Wow, ive just found this performance and am totally amazed by Augusta's playing and of course the whole Ensemble. The music produced by yourselves on this channel is without par. Ever since I took up the violin in 2020 at 74 , i am struck by the beauty of all your concerts, of which I watch over and over. You inspire me. Thank you so much.
2:22 is truly a part were vivaldi started to express some sad emotions In his music. He shows how he is happy and excited but then he gets second thoughts. Only to follow through with his happiness
Maestro Vivaldi might have been in an angry mood when he composed this beautiful concerto intending to test the virtuosity of solo violinists. After enjoying the rendition I have to admit that your soloist, with the able support of other musicians, have performed it magnificently. Gracias.
@@VoicesofMusic Gracias por responder, sigo todos los videos que suben, apreciamos su maravillosa obra de divulgación de la mejor musica, sobre todo en estos tiempos en que valora más la apariencia que el contenido.
i would buy a 4k disc of these concerts ,please. Being in Australia there is no way i will ever see these concerts but thanks for putting them , in part , on You Tube in 4k .
Think she can play? Yes. Virtuosically. As always, the rest of the band is top drawer. I'm going to have to push this off on my friends who live in the San Francisco and bay area so that maybe they will be enticed to attend and support. If I'm not mistaken, Nic you know who already does.
Brilliant.. Must check out your performance schedule in Denver area.. I live up in Estes Park.. but I am origianlly from Manhattan..NYC I grew up on Jazz as a Drummer , but always secretly loved Classical.. just wasnt my instrument of choice or access at the time.. Of course Ive been in the Church on many occassions.. what a beautiful space for accoustics... cant go wrong with Vivaldi either.. I dont see your 2023 Calendar up.. Is there a chamber recital anytime in Feb or March., ?
The strange title « Grosso Mogul » which appears on one of the manuscripts is that of Schwerin but in no way in the autograph kept in Turin refers to the most famous diamond of Vivaldi’s time. The jewel belonged to Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal in India. Very skillful at promoting his own works, Vivaldi is said to have borrowed the nickname attributed to « Il Grosso Mogul », thus taking advantage of the brilliance of the jewel for his work. The cadenza of the concerto was probably improvised by the soloist, in this case Vivaldi. The composer thus reserves the assurance of showing his crazy virtuosity. He does not deprive himself in the first movement, using all the technique of the time: double strings, modulated arpeggios, acrobatic chromatic figures. This piece plays on the agility of the soloist and the accompaniment. Here again, the only limits allowed are those of today's interpreters. It goes without saying that Augusta McKay Lodge is a master violinist. *Lucien*
@@VoicesofMusic It's not at all the same thing by its title which can lead to confusion. The flute concerto Il Gran Mogol RV 813 was composed in the early 1730s. « Il Gran Mogol » appeared in the catalog of a Dutch bookseller in 1759 and was rediscovered by the musicologist Andrew Woolley among documents held at the National Archives of Scotland. Woolley had to reconstruct a missing part for the second violin based on another flute concerto by Vivaldi kept in Turin, which appears to be a reworked version of the original. « Il Gran Mogol » is a corpus of four concertos including La Francia (France), La Spagna (Spain) and L'Inghilterra (England). These last three pieces have not been found at this day. *Lucien*
Absolutamente soberbia versión del primer movimiento Allegro del Grosso Mogul . Gracias Voices of Music . Viva Vivaldi !!❤🎼🎻

Wonderful, I love Vivaldi! The speed metal of classical music :D
IMHO RV208 is the most powerful violin concerto ever from Vivaldi. Masterpiece 👍🔥👌

I don't think that it's a sad part, in reality, the minor's tonality is, in my opinion, more a dramatic part
What a stunning performance. Thank you.
Welcome!
I love this channel! pls, never stop making music
hope so...tx
Magnificent as Always.... Spectacular phrasing. My preferred ensemble.

OMG, it's amazing! 👏👏👏 I love Vivaldi. It's very good played!
Not only Bach made beautiful Baroque. This difficult piece is really beautiful and very well played. Greetings from the Netherlands.
This is clearly Vivaldi as in the title, but Bach is also very good of course.
@@danielemeroni7129 Beautiful Vivaldi, that’s for shure. You are absolutely right.
@@danielemeroni7129 Bach transcriped this concerto for Organ
How wonderfully joyous and invigorating!
No es una casualidad que J.S. Bach hiciese una transcripción de esta pieza, su BWV 594 para órgano. Maravillosa ejecución, gracias Voices of Music

There is also the lost flute concerto Il Gran Mogol which reappears in 2010.

Excelente. Não conhecia este. 🥲🥲
Does anyone know where can i find this cadenza? It's just so incredibly pleasant! (Pretty sure Augusta could make anything sound heavenly though xD)
It's similar to the ones published by Snakewood, or you can try the original manuscript. The original was tough going :)
Congratulations on your bi-coastal adventure!
