themselves "The Goths" and the prefixes Ostro(meaning Eastern) and Visi(meaning Western) were only added later after they had settled in different regions. The Goths were just like any other of 1000 tribes the Roman Empire faced they jus happened to come to prominence at the perfect time to fill in the gaps left behind by the Romans allowing for this specialisation, that other tribes like Batavii, Nervii or Belgii.
Goth punks Killing Joke took the goth idea of pre-rational barbarianism and repurposed it for comment on fascism, asking the question 'could an enlightened world commit such crime as the holocaust'?
Soft spoken? Lol! Who's idea was this? Lecturers hardly need any help putting people to sleep! A talk of some substance, though, that's what I want so, good deal. Probably shouldn't smoke a joint before listening to this, huh?
The audio quality, voice, diction, and content of your ASMR videos are among the best I've ever watched. Thanks. Well done!
Thanks so much for your support - glad you're enjoying the channel!
Came here from the French whisperer

This is the best short explanation of all things Gothic that anyone could hope for. Simply wonderful.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I came from the French whisperer as well :) I love your style and content. Thank you 😊

I'm not Lina Grace, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! As a Lina fan, you might also enjoy my video on 'Deeeep Relaxation' that I made last month :)
This is brilliant. Anybody know of other ASMR channels that make content about history and culture?

Any thoughts on Dr Caligari?

Ahora una versión en español (También vine por The French Wishperer)
Lamentablemente, no tengo las habilidades multilingües de The French Whisperer ... ¡pero gracias por escuchar!

Perhaps I should ask them for a job! :-D

Absolutely! 😂😂😂
Do you do TV? You should do TV... XD
Never done TV! Lots of stage work and the occasional audiobook :)
Why can’t they do online classes like this 😂
Because the students would fall asleep? 😂

It is rather annoying how much you say annnd in the first couple minutes if this continues throughout this I don't think I will make it to the end.
