I honestly can't believe the amount of people knocking this band becuase of 1 dude who's actually a brilliant addition to the band. You get get loads of people doing this to other bands for example the jam, like from the jam who had 1 guy paul weller taken out and everyone's saying shit like "get a proper job". Just do one!
Hard core punk since 77 Birmingham. UK Best fucking punk track ever. Gets my adrenaline pumping even now. The best punk bands are from Ireland. We Salute you.
Saw the Undertones in Sandinos in Derry 2 weeks ago... Always thought what's the point in seeing them without Fergal...Boy was I wrong.Paul McClune is a brilliant charismatic front man.Great show..Cant wait to see them again.
Looking forward to seeing the Undertones at the Alternative Festival at Butlins, would I rather see Fergal singing? course I would, but but it ain't going to happen, so it's better to have Paul singing than not seeing them at all
One of my great rock and roll moments, seeing Undertones open for the Clash and David Johansen at the magnificent Masonic Auditorium in downtown Detroit, Michigan USA. Want to talk about pinch me moments? Ps. The Clash bombed, David Jo stole the show.
I notice with a distinct sadness that those who bemoan the fact that the band dared to replace Sharkey (who has good reasons not to join them again) simply because they wanted to go out and have fun again, are utterly failing to notice that one of the guitarists is also not an ‘original’ member. To wit: Damien O’Neill, who replaced his brother early in their career. Don’t hear anybody moaning how ‘ooh the new guitarist isn’t as good as the original one’. Wonder why? Just for the record; yes, it would be nice if we could hear Sharkey with them again but it’s very unlikely to happen, and McLoone is an excellent (but different) singer, and no, I don’t think that Vincent should be playing. Let’s take what we can, thank you, and be glad to see these musicians onstage having a ball.
That Petrol Emotion! Oh yes, I remember that one brilliant song they did... (goes blank). OK, radio played "Big Decision"(?) unceasingly but it wasn't exactly Undertones-level of memorably catchy.
Those mentioning Feargal, he left the band 40 years ago. I haven’t heard him for a while but I’d hazard a guess he also doesn’t sound like he did as a young brave.
At last a band that's been going for a long time that plays their old stuff as fast as it should be. Not watered down half speed crap. Well done undertones.
I can remember when the O'Niell brothers said they were annoyed that people wanted them to play Undertones songs when they gigged as That Petrol Emotion.... seems like that might have changed their minds - its a good performance but aside from the excellent song writing by the brothers I'm afraid it aint the Undertones without Sharkey and his unique warble
It's a shame that Feargal isn't their singer even though he didn't write one lyric for the band, hired for his amazing voice not friendship, he left for other projects but was never as good as being in a shit kicking band.to which he must regret but he does have a point. Paul tries his best but they sound like a very good pub band without Feargal..John was mainly the chief songwriter but love them all to death as they were the first band I knew and loved as a child and still do
You would think Feargul regrets it but he doesn't. He said in an interview he thought it would be Sad to play songs about teenage kicks at 60 years old. He does have a point there and I respect his decision.
@@MrScrumpyjack1 Why is he a moron? You are obviously a big Undertones fan and still follow them today. I loved them when I was a kid but couldn't tell you anything about them today. The bloke who wrote the main comment was simply saying that the title should warn people that Feargal isn't singing. He probably typed that comment because this singer is really bad and most older people who remember The Buzzcocks might click onto this and expect to see Feargal making one in.
Re: "The other members were just his backing band" - Absolute rubbish. Yeah Feargal was a brilliant singer but the O'neill brothers and the rest of the band were just as important. I think the new singer makes quite a decent go of it. Definitely worth £25 for a good night jumpin' around to all the great hits.
That was disappointing... I was just thinking Feargul had improved with age... got more handsome but his voice had gone downhill... then,I realised it was just "off" key (Feargul key) it was an Undertone without the key sound. Apart from that it wasn't bad...
Nah I s aw the boys March 1980 , the real undertones : this is for all of you who weren’t around in 1980 at gigs : oh SLF ramones Jam x ray spex eater damned
Seen The Undertones a few times back in the day,Teenage Kicks is the most perfect pop/punk song ever written.👍😎🎸

Was a brilliant performance by The Undertones - highlight of the Festival for me !!!
Fantastic,!40 years after publishing this song still performing excellent!
This song brings back so many memories wish I go back to then 🔥
they sound very good -also great job of the new singer
Just sounds like the Jam. Brillant!! Just takes you back. Would love to hear them live!!

OK,Ok, Feargal isn't there, but I'm happy that this guys are still around here. Please ,come to Buenos Aires !
I’m feral Sharkey’s niece his now an environmentalist in London he was good when he was in the undertones

Saw the same lineup in Minneapolis ~1980? Same review.
You are Legends guys. Inspiration for Century.
i think they sound great! Good for them to be still rockin"
John Peel's #1 song .. of all the 3,8 million songs he heard
Where did you get 3.8 million?
No way has he heard 3.8 different songs
Feargal was/is so utterly unique. The band is simply not the same without him, and that’s a shame, since the and is still tight.
Feargal is a best forgotten tosser
feargal can get fucked .
A bit like The Smiths without Morrissey that.
génial , ça fait plaisir de les retrouver
I LOVE UNDERSTONES
i saw this lineup at the blank clyb in San Jose ca. small club, they tore it up!

Great singer and the band still kick some serious ass, but it’s just not the same without Feargal Sharkey 😢
❤
It's good that the singer isn't a Feargal Sharkey clone. He sounds very good. I enjoyed that!
Good effort on the vocals, its not an easy tune to sing ❤🎉
Peel is telling the truth when he called this song the greatest song ever
This is wonderful
That's basically That Petrol emotion with a new singer playing an undertones song.
That Petrol Emotion! Oh yes, I remember that one brilliant song they did... (goes blank).

God bless those boys
Love this band they where the Beatles of the new wave punk era..........Rock on Baby.......
@Maximus In what possible way do they compare to the Beatles?
Lol. Moronic comment.

I‘m impressed. They still sound fresh.
Bad ass good to see them now
Great Job Paul!!!
Always class live.🍀💚
whatever it takes.. love it
idk who this replacement singer is but he’s got an incredible singing voice for an older guy
He’s been their lead singer for 22 years
Cool guy love it
Paul's a great singer and the band are better than ever.go see them live if you like real music
Still making it look effortless all this time later.. great performance!!
At last a band that's been going for a long time that plays their old stuff as fast as it should be. Not watered down half speed crap. Well done undertones.
Amazing quality filming.
Their new singer looks like he was in a Undertones cover band before being asked go play.
New? He's been in the band for almost 20 years now.
I’d say Morrissey tribute band actually!

No Fergal, no Undertones. its the inflection of his voice that makes it work, he sounds like a youngster fantasising..
COMO EL VINO 🍷!
👌❤️
Doesnt matter who sings it as long as the songs keep getting played.
Agree totally

The Undertones, it’s Feargal’s voice.

Where's Feargal??
Just what I was thinking, Where the bloody hell ia Fergal???
Fergal hasn't been in the band since the broke up the first time. Says that at the age he is now he's too old be singing about Teenage Kicks.
81colinzeal I know the feeling!! 😜👍🏼
He sold out on the band after their last Album. The sin of pride in 1983.
thats what got him where he is tho isnt it?
