I was totally unaware Charley did this! I was lucky enough to find a few autographs of his a while back, did not realize he had connections to baseball! Thanks for sharing!
Some players play 20 years for a team and don't have their number retired..Charley pride has a batting practice and you think number should be retired??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Too bad Charlie didn’t play for the Rangers that year. That was the year that Billy Martin almost led the Rangers to a division title after they had been at the bottom of the A.L. West their first two years in the metroplex.
I love Charley Pride and got all his records but I can see why he never made it in the majors. That swing is all off. That’s the most unnatural swing I’ve ever saw. Ya gotta put your whole body into the swing and rotate your hips too.
Rest In Peace Charley Pride 🙏🕊️
Charley loved the Rangers - he was a great fan.
He has been part owner of the Rangers for a while.
One of the ALL-TIME, CLASS-ACTS in American entertainment.
Did not know his baseball ambitions. Loved his music. RIP Charley Pride.
I love and miss ol Charley he was a good man and great singer one of the best country singers in his day. His music will carry on forever.
Charley Pride Bobblehead night at the game tonight, April 15, 2022. The 50th anniversary of the 1st Texas Rangers game in 1972.

RIP LEGEND!!
he broke the unwritten rule by running over the mound when he the pinch runner was called in. Did Jim yell at him? lol
No ...Palmer threw him the ball
😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇🤙🏽
I think the Rangers should retire Charley's number 71 jersey. That's just me.

Charlie was 40 yrs old at the time. Cut him a break.
yeah, cut him a break. He was out there to have fun and maybe get some exercise, not to make the baseball team
Such wise words too. Sometimes trying too hard makes you your own worst enemy
I believe Charlie was a minor leaguer or a Negro Leaguer. God bless him!
RIP, legend.
