  • All Long Distance Trains from Bangkok moved to the Krung Thep Aphiwat. You can not take the train to Chiang Mai anymore at the Old Hua Lampong station. Regional trains still go from Hua Lampong. This started on the 19th of January 2023, there are 52 Long Distance trains per day. สถานีกลางกรุงเทพอภิวัฒน์
The Bang Sue Grand Central Station has been renamed now to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station (สถานีกลางกรุงเทพอภิวัฒน์(บางซื่อ)). You can reach the station by Blue MRT station Bang Sue BL11.
My friend Michael Rifa provided the drone footage you can check his channel here: ‪@RifaMichael‬

@@jameshiroshi5226 Why will the provinces not have public transport? Every province has it ิbut the time may not be as much as Bangkok. And most of people in other provinces have their own cars. It is not necessary to use a bus while traveling from district to district but buses that travel between provinces to provinces always exist and are everywhere. Some provinces have their own bus stations. Some provinces do not have. But there are inter-provincial transportation services as well. You are a foreigner so don't know and don't pretend you know better than the locals.

It feels like it was built at the same time as Suvarnabhumi!
Should have the same grand feeling as QSNCC golden grand but doesn’t with its metallic exterior and gray interior! Hope it definitely runs as it’s built to do smoothly!

I truly agree with you. This station lacks anything that would make it a landmark. There is no interior design with wall art or sculpture, for example. Except for some signboards, time bulletins, and, of course, more ad boards to come, it appears to be completely empty to me.

I just hope that the new central terminal gets some much-needed improvements. What I'll be most grateful for is SRT's plan to expand its facilities with more shops, restaurants, and convenience stores. Then there's more interior decoration, like wall art, sculpture, and plants.
The design of the central train stations in the Netherlands has impressed me. They are absolutely fascinating, especially the Arnhem Central Terminal.

Knowing that this entire plot of land belongs to the railways - the market included btw …
Looking at the lay out of subway and skytrain lines…
    Looking at overhead express ways…
    The airport express train
In my not so humble opinion Thailand missed 2 big opportunities 30 years ago .
    1. Instead of developing all those different systems they could have made 1 central transversal pivot point at Makkasan. As the body of a octopus.
    2. Electrification + doubling of all major railway lines , on bridges or in taluds around cities.

I had mentioned in a previous post that I had a walking problem, and feared the new station would possibly be a nightmare for me. So, out of a mixture of necessity and curiosity, I decided to take the train to Nong Khai three weeks ago, and the new station was every bit as bad as I thought it would be. It is hopelessly signposted, and with my hip problem, took me 30 minutes to even find where to buy the tickets. I was running low on water (at gate 12), asked an employee where I could buy some, and she replied Gate 4 - that would take me another 30 minutes to walk to! (luckily some school kids had overheard, and pointed me to a 7/11 dispensing machine - which they then had to help me with the operation of, as the instructions where in Thai). Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful effing place! I HATE it!
