A little spice in the flight! Glad you made a perfect landing. I'll enjoy watching your repair procedure. I'm sure it will be more pleasant than my recollection of changing jug number seven on a DC-3 outdoors in the winter in Timmins, Ontario. Stay well!
I had an engine failure due to a blown cylinder on my first trip as a DC3 captain. Poor engineers had to change the cylinder in the pouring rain in Stavanger and then ride home in the back of the aircraft. It was a freighter so not very comfortable for them.
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair Glorious days! I look back on them fondly. *NOW.* Looking forward to the next installment of *this* adventure! Best wishes to you!
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair Also, back then, we could "get away" with a lot of things that would be frowned upon today. Like riding on cargo in a DC-3! LOL Seat belts? Never heard of her!
Just subbed as me and my son sit in the cafe at bodmin Airfield watching you do touch n goes. Found your channel while doing a Google search on your aircraft.
Making a habit of gliding in to land. Glad to hear you and FT are both okay. Model coming on. Question, is there any dihedral on FT? If so what? Thanks.
Another great video and a great save in that landing. Delighted to see you have a Thrustere TST. I learned to fly in one of these and owned one for over 10 years. I subsiquently rebuilt many over the years and being a BMAS inspector got the chance to insect and fly many of them. Great fun aircraft. Whats the reg of yours as I may well have flown it. All the best, Mark.
Mine is G-MTUC. It was at Davidstow for many years but has since been rebuilt and has new skins. I see one of your films shows Piper Cub G-BJAF. I ferried it from Craymarsh Farm when Phil sold it in 1993. He must have missed it as he bought it again in 1996!
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair . Yes he did miss it and did indeed buy it back. Poor Phil is in a home now.G -BJAF is still at Crays owned by a local lad. I have a pic of G-MTUC when it was at Davidstow. Think it used to be Blue and Red.
@@AUSTIN-1100 Yes, it was blue and white. Was laid up for several years but all nice and dry, after an engine failure with a previous owner. The fuel was contaminated with dirt; little wonder the engine stopped? The tank now has a proper drain valve. I don't really use the Thruster enough (mainly because of work and other flying) but most microlights have become as dull as dishwater with tricycle undercarriage and self-starters. All a bit namby-pamby for my liking.
@@robertklein1316 In this particular case, it would have been somewhat pointless. I merely landed on the grass to the side of the runway. 'Aviate, Navigate, Communicate' is the order of priority. Unnecessary radio guff is to be avoided.
Yeah, Buy the ticket take the ride. Good quote and great attitude. I loved that man's work.
"didn't let the engine failure spoil lunch."
LOL😅😂

Glad you had your engine failure over the airport. Great little Aeronca! Looking forward to seeing the repair.
Thanks for the update, glad you're ok.

@@ChubbyAnts I've been there this morning. Welcome!
Thrusters remind me of mopeds when we were 16. They are great fun, but you don't want to see your friends when your in it.
Haha, I like mopeds too!
Bummer. I'm sure you'll sort it soon. These things always seem to happen in the winter leading to freezing hands and more stress.
All fixed
If you fly vintage aircraft, expect something to break. You won't be disappointed.
Good luck - probably a stuck valve? Had one on the Ercoupe recently. Didn't stop the engine dead though.
Only two cylinders, the other one hasn't got enough oomph to keep the motor going!
My instructor would use to say I was way to high as we were getting close to the airport. I would answer: yes, I plan on making it to the airport.
You can never be too high - just like Keith Richards!

Isn't it proper when the propeller stops in fight, to announce MAYDAY 3 times.
