    My vision of success is making enough money to allow me to continue down that path, but more importantly, getting to play dozens of shows a year and meeting new people who share the same passion. And then one day working with or learning from the ones who inspired me. A simple life while living the dream sounds great :)

      As a dedicated and seasoned musician and writer of songs, success to me musically will be to perform venues that I belong in and to share my songs with the world. I have been a local venue player for too many years. I have honed my craft and believe I have something significant to offer both musically and lyrically. I believe I am qualified to play any stage in the world and know that people do get affected and attached to my offerings. More specifically, 2020 success would be sharing my songs broadly through performance and music sharing sites, thereby developing an audience of fans and customers for sustainability.

    my definition of success is for a small number of people who generally care about my music. I've tried reaching out to people asking them to listen to my songs but this method doesn't work very well.
    Or in reality, it could just be that my music is average/bad.

    • @EDMTips
      @EDMTips  Год назад

      I guess it depends on several factors - whom are you reaching out to, how are you reaching out and what level you're currently are.
      I get hundreds of emails from people who want me to listen to their music and it would be impossible to do it due to time constraints. That's why we have dedicated feedback sessions in the Academy, so people still can get feedback and I can still focus on content creation when I need to. Win win :)

    Hey musicians!!! :) my mind is always keen on to creating and designing something and I think I've made a mistake while choosing a not so creative profession (I'm a lawyer)... Still I got a job of my profession by I try to learn some creative professions too (mostly by myself... I mean without private tutor, only youtube), just like hobbies. Firstly I learned Archicad (software for architects) at a quite good level and now I at the age of 31 (is it late?? :D) I started learning Ableton to create music. I just love electronic music and for now I think my goal can be creating some decent tracks to share with friends and the life will show next... :)
    Your videos gave me a lot of information and made it easier to start with something for beginner as I am. Thank you for sharing your experience and giving us really useful tips!!! )

    Definitely late to this video, but success to me at this current moment is less about being able to make a living, and more about wanting more people than just me caring about my music and my real eases and what I create. My definition of success at this moment is focused on the goal of getting 100 monthly listeners on my Spotify. If I can hit that point, I’ll truly be inspired to go at this harder than I ever have before

    Success to me would be being able to give back to the community without having going broke myself and having that ability to help the less fortunate with the success of my passion in music and even giving back to the haters and not selling out to make music producers to create music that panders to their agenda that has corrupted the communities and the fans that listen themselves

    I've always struggled with "finding my own sound" or maybe nailing down what genre of music i should stick to producing, everyday I feel like making a different genre, beginning to feel like I'm a jack of all trades, but a master of few...any tips/ideas??

    • @EDMTips
      @EDMTips  4 года назад

      Yep...you can look at your history of most-listened to tracks in Apple Music or wherever you listen. It should tell you what your favourite genre is. Then, draw influences from one of your OTHER favourite genre into producing that one. You have to make a decision, though, and you can always start another musical pseudonym if you really want to produce different styles.

    Woow, good question. So I'd define my sucess in music as releasing a song every two months on a decent label like Revealed, Future House Music, Protocol and all that good stuff. And then also to play 1-3 Shows every month. Thats sucess. And all in good vibes, really doing what I love without compromisses. For example I don't like how people get drunk. I want to really life in a good vibe, without having to deal with drunk guests....

    Sorry Will, but that video still already irks me. Is being a bedroom musician the lowest of the lowest to you? And is spinning some records some REAL musician slaved and slaved over, the second best thing ever to achieve? Without musicians, the dj profession wouldn't even exist!... Oh and I have a sincere question for you: I HATE EDM and am a techno beast. Should I unsuscribe from you suscriber's list because of that? The depression thing I saw yesterday was a very good one though, my mental issues actually HELP me create wacky music. I can listen to techno, industrial, metalstep, noise, darkwave, chiptune, synthwave, OST, ... classical even but EDM ... it's all sooo weak ... :(. I guess it won't surprise you I'm a big fan of Paula Temple. And every time I hear the words "chord progression" I cringe, I really do.

    • @EDMTips
      @EDMTips  4 года назад +1

      Well, thanks for your honest feedback! By "EDM", though, I'm referring to all electronic dance music. My first passions were progressive house (circa 1992), intelligent drum & bass (LTJ BUkem), techno, hard house, and pretty much everything between. I'm glad the depression video helped. Why do you think I have a negative opinion of being a bedroom producer, though!?? If that's what you love doing - creating experimental or underground music just for the love of it - and you are doing that regularly...that would be success!
