Keep up the great run of brilliant work. Nothing better on a winters night than being transported into space .And learning loads of science too !!!🙏 13:58
I've always been curious about whether Mark Watney would have been able to grow plants inside the hab. I read something recently that said Martian soil contains some nasty chemicals which would very quickly kill Mark if he ate any food grown in that soil, but my own doubt was around whether the hab lighting could supply enough energy to the growing plants, it just seems to me that the energy output of the interior lighting would be far too weak to supply the plants what they need?

It is the perchlorates in the martian soil that is toxic but not enough to kill you though!
Yeah, Martian soil has toxic Perchlorate, but this was discovered long after the original book and movie were already made. So technically speaking the story is in line with the contemporary knowledge of Mars
@@sugandhakohli Andy has addressed that. You can hear the answer here - ruclips.net/video/4cvZ9NWgsws/видео.html skip to time code 16:17 But tl:dr Mark would have been just fine.
LOL, what country do you live in? the US water and food system has a ton of contaminants that we just adjust the FDA limits for every few years then treat the results with our bloated medical system.
Now I see where Mark Watney got his humour and attitude... =D
Matt Damon has this attitude: graduated from Harvard, and thinks he's in the top 1% of the smartest people on Earth
Add Ryland Grace and Rocky to it tooo
And Ryland Grace
@@ireneuszpyc6684 i mean, mark was the smartest on the planet
you just realized the author of the book wrote the book?
Andy is a great storyteller.

hello everyone who study at UrFU!!!
This is all chopped to bits. Really breaks up the flow
I wholeheartedly disagree! For me this flowed quite naturally and I was happy to watch it over the 48 minute version
@@petermarsh4578
I would have been just as happy to watch the longer version, if it wasn't chopped up.
