I don't have a CTS but I use 5w30 on my thirdgen Firebird, Castrol 5w30 long life fully synthetic, ACDelco oil filter. Have used Castrol on several different cars with Bosch oil filters. They've been fine.
I really enjoy amsoil oil, it made my engine idle very smooth and very cold start ups was light years better, but for cheaper I used mobile 1 but I only use amsoil now won’t ever change from it
Watching cause I love to watch and also cause I have a v wagon myself. Plan in the next 5 years is to get a knight rider replica from you! Keep up the good work.
I use the k&n filter on my 15 edge sport and full synthetic oil never an issue. Some people use seafoam for fuel cleaner and such. My mechanic said add a can to the gas tank on half on tank and add a half of can to the oil when it's just about 500 miles due so it clean it out. So far all been good and that haves almost 82,000 on it with the 2.7 v6 awd
Bucket of steam and blinker fluid do I ever miss working I the garage with the new guys. My other favourite is when I worked as a green keeper at the golf course and we would tall the new guy to run to the garage and get the sod stretcher lol🤣
I do the same with my 08 DTS. Keep it on fuel range and if I feel it’s not getting the proper mileage, I reset the avg economy, after filling it with premium (hella expensive, usually between $41-$45), and use the highway to “fine tune” it along with the cruise control, which helps, and then drive it down city streets to even it out. May not get over 300 miles with every tank, but I measure in days rather than mileage. Least was 5.5, starting the day I drove her off the lot, max so far, 15, median 11. Also, since she is very thirsty as you had said, take a picture after every fill up when it’s on fuel range and reset Trip A with every fill up to get a measurement on how many miles you have.
I’d like to see a video on what’s involved to install a lift like that in a garage. Is it something you could do yourself or should you get a pro to do it to make sure it’s truly level/balanced?
I have an 85 Seville although that car is getting parted out now since motor went in it and it is from the Northeast so has a bit of rust. Nothing wrong with Fram if you are changing your oil regularly. I prefer Purolator if I can find them. Work van gets changed every 3k miles. Other cars that I do not drive much get changed once a year.
Ur guy was rite about the bolt on the filter it's for removal hopefully the filter comes off without too much trouble u wrenched that sucker down super tight bob lol but I agree with u I stay away from fram I just did a oil change on my 2016 gmc sierra and ended up going with the mobile 1 filter I was able to get my oil and my filter for about 60 bucks at walmart not too bad Gotta love how easy gm vehicles are to change oil on
I honestly don't mind Fram oil filters. People go off about the paper end-caps but oil filters have been like that for decades and they've rarely ever been an issue. Also, the only oil additive I use is Lucas and that's because my cars have overhead cams. Lucas seems to keep more oil on the top end when cold starting. (Next time you see that gear demo, you'll see what I'm talking about.) I'm willing to bet your generator still had some oil it and the zmax was doing nothing but that's just my opinion, after-all I wasn't there. I'm highly skeptical about much of the additives they make for cars these days. Many of them seem to be nothing but elixirs, I like seeing physical proof in real time.
Bob instead of Z-Max I highly recommend Archoil. I’ve been using it for years after seeing Jay Leno use and endorse it. Takes about 5-6 oz of it per oil change depending on your quarts. You can also put it in gear boxes and transmission. CHECK IT OUT 🧐 As far as oil and oil filters: Amsoil.
In a lot of quality Filtres like K & N there is a sticker with a space for mileage & Date for you to stick under the bonnet I have been putting that sticker on the underside of bonnet on my cars for years. Have you a short throw dip stick like most race cars. How is the zastava yugo?
Hey Bob, nice video. How do you feel about using Royal Purple for oil, and a Mobile One filter? (2011 Caddy CTS-V sedan 91,000 miles) I was curious about the Z-Max and was told not to use it, but seeing you use it makes me think I should add a bottle at every oil change, would that be recommended?
Again, I’m more of a fan of LiquiMoly/LubroMoly’s additives. Their Molygen oil already has the correct amount included so no guessing about ratios with the oil.
Great video Bob. what kind of knife did you use to open that box as I would really like to get a retractable style knife. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I always enjoy your videos sir.
My 2012 doesn't have all those gauge features like oil life, g force, tire pressure etc.. which I guess is fine since less stuff to reset/worry about lol
I am 6'8" 270, I have plenty of legroom and headroom. You might be able to make it work, might be a little snug but the bolsters do adjust. Check out a BMW M3 if you need more room, that was my first choice but I went with an older CTS-V for parts availability
That bottom of the car looks healthy Roberto :) how sounds that? :) Johnny Cash dreamt of a Caddilac in a song 1976... 1 piece at a time lol... what model is it? It's a 48 49 50 51 52 etc ...have a good day sir :)
A live stream and a video dropped? Definitely a good day!
Love your videos man, even something as "mundane" as changing oil you manage to make entertaining to watch dude. Thanks for the laughs and smiles!
I hate those plastic cowls in modern engines. Removing the one in my Fiat 500 revealed how easy to work on the engine actually is.
I’ve used Pennzoil ultra platinum and delco UPF48R on my wagon for the last 4 years and 40k+ miles no issues
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is one step below Amsoil, great stuff and significantly cheaper. The best value IMO
I don't have a CTS but I use 5w30 on my thirdgen Firebird, Castrol 5w30 long life fully synthetic, ACDelco oil filter. Have used Castrol on several different cars with Bosch oil filters. They've been fine.
I’m a big fan of the K&N oil filters, good choice
I really enjoy amsoil oil, it made my engine idle very smooth and very cold start ups was light years better, but for cheaper I used mobile 1 but I only use amsoil now won’t ever change from it

Wix filters are in my opinion the best!
been using slick 50 when oll changing @ 204000+ plus miles and still pulling strong with most of the engines original factory components
Posting everyday? Bob is on a roll!!!
Love that rain X washer fluid, dont even need wipers when it rains just beads right off. That CTS-V is nasty love that thing
Rep Polska you're not lying just cruise and watch it flow right off

I have been using Bestline Lubricants for years Bob I had 235000 miles on an engine that still had over 175 psi in an compression test. Thanks

I don't think it's available as DIY as there are safety concerns and I also suspect it must be installed by a qualified installer.
Love my wagon. Super awesome vehicle to own, would buy another in a heartbeat

I want a cts v so bad love the wagons
Funny. I thought I was watching the Video Bob channel, but all I saw was a commercial for Jiffy Lube. :)
Excellent video Bob. You changed my mind about Cadillac.

How many men does it take to change the oil?
(:
A new johnson rod.. hahahaha !!!

When the filter is vertical, like your filter is, I always fill the filter with fresh oil before screwing it on.
I use amsoil in my cars and my harley, use their filters too

Nice, Thanks for sharing.
Wix filters 🔧✌
I’m glad you remembered the muffler bearings this time lol 😂
Could you make a new and LONGER drain pipe out of pvc?
Again, I’m more of a fan of LiquiMoly/LubroMoly’s additives. Their Molygen oil already has the correct amount included so no guessing about ratios with the oil.
Eek, I use the new oil on the filter ring. Who knows what kind of contaminants could foul it sealing properly in the long run.
Great video Bob. what kind of knife did you use to open that box as I would really like to get a retractable style knife. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I always enjoy your videos sir.
Go look through my other videos to find out.
The CTS V is a good bang for your buck
"A Shiny New Johnson Rod"
So many dad jokes
Fram is garbage. Smart move switching to K&N! I like the Purolator BOSS synthetic oil filters.
I just sent you a message on Patreon, asking what name and link you wanted in your shout out! Thanks!
Oh btw , those guys look better than the Paintshop boys mister !! *
Good job bro...train up the team...
My 2012 doesn't have all those gauge features like oil life, g force, tire pressure etc.. which I guess is fine since less stuff to reset/worry about lol
i have the Same Style Black Gloss Wheels 20" on my 2017 Black Tahoe for winter

Videobob I’m 6’7” 410 lbs, do you believe I will fit in a CTS-V wagon? Always wanted one ...
you could wear one
I am 6'8" 270, I have plenty of legroom and headroom. You might be able to make it work, might be a little snug but the bolsters do adjust. Check out a BMW M3 if you need more room, that was my first choice but I went with an older CTS-V for parts availability
Where did you get that grill from? I need that grill for my V with the new cadillac badge
No new washer on the drain plug?
👍👍

I dreamt of singing that song last night. Trying to remember the lyrics whilst asleep.

Casey stumbled across this video, super cringe.
He doesn’t even know what size engine is in his V😂
Watching him torque down on it lol
Real men drive wagons (or vans)
