Itzy is one of the strongest girl groups in terms of dance, so it's completely understandable that they would get it wrong. When Ryujin was on Mixnine, she was considered one of the strongest, if not the strongest, female dancers in the show, and now she's generally considered third in this group. If that doesn't show how amazing they are, on baseline, then idk what could. It's completely fair to believe pretty much any of the members are the main dancer because they're just all so good.
In fact Ryujin is the second strongest dancer in ITZY. She is third (along with Yuna) in idol dancing, but in open style she is second best, not far behind Yeji, she is just behind Yeji because she has to learn to "use" the space more. Chaeryeong is considered one of the best dancers of the generation because she is very good at idol dancing, without a doubt she is one of the best in kpop at idol dancing.

truly her dancing is so mesmerizing, smooth, and eye catching. she stuck out the most to me as someone who doesn't really do professional dance, just dancing in a studio for a couple of years, i think shes my favorite dancer of this gen. Her flexibility is the part that makes her dance the way it is she gives it her all and you can always tell

Yesss i totally agree. she may not be the best dancer but to be able to perform to a standard that matches the rest of the members can be really hard. Aswell with what she has going on with anaemia it can be extremely hard to move around at a fast pace without feeling dizzy/tired (as someone who has anaemia.) She devours everytime I feel like more people need to recognise her more for the qualities she has
Early on she looked really rough next to the other girls but she's done some serious catching up. She's still not that great, and lacks a lot of the basics but nowadays she can keep up and blends in with the other girls well enough rather than standing out for not doing the choreo properly as she used to do before.

Yeji and Chaeryeong are actually the main dancers but i thought the same thing too when I first got into ITZY that Ryujin was one of the main dancers (she certainly could be in another group!). Yuna's another solid dancer with her own flair & JYP PD-nim even praised her dancing too. I'm really glad you mentioned the whole group being synchronized🥲..Lia doesn't have a dance position as the main vocalist but MIDZYs can see she works very hard to keep up with what basically is the strongest dance line out of 4th gen ggs!

Given the other girls are all extremely good, of course. She has gotten a lot better over time tho, and is very admirable that she keeps up with some of the hardest choreos and next to arguably the best dance squad kpop girl groups have seen. But you can see she still lacks a lot of training in the basics of dancing. Lia is average at best.
A few months after discovering Itzy, they are now in my top 5 fav g-groups in Kpop. They’re a great group that I hope they grow bigger and bigger in success.
Glad to see Ryujin recognized by professionals. I also like her dance very much, but I saw some fans finding fault with her and trying to explain why she's not the main dancer in ITZY by denying her dancing ability, this really confuses me.

Korean likes to divide the positions equally. Ryujin's position as the main rapper is more superior to being the main dancer so JYP omitted it. Sometimes there are people who get angry because she's not main dancer. Jyp couldnt give only one person positions. And this cant be proof of the disparagement of competence. Her dance skill has an appeal beyond that of the main dacer. And I think this is the charm of idol dance.

I prefer Chaeryeong's style and movements. Like you said, she's rarely in the spotlight. It would be satisfying to see. I think she is more versatile in dance; I can't see Ryujin doing something like Cry For Me choreo. However, she is an amazing performer.

Ryujin is one of a few female kpop dancers who actually could pop her body like that Altho in some choreo she didn't pay as much attention to details as Yeji, Chae, Yuna, but she's so good at what others couldn't do
....and that is also how Shin Ryujin got me hooked into Itzy. I was amazed by her moves and her facial expressions. She's a real performer. I def agree with these dancers, when its feminine moves, Chaer and Yeji stands out. Yeji is also consistently powerful. However, my dear Ryujin got that pop and dynamics. She knows her strength and really know how to play with it - she can go easy then go hard in a millisec. Soft and then hit hard again. I admire her so much for it. Thats why i never get bored even if i've watched her vids million times. Thank you for featuring itzy! They all have their own unique styles and together, they make the best girl group. Yeah, I can't blame them for not spotting the true main dancer because ITZY has always been a dance-focused group. I mean, that's the reason they became so famous in the first place. They were (and still are) one of the hardest hitting groups in terms of choreo. So picking out who's supposed to be the main is always going to be difficult unless you're already in the know.

Itzy always delivers in performance !! There are 4 members who specialized in dance, two main and 2 leads, as well as Lia who blends in and can keep up in a dance centered group, it's so easy to stick out like a sore thumb with their choreo and being alongside some of kpop's top dance lines

Glad to see Ryujin recognized by professionals. I also like her dance very much, but I saw some fans finding fault with her and trying to explain why she's not the main dancer in ITZY by denying her dancing ability, this really confuses me.
Itzy has been known as a dance centered group since debut. If there are some "midzy" out there putting down Ryujin's obvious dancing ability, it's cuz they're trying to praise their own biases

While Chae and Yeji are better than her she’s still phenomenal and the fact that she not the best really goes to show how good the other two are. If people are trying to tear her down they’re not real fans. Especially as a lot of fans literally know nothing about dance .

im glad to see more ryujin recognition, tbh i feel like shes always slept on so hard for her actual skills as a dancer. her pops and locks are just chefs kiss and her groove is immaculate, love seeing her dance. the other may be more skilled (debatable depends on who you ask ig) but my eyes always gravitate to her. i just love how she dances.

Korean likes to divide the positions equally. Ryujin's position as the main rapper is more superior to being the main dancer so JYP omitted it. Sometimes there are people who get angry because she's not main dancer. Jyp couldnt give only one person positions. And this cant be proof of the disparagement of competence. Her dance skill has an appeal beyond that of the main dacer. And I think this is the charm of idol dance.

I also notice in live performances how ryujin has eye contact and facial expressions with the crowd. I think it's very important for the crowd to feel like they are seen by the performers.

I def agree with these dancers, when its feminine moves, Chaer and Yeji stands out. Yeji is also consistently powerful. However, my dear Ryujin got that pop and dynamics. She knows her strength and really know how to play with it - she can go easy then go hard in a millisec. Soft and then hit hard again. I admire her so much for it. Thats why i never get bored even if i've watched her vids million times. Thank you for featuring itzy! They all have their own unique styles and together, they make the best girl group. Yeah, I can't blame them for not spotting the true main dancer because ITZY has always been a dance-focused group. I mean, that's the reason they became so famous in the first place. They were (and still are) one of the hardest hitting groups in terms of choreo. So picking out who's supposed to be the main is always going to be difficult unless you're already in the know.

to the people in the comments getting mad ryujin is being called main dancer, you should know these kpop positions can change as they are given at group debut. and jyp doesn’t have the best record at distributing them. for a starter, twice jihyo doesn’t even have a dance position although she is the 2nd best dancer in her group. as for ryujin she has always been a strong dancer she got immensely popular on mixnine over how well she dances (the dance teacher literally said she dances so well you could mistake her for a dance teacher). either way you could argue she had lead dancer skills at debut, but now it is undeniable her skills are main dancer level and not just barely. professionals always recognize her talent in dance and say she has a real future in that domain. then who cares about a kpop position when so many people recognize your talent and technique? ryujin IS a main dancer whether the people in the comments want to accept it on not. industry wise she is regarded as such as well since people even call itzy the 3 main dancers group. ryujin can pop, is the best at isolating and body control, has groove, her own style… she is also the best tutter and the strongest at expressing, like these professional dancers mention. ryujin has the skills and the technique of a main dancer and is treated as such. so these people giving her her flowers are correct!

Itzy always delivers in performance !! There are 4 members who specialized in dance, two main and 2 leads, as well as Lia who blends in and can keep up in a dance centered group, it's so easy to stick out like a sore thumb with their choreo and being alongside some of kpop's top dance lines
