Indeed the tiny O-ring is for different model as you said. Early Accord according to my Honda Dealership in Grantham. The parts guy had to ask the technician and one, of them actually knew. So mystery solved! To be fair they have been very good at looking after me and my countless Honda's over part 15 years both family and company cars, so shout out to the team there!
Thank you Rob. A very helpful description of how to find and change the filter. Took me just 40 mins to do it - I bought the removal tool which made it all a doddle..
Thanks a lot for this video. I have the 2014 4-th gen. CR-V and it has the same engine like your 3-rd gen. here. I was misleaded by other videos showing the fuel filter under the rear seat... but then I watched your video and I realized it also fits to 2012 - 2014 2.2 i-dtec. And what a great engine it is! After changing the fuel filter runns again smooth like it used to run years ago...
Very helpful, thanks. I have the Accord with the same engine and was scratching my head looking for the fuel filter. It was a bit easier to get to on the older one.
You are a lovely person, even more charismatic than Eric.O (SMA) who sent me to your channel. Love your videos, subbed, keep up the great work - all the best from Romania.
Brilliant video. I've managed to get to the fuel filter cap but I've had a nightmare with it... No.matter how hard I've tried, it just won't shift with the proper tool or with a strap. 😭
it gets my goat trying to do my own cars so someone like you working everyday I can imagine the frustration! I have recently had a Kia venga, battery out air box out ECU! then Kia dealer reckons wipers and scuttle but think it may get it without that. then the filter is a screw oncanister but located in a metal holder which all has to come out. why such a serviceable item is hidden so much who knows. I wonder how many get missed. I also think the intervals are way too long. keep up the good work!
Nice video. I'm working on a cv boot replacement on my mothers Audi. My big Dewalt impact (DCF 899) is a lifesaver. So far it has removed any bolt i wanted to remove.
Im at mine having a nightmare . Got the tool and it slips up off position under strain. Dont think its ever been done . Going to borrow one of those filter straps from a friend tomorrow. If that fails remove the whole housing to the bench vice to try other methods
Great video rob, I done a 2011 Hyundai ix35 fuel filter lovely dose just like this,, had to take out the battery also ECU mounting bracket👎 then to top it off the top part of the filter housing one of the fuel lines was fixed to it around 10" inches long trying to release the spring clips at the end of it a nightmare when you have big hands. There's some f.....g nerd 🤓 in an office somewhere being paid a fortune to come up with this shit.
The British Eric O, i had a kia Cee'd about a year ago, 2011 1.6 Crdi fuel filter on that was a nightmare!! Saying that my E60 530d isnt much better lol.
Rob, any tips. Got the tool, wouldn’t budge. Really awkward, but tried tapping my wrench with a hammer, just lifted the tool off. Just cut my hands to bits. Someone’s put it on far too tight. ?
Nightmare! So you most likely will have to remove the housing completely, put it in a vice and try again with the tool or a large pair of grips. Worse case replace the whole housing.
Great vid Rob very helpful, I'm guessing u don't need to remove fuel pump fuse and run the engine to reduce the amount of fuel in the system first? (saw a guy do that in a focus fuel filter vid)
@@OneAuto thanks for much I have both models of Honda CR-V the Icdti and the idtec I will like to change the fuel filter in the icdti is there a special tool to remove the filter from casing
Hi Rob sweet vid I know where to find it when i see one in the shop now. Have you ever done a 2015 civic diesel? it took me 3/4 of an hour to find it. its buried above the starter at the rear of the motor, and then there is a hand primer by the tank which is know were near the filter. what a kerfuffle for service items thanks for sharing.
I see what you mean about buried. From what I hear and see the Asian diesels are the best engines these days, but the Euro market is the only place they sell, the other main car markets like the US and Japan have virtually no diesels. I think Honda shoe horned diesels into these vehicles as an afterthought and never really considered servicing. The Honda and older Toyota diesels are about the only diesel I would ever consider owning if I actually needed one. Nice to see you anyway. Thanks for the cuppa. 👍
A lot of garages don't do these when they are due, hence the number of IDTECs with fuel pump and injector failures. £1K++ for the sake of a 30 minutes job.
Diesel with HONDA I am jelly. I live in California, USA and diesel are looked upon like EVIL. I blame all the regulations. I would pay extra for a HONDA with diesel.
One Auto, had 05 accord cdti myself and its similar but not quite as bad. Engineers and designers should have one golden rule. Make service items easily accessible. How many back street garages skip difficult maintenance items like this. Then you get more problems. Its a vicious circle
Thanks, I guessed it was as the air filter and battery are exactly the same layout. I'm going to do my MK4 2.2 next week after watching this video. Thanks for confirming 👍
@@blueandwhiteblade Just for your info, the filter housing on mine was very tight and needed a longer bar on the socket for leverage but there isn't a lot of space to get one in. Lots of spillage as well so put loads of paper towel around it. I didn't have diesel to top the reservoir up but after a few cranks of the engine it got through ok. Like most jobs, once you've done it it's easy the second time!
What the heck! This is one failure I'll give on the 2011 Honda CR-V. That is a lot of work to replace a fuel filter. I've done many fuel filters, from located in the engine bay to underneath the car. I've never ever had to remove so much stuff. Some cars I replaced the filter in 15 minutes (start to clan up) that have it located in the engine bay area. There is some sardonic engineer laughing about this one!!

Love the rain in the background, it's so soothing. I know I'm weird, I live in a country where we don't get a ton of rain like you do.
It is weird but I like laying in bed listening to it.. Got no choice here though 👍
Just bought a 2011 CRV i-dtec with 44k on the clock.. This is going to be my first job..! Excellent.. :-)
I have same model as your, where is EGR valve located?
The o ring that is left over is for the purge screw in the bottom. Hi from Ecuador 🇪🇨

Good Video! How to bleed pipes after changing of filter? CR-Vs with i-CDTi engine have special pump for. Thanks!
Didn't know Honda made a turbo diesel. cool. They have any power to them? thanks for sharing
Yeah not bad they got 150 ponies in the stable.
Excellent tutorial mate
Does k24 engines have the same fuel filter?
Nice work Rob and it didn't look to be too bad of a job :)
Not too bad that Terry. Even easier next time with the tool to fit it :)
Good video ! They really hide the fuel filter on that model
Thanks! They sure do, you cant even see it from above!
Is 2009 honda accord dtec auto filter the same to do. I've heard it's under the car by the fuel tank
Would very much welcome video on chaging fuel filter on 2016 crv idtec 1.6 diesel
Is it easy to service this car? I was thinking to buy the 1.6 diesel,
Great job Rob.

The 2007 one is more difficult to change !
I've got a 2007 icdti CRV as well it took me nearly 1 hour to replace fuel filter
Rain rain go away... come back some other day! That's a good size filter... why is it that the petrol engines always get the little filters?
I know.. it's just so unfair!! 😂
Great video sure not easy to check for leaks
I know, can't see anything from the top :)
another top video Rob keep them coming

Rob is the fuel filter in the same location on the I-CTDI 2.2 without the DPF?
I can’t remember exactly but Honda do like to bury a fuel filter in that sort of location on a lot of models
Thanks Rob, much appreciated
Thanks for watching Reg
Nice work. You always seem to use the Purflex filters, any reason or just a coincidence??
Purflex, Mann & Hengst mainly, Quality Filters

Too much plastic crap to take off the underside of the BMW
5:05 what is the tool called? I didn't quite get what you said need this tool so perhaps you can help me by telling me once again. Thanks
There is a link in the description for the tool you need. But I initially used a band oil filter removal tool.
Keep up the good work looking forward to your next vid
Would you replace the fuel filter of a gas engine on a CRV the same exact way?
No that would have a different set up

Yes I think so. Cheers
Great vid Rob very helpful, I'm guessing u don't need to remove fuel pump fuse and run the engine to reduce the amount of fuel in the system first? (saw a guy do that in a focus fuel filter vid)
No you wanna keep as much fuel in the system as possible to aid restart.
If it was a petrol engine then yes.
@@OneAuto Cheers Rob, I'll be doing this on my CRV in a few months, very helpful thanks
The tiny o-ring must be for the fuel pipe, that you unplug from filter cap.
I thought this too, but I've just replaced the filter and the o-ring is very thin and small compared to the one the fuel pipe.
Do you have video of the removal of Icdti engine
No sir. Never changed one

Hi, what's the tool you're using to undo and tighten bolts?
Milwaukee 3/8 impact ratchet

How do you find the Milwaukee ratchet? Thinking of getting one.
Love it! Have to crack a really tight one with a normal ratchet but then spin it out with the Milwaukee.
Cool, nice video.
What filter band/strap did you use?
Think it’s a Lyle. But you’re better off getting one of these amzn.to/2qwZGxd that I now have
la clé electrique c'est quelle marque ? quelle référence ?
I like the improvisation with the filter band tool, Do you do enough Honda's to get your money back on that special tool then? Haha
That's the first of that type I've come across, the tool was is about £10 retail so no massive investment. All set for the next one.. bring it on :)
That's a reasonable price tbh, Some of the prices for some of the specialist timing tools are ridiculous!
Very helpful video, thanks
Thank you very much 😊
may the small o ring is for the fuel pipe you took off .
waching this im glad i have the mk2 crv much more simple to service
Yes a bit. They're all simple when we've done a few I suppose.

you need more drama in the brake cleaning fluid shots Rob ;-)
Like an Eric O sound effect. Maybe a slow mo and dramatic music.
may have to be a little different due to copyright,
possibly a gushing sound as you use the pump up spay
