Others have already mentioned it, but Cagliostro doesn't have multiple personalities, rather it's a front where she likes to look and act cute to catch people off-guard before pulling out some absolute savagery.
Cagliostro is the original creator of Alchemy in the GBF universe. This time, thousands of years into the present story, they decided they wanted to live with the adorable little girl look. She likes to whip out her true old ass, semi-sadistic personality like a shiv. And you're kinda right, the fgc has less of a crossover with the original game, but with any luck, they upcoming action RPG will help entice all players and fill in some lore gaps.
Basically, the first part of the song is her outer facade, at 2:40 her true personality comes knocking, and the last third is a mix of the 2. In other words, she is an absolute menace.
One of my favorite fighting game songs of all time. Part 1 is cute and sweet, part 2 is hardcore and evil, and then they seamlessly mesh the two together for part 3. Absolutely an incredible song that perfectly personifies the character it belongs to.
The original character song this is based on was composed by Tsutomu Narita and arranged by Johnny.k. This version for GBF Versus was arranged by Nao Tokisawa. He did several arrangement for this game. Yasunori Nishiki also does several arrangements and original songs for Versus.
I've never played the fighting game though I've always wanted to. And I've only played about 2 hours of the original grand blue fantasy. But as far as I understand it, GBF is one of Japan's longest running mobile games, though it has expanded greatly beyond that over the years. With the fighting game and upcoming full action RPG that looks amazing. And tons and tons of lore and story. There's a reason it has a pretty dedicated fanbase.
Of note is the fact that that a lot of GBVS characters themes are an arranged versions of their character songs with vocals, released over the course of the gacha games lifespan. The shift at 2:40 coincides with the same thing in her song when she drops the cute girl pretense

Even the most boomer person can get good at the game. Beside that, the game also has Beat Em Up co-op story mode and fun boss fights. Heck, the newest version of the game has Fall Guys mode

I was litterally listening to this song earlier today and it's absolutly one of my favorites of the game where it starts ann cute to showcase Cags girly exterior before she shows her true colors and the riffs are taking over! that's always one of the highlights whenever I'm listening to her theme in the car! some already mentioned that Cag is the OG creator of alchemist, which was thousands of years ago, to keep living he created every time a new body for himself, so he was basicly immortal by keep doing so, idk exactly if he got bored or something but in present times he deciteded to have a little girls body, that's how this cute but actually sadistic little thing got to be. which is also mirrored in her fighting style, she teleports by creating bodys out of gold and transfers her soul into the new body while the old one crumbles, heck, her super attack which under the right condition 100% kills, transforms her opponent into an gold throne with an statue of herself on top of it. XD
If I remember correctly, his first body was based on his sister back in the day and later on he just decided he actually prefered this body type than anything else. You can probably make the argument that there's somewhat of a trans imagery with Cagliastro if you wanted especially since Cag shares a fate episode regarding that subject with Ladiva.
My memory of her original fate episodes is rusty so bear with me if i mistake anything. Cagliostro was born as a really frail boy and wished to be healthy so she spent her whole life researching ways to cure herself. This led to her inventing alchemy as a practice as a whole. She's practically immortal as whenever her body starts to degrade she makes herself a new one and has been doing that for at least 1000 years! She's one of the many canon queer characters as she always chooses to create female vessels when changing bodies :D Her theme embodies her personally incredibly well because she puts on a really cutesy act and wishes to be the cutest girl in the skies but WILL turn around and act like a sadistic, narcissist mad scientist at the drop of a dime. That aspect of her is shown off with how in gameplay, her super skybound art traps people and makes them into golden statues of herself.
Also, iirc, part of her lore is that she had a sister who also had the same condition she had who she cared for a lot, but she didn't make it before she finished her replacement body, which cagi's looks now are based on that og body, & she became obsessed with trying to make "the cutest form ever" because of her sadness, or it's at least implied that's why she pursuits it. Also, she offered to give ladiva, another Trans female character, a physical female form based on her race know as the Draph, but ladiva politely declined, saying, iirc, "I would prefer to spread the power of love with the body my parents blessed me with by their undying love for each other." God, I love ladiva. 1 of my favorites in the series. Cagi, too.
@@arkdetective Nah, Cagliostro's sister just helped in the whole process, as she was talented in an alchemy technice Cag to this date hasn't dominated. The sister actually refused to replace her body, choosing instead to create a family, of which Clarisse is the long descendant of.

Cag's a master alchemist, somewhat villainous essentially one of those pervy old man anime tropes, so when he reached the end of his life he transplanted his soul into the artificial body of a loli to be cute and disarming to others. So the song switches between the "cute and innocent" mask that he puts on and his true villainous soul. It's a bit of a running gag for him to say some shit like "Heh, you thought I was just a cute girl. but my soul was that of a man's!" before flashing an evil grin.
Correction for this: Cagliostro was born with very sickly body and was destined to die before even reaching his pre-teen. That's why he invented a way to survive and created alchemy, as his time draw near, he makes a vessel homunculus modelled after his little sister as this was the fastest way at the time. After that, he transferred his soul onto the vessel, and this all happened before his pre-teen year so it's not about being pervy or anything like that.
