Brig Devinder Singh had to go to court to clear his name. But because of his moral courage, he saved precious Indian Soldiers lives. I would recommend the interview of Major Manish Bhatnagar.

Respect to Brig. Devinder Singh 🙏 Why do these things keep repeating with the Indian Army whenever in every conflict or war: 1) The Chief of Staff proclaims to press "We are ready for any eventuality" 2) Indian soldiers lack basic equipment like proper shoes, weapons, cold weather attire, faulty equipment etc. and an emergency order is given to some foreign nation for imports at high cost to the exchequer 3) Babu Generals and coward commanders who stay far from battlefield are given gallantry medals while true heroes involved in action are forgotten or blamed for mess ups. 4) After a few years the truth is revealed and an enquiry is set up. The enquiry commission submits its finding to the political leaders who assume the Indian people should not know it even though India is a democracy and no reform or change is instituted for failures to not reoccur; the problem is repeated in the next conflict or war 5) The culprit commanders keep availing pension post retirement instead of being courtmartialed like its done in any respectable army of the world! Though modern India has a legacy of bravery and valor in the lower and mid level ranks; the high ranking commanders seem to be there mainly due to academic merit, which no doubt is important for planning, strategy etc. but at the end its comes down to sheer bravery and competency to lead soldiers

Brig Devinder Singh was not made a Major General or Lt General cause of Villains like Bhudwar
But he was T'HE reason why several hundred Jawans are still alive.
He could have followed orders and they would have died unnecessarily.
It was not like Brig himself was going to lead the Troops into battle from front.
So he lost promotion but won Immense Respect of his Soldiers for whoem he fought his seniors like villain Bhudwar

Brig. Devendra Singh was made perfect scapegoat by his senior generals to save and hide their own failures during initial Kargil war 1999.
Senior generals that time felt it was a minor Infiltration from enemy side. Actually in reality, it was planned Intrusion by Pak regulars to find well entrenced on tops of Indian terrotory within 10kms away from LC. The use of heavy guns and accurate firing to approaching indian troops were evident to prove that they were not infiltrators but intrudors. Poor military brains shown here. Resulted in death of officers and jawans.

HE SHOULD UPLOAD a comprehensive chronology of the Kargil War, incorporating all the details ALONG WITH PROOFS IN A WEBSITE. Here's the expanded chronology:

    1999
January-February: Major Manish Bhatnagar claims Indian Army's 121 Brigade receives reports of Pakistani intrusions but dismisses them.
February: Indian PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif sign the Lahore Declaration, aimed at de-escalating tensions.
March: Brigadier Surinder Singh reportedly sends a report to higher authorities warning of possible infiltration.
April 13: According to Brigadier Devinder Singh, he briefs senior commanders about Pakistani build-up and possible attacks.
Late April: Indian patrols observe unusual movements and infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC).
    May 1999
May 3: Local shepherds alert Indian Army to infiltrators in Kargil district.
May 5: Captain Saurabh Kalia and his team are captured and killed by infiltrators.
May 9: Pakistani forces begin heavy artillery shelling, targeting National Highway 1A.
May 10: Infiltrations detected in Dras, Kaksar, and Mushkoh sectors.
May 15: Indian Army launches operations to evict infiltrators.
May 18: India mobilizes more troops to the region and starts air reconnaissance missions.
    June 1999
June 1: Indian Air Force (IAF) launches air strikes under Operation Safed Sagar, targeting Pakistani positions.
June 5: Indian forces identify the extent of the infiltration, revealing that it includes regular Pakistani troops.
June 9: Indian Army recaptures two key positions, Tololing and Point 4590, in the Dras sector.
June 13: Indian Army captures Point 5140, gaining a strategic advantage in the Dras sector.
June 15: US President Bill Clinton urges Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to withdraw Pakistani forces from Indian territory.
    July 1999
July 2: Indian Army begins recapture of Tiger Hill after fierce fighting.
July 4: Indian forces secure Tiger Hill, a key strategic peak.
July 11: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announces the withdrawal of Pakistani troops from the Indian side of the LoC.
July 14: Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declares Operation Vijay a success and confirms that most of the intrusions have been cleared.
July 26: Officially marked as Kargil Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) in India. The Indian Army announces the complete eviction of Pakistani infiltrators from the Indian side of the LoC.
    Post-War
August 1999: Both India and Pakistan continue to reinforce their positions along the LoC.
November 1999: Indian Army conducts an internal review of the conflict and identifies lapses in intelligence and operational procedures.
2000 onwards: India strengthens its border defenses and infrastructure to prevent similar infiltrations in the future.
    Key Operations
Operation Vijay: The Indian Army's code name for its operations to clear the Kargil sector of intrusions.
Operation Safed Sagar: The Indian Air Force's operation involving air strikes against infiltrator positions.
Operation Talwar: The Indian Navy's operation to blockade Pakistani ports and exert pressure on Pakistan.
    Key Points of Contention
Early Warnings: Doval, Bhatnagar, and both Brigadiers Singh claim that there were earlier indications of Pakistani activities, potentially as early as November 1998.
Dismissal of Reports: Some accounts suggest that early warnings were not taken seriously by higher authorities.
Preparedness: These alternative chronologies imply that India could have been better prepared if early warnings had been heeded.
Intelligence Failure: The discrepancies between official and alternative timelines highlight potential intelligence and communication failures within the Indian security establishment.
This chronology incorporates both the official narrative and the alternative accounts provided by various military officials. It highlights the complexity of the situation leading up to and during the Kargil War, as well as the ongoing debates about intelligence, preparedness, and decision-making during this period.

I am amazed at the calmness and composure exhibited by Brig.Devendar despite the deep hurt he had personally suffered and the inability of courts to grant him back the honour he was due. This is a classic example as to how cases of injustice has no recourse to correction, because of the rigid military protocol. However through this video the nation would know the facts of the matter and appreciate the conscience of the man who fought the battle and suffers no guilt.

Thank you for this video. Finally someone brave enough to speak out. Hats off to Brig. Devender Singh. I followed the Kargil war on a day to day basis. I collected newspaper cuttings and articles from magazines. This account is sketchy and short. Kargil was a colossal failure and a defeat for India. The first thing to remember is that the Indian army is not run by generals but by politicians and bureaucrats, who are the ''pay and promotion masters'' of the defense forces, thus the scope for manipulation and corruption is very great despite all the discipline in the army. The lives and future of army officers and their families can be destroyed by a single stroke of the pen by a sick and selfish senior.
Republic Day parade is fine. But when you see the conditions of the same soldiers on the western front, it is very sad. What is even more worse is the battle preparedness. According to a national newspaper, the Indian army has enough ammunition to fight a full scale war for only 20 days after that politicians and bureaucrats will broker peace and count the dead.
The illegal Bofors gun which was vilified by the ''Hindu'' newspaper, was the real savior of the Kargil war. Tiger Hill was blasted into pieces by the super accurate Bofors gun. Hundreds of Pakistani troops were killed without a single casualty on our side. The day and night bombardment snuffed out all resistance. Only a few Pakistani soldiers remained. Most of them were injured and they even ran out of food. If they had been left in this condition, all of them would have died a natural death. But something more serious happened. The Indian army ran out of shells for the Bofors guns (When the Guns Became Silent).
Then the tragedy happened. India had Brahmos missiles, Agni missiles, grads, but none of them were used. India, till today has no long range artillery guns. It is a shame. Compare the Russians, who use their artillery and every kind of missile to hit the enemy with devastating results, but they do not sacrifice their soldiers. For the Defense Establishment, the lives of our brave Jawans were cheaper than missiles and rockets. Order was given to climb Tiger peak and take it. It was like ''The Charge of the Light Brigade''.
With no proper winter clothing and gear, our soldiers began the ascent on the 16,608 feet Tiger peak, which is treacherously steep. Then the tragedy happened. Less than 60 Pakistani soldiers were on the peak. The whole world knows what happened. We can only cry for our brave soldiers and their families.
There was no need to occupy Tiger Hill. There should have been many resignations at the top, but no one resigned. But loyal army officers like Brigadier Devender Singh and Major Manish Bhatnagar who stood up for their jawans, were selectively punished and dismissed from the army. We captured Peak 5562 and lost the Kargil war.

Excellent talk. In fact after the 1971 war the mass conversions, mostly of Muslims from western Punjab into Sikhs leading radicalisation of rural Punjab youth in to militants with the concoction of jan sangh being divided and converted to bjp in late 70’s which all culminated to 84’riots had undercurrents somewhere. When Gandhi’s were murdered and brig. Brar who lead the blue star operation were chased down brutally, the officers distanced themselves from getting involved in lower order and their conflicts. The Kargil war was the last leg to show outsiders the door after 84’riots and a strong message to be passed that come through fair channels and you will be welcomed within the system and not through bypassing or breaching security in conjunction with the lower ranks. Hence, juniors somewhere or the other had to be blamed to pass on the wrong message which infuriated the situation in to killing of so many politicians and officers. One misleading piece of information to motivated posterity can cause havoc, hence juniors were being blamed for passing on wrong signals may be. Aberrations would settle when the hard work, sacrifice, character and determination which goes in to making of a soldier would be highlighted than merely the romancing of protagonists. Seriously, a lot goes in to carving a gentleman but our intel officers have to pose the lower ranks to get to their level to have an insight into their beings. May be such Intel had been instrumental in decoding the cause of war then. Rest, taking citizenship of India is no big deal, anyone can come and live as a citizen given the observation of certain rules and protocols. Anyways, one can not make out the difference between a Pakistani and Indian if switched attires and roles. Especially in Punjab which is the byproduct of both the nations. Hence, respect the territories and boundaries and lot can be sorted. Thanks for such enlightening conversation, thoroughly enjoyed it.
