    Gateway was always one of my favorite race tracks on the NASCAR and Indycar schedule to go to. The facility has that great county fair feel and the racing is always exciting. The fans are incredible and the speedway staff are unparalleled. They had a track representative, we called her Gateway Gayle. She made sure that the teams had everything we needed in the garage/infield area. She had the speedway install a power pole so when I parked my Racing Radios trailer in the garage that I didn't have to run my generator. Just an all around great facility.

    Holy shit what a finish to the race. To think that Sato won the race after all the troubles in the first part of the race. Also what a mega bottlejob by Newgarden. Good for him that it wasn't a proper crash and didn't ruin his title chances

    I love Gateway, it's one of my favourite ovals in IndyCar, along with Indianapolis and Iowa. I love the fact that it has the sort of kerbs you find on a road course to mark the corners, that's unusual for an oval.
    I wasn't able to watch this race as I was on holiday with my family in Cornwall, but the highlights on RUclips certainly gave an impression of how good this race was!
    Also, pre-aeroscreen Rossi was something else! Hopefully he can recapture this form. I think he's been solid for McLaren so far.

      It's way, way too hot in St. Louis in August to be doing this as an afternoon race. In St. Louis it is, right now, at 2pm on the Tuesday before the race, 98° with a heat index of 118°. There is virtually no shade at the track, and no air conditioned spaces for the vast majority of attendees.
      It is much, much better as a night race, but we have to put TV ratings ahead of spectator experience and safety, so here we are.

    Gateway (WWTR) is a master class in how to promote a race; any oval promoter wanting to run an IndyCar Series event needs to talk to the WWTR folks and the race promoters there.

    • @danielhenderson8316
      @danielhenderson8316 Год назад

      Even the NASCAR promoters need to talk with them. The "You Should Be Honored We're Hosting a Race" type of promotion is killing their oval attendance as well.

    I had no idea Ericsson was with Arrow Mclaren funny not seeing him in his typical Red Husky Chocolate car from CGR. I remember watching this race live and rooting for Santino. This years race was pretty boring compared to this 2019 race. Gateway should always be a night race screw the Nascar schedule NBC. Thinking about planning a vacation to Gateway next year to see this race.

      A lot of people were confused because the lines on the track aren't exactly straight, plus the camera focal length for the onboard compresses distances kinda like a fish eye. If you watch the onboards it's clear nobody really was at fault individually, they all moved slightly in at the same time and that's what caused it
