I've been trying to do a similar thing recently. I've started to enjoy going to museums and galleries to look around and just draw in my sketchbook. I would've been too scared before (as an introvert) but it's become this new therapeutic thing I plan on doing more often. I don't even mind the people that come and look and ask questions since it's just nice to show and tell them about your work.
Great footage - I recognize all the areas ... (le sigh!) your vids are leaving me home sick for TO. That aside, again - loving this series! You've got it all nailed down: filming, editing, timing, music, helpful info about the art and materials, presentation, peaks into the surroundings and what you're eating/drinking lol, ... I wouldn't change a thing and looking forward to Ep4!! Hey! congrats on Tumble!!
Bg + ambiente sounds was *CHEF’S KISS*
I like the background music with the ambient cafe sounds
I really like the music with cafe ambience, I think it sets the vibe perfectly. Just my opinion though. Love your work!
Nice café choice for that area. ☕️🍪
Oh I just LOVE it! The music, your drawings, and a little virtual trip to Toronto... I discovered a new fav RUclips channel! Bravo and thank you for sharing :-)
the background music with chatting voices is actually pretty nice ! I'm always eager to watch your sketch sessions, thanks for sharing it
the second sketch is my most favourite...the colours and the pose also the jacket looked so nice
looking forward to see more episode of this series
I remember that I went to Le Gourmand to get some sweets for my friend, and end up seeing you drawing. I didn’t want to interrupt your recording and make this awkward, so I just mind my own business. I’m really excited to see you in person!
i love this series of yours! it's the second video of the series that got me hooked on your channel after finding it on my RUclips feed. not speaking for everyone, but in my opinion, I think what you did in this video for the music is a great idea! leaving some room for the natural cafe ambience while also having lo-fi chill music playing gives off the perfect vibe for these types of videos. i do kind of feel like the volume of the music might be a little bit loud in the video here but some people might prefer it this way, so follow the majority :) thank you so much for stepping out of your comfort zone for these videos, they are really enjoyable and I think you're doing great! :D
Ive always loved the gestural and flowy feeling of ur figures, so sketchbook sessions like these are always a treat!! Thanks for the amazing content as always, chris 💖💖
Finally meeting the artist. I welcome long videos, thanks. And thanks for staying at the cafe to finished the third sketch, the cookie, and the coffee!
i am loving these café videos 🤍🤍
Music with cafe sounds is perfect--definitely my favorite!
I hope one day I can sketch outside too! I’ve been a little scared about traveling and interacting due to person reasons but it seems fun! Even though you weren’t feeling the best about drawing in the cafe today, I loved this video and I’m enjoying all of these cafe sessions! I love your candor and your commentary ❤😊
I have really been enjoying this series! They’re great to watch through once, taking in the atmosphere and your lovely sketches, and then on subsequent watches wonderful to put on in the background to sketch along with. And I for one LOVE the music/background noise combo! Exactly what I enjoy most for both of the ways I enjoy your videos!
i am in love with this cafe hop series!! it makes me wanna go to a cafe everytime and sit down with my sketchbook or a good book 🥰all of your sketches looked super cute at the end too!!
Love the music with people chatting in the background. 💜
2 seconds in and im already feeling cozy ewe
love your art and this video series, you cant imagine how much your videos impacted me ... I started drawing again thanks to you
IM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY SEE YOUR FACE, CONGRATULATIONS FOR TAKE THAT JUMP!!!
LOVE you video….just found it! I like the mixture and local sound combined…..It keeps you grounded in the space.Great art….great ambience!
Pretty much me and my fiance's favorite pastime, sitting in coffee shops drawing. :)
This video was so relaxing hearing the cafe sounds and the music 🤌🏾 I hope you get to have a more fun and less stressful session next time! I love this series, I’m gonna miss it so much! Also, that last drawing reminded me of bubble tea because of the colours and the dots! I loved all the drawing but the second has my heart because I love those angles of that suit top!💗
🤍🤍
I think you need to trust the process, the last sketch turned out so pretty ❤ (all of them).
I love this so much! Wonderfully done and edited.
Love the video and your art style, i used to do this all the time, just recently moved away from toronto so i appreciate the background noise of a busy cafe !
I really enjoy your cafe vlog style vids. Definitely makes me want to go have treats and coffee. The lofi music just sets the perfect tone before you start sketching. So relaxing and mellow
This is so pleasurable to follow ✨
I do this with live people, in parks. Instant sketches with moving people. It's great to grow your drawing skills.
I was just saying how peaceful the music and voices sound I really missed your videos happy to see you back💕
We all hope you’re doing well in your life. God bless you.
Love your art, and especially like how you make your videos. Cutting and framing are spot on. Love that you have perceptive comments thru-out.
I started sketching a few years ago because I often go on cycling tours on my own and it’s something to do in a cafe or a pub to fill the time but also is a great way of capturing memories. I hadn’t thought of sketching from photos I’ve just taken for that purpose but I’m definitely going to start.
I just moved to Mississauga and you've inspired me to go sketching on weekends, so thank you for these lovely videos!✨
I LOVE when you do markers :)
PLEASE PLEASE CONTINUE THIS SERIES
Fantastic love the drawings love the colours in the drawings of the clothes great video
Well they turned out great 👍🏼 I also love what you are wearing 😊
I hear you with drawing in cafes being stressful, on the one hand I do kind of love it but I also feel obliged to draw what's going on around me and I am just not quick/confident enough to get things in a way I am happy with. I never actually considered taking references with me to a cafe and just drawing whilst there.
I do love that blazer one! And I love how you kinda reinvented the outfits a little with your colour combinations!
Video is soooo aesthetic music with the cafe is amazing Chris ! And how pretty you are. ❤ so glad your back.
I did this all the time working on new ideas or designs. I loved to go to different coffee shops. The sounds in the background would change to a sort of white noise as I would spin in and out of my drawing process. This is a great and inspiring channel. Also perfect music for this vibe.
I love these videos 🥺 they're so cozy and relaxing to watch.
Even if you don’t continue with the cafe art series, it was fun to see a bit of Toronto and inside some cafés.
Working from fashion photos is a great way to get inspiration for your wardrobe and art….very smart!
I love this series, it’s something I have always wanted to do, yes cafe sketching,it’s on my bucket list, just haven’t had the confidence to do it yet.
Thank you for showing us your progress ✨❤️ I like how you use your creativity and skills to make new ways to improve your drawings, that's really cool, that means you have a good attention to details! I really love this series and your art. keep going, you're doing it great ☺️
I'm using my Tombow for brushlettering or watercolor art, but I'm doing a few strokes on a plate or palette and after that use a watertank brush for painting. It's much easier this way to find the right "dose" and the colors are very light, so I can paint a lot of darker layers over it.
really enjoying this series so far. looking forward to the next one!
hehe, thanks so much chris for making this series. whenever you chat in your subtitles, i kinda respond in my head so its a nice chatty vibe... lately art has been very hard - i've been having to unlearn bad art habits and i feel lost when it comes to having an artistic voice. seeing your art which has so much identity, and hearing your honesty with struggling sometimes ... both feel very validating and inspiring. can't wait to see the next diary and more of ur vids in the future. cheers to 2023...
p.s. i like the ambient music w/ bg noise, feels like im right there with you!!
Great work! 💞I love this series! 🤩 Thank you so much for your videos! Much appreciated! 🙏
wow, I'm super early! I'm actually currently working in my sketchbook, funny coincidence!
Excuse me while I go follow that instagram account 😍 great video, I love to see art outings like this
I’m really enjoying this series! Thank you for making them. Happy holidays ❤
I love this series! Seeing your process is so interesting and inspiring! I also like the Toronto footage since I lived there for 12 years and I miss it haha. If it's still open you should check out the Black Canary on Sherbourne, or Rooster on King (I know you went to another Rooster but I feel like this one is more chill). Personally I like the no-music, background-noise-only like the last episode, but I enjoyed this one too, with a mix. Looking forward to the next one!!
love watching these!!! both for the art and also the cafe reccomendations since i live in toronto too lolol
I'm glad you are enjoying this series as much as I am.
It's great to see artists enjoy what they do, and it warms my heart knowing you're not trying to force yourself into anything while recording these videos. I think as a creator you should only make what makes *you* happy, although I can understand money wise why some may not. I'm just glad you can make these videos without fear of losing any revenue (or at least losing support.)
Lovely video as always, happy holidays and please keep being happy! ❤💖💗
As it seems to be with any and all artists, you're always too hard on yourself! I think adding that layer of warmth to the hair was a great move, and the third sketch is so beautiful. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it very interesting to see all of your sketches, including warm up sketches! They don't have to be videos of finished pieces for me to be interested. I really enjoyed this video, I hope we get a lot more like this
that cookie did look really good 😀 I actually really like the chisel tip on markers, can fill in so much space quicky. great sketches, every fluid
I love these videos they are so fun to draw with!
Just came across this video and I am now hooked. Love the format! Time to binge. 😀
I’ve been loving your videos like this 🙌🏾 I want to visit more cafes and do stuff like this when I move 😌
Very tasteful choice of music! Love it!
These are so relaxing 😌💗 thanks for making these
This was so much fun to watch and very inspiring! I love the way your sketches turned out.
love love love this idea for drawing clothes, I think I need to do something like this!
I'm so curious what your setup is for filming yourself drawing at a cafe tho, that seems logistically challenging !!
i love this series! the bgm is so nice :-)
Very nice work, this is what used to do when going to a cafe.
dude the size of that coffee wow hahaha amazing! Love this series!
Thank you ^^ your cafe shop video are very relaxing and the drawing results are gorgeous.
I personaly use tombow marker with a fillable water brush to create gradiant, but I also never use alcool maker because of the smell that makes me sick, so it's more a adaptation than a real choice ':)
Also since tombow maker have a foam nib is really comfortable for inking, it give a lot of control and variation.
i love this series!!
you're slaying with these series! so happy that there's another episode💗💗💗💗
great work as always! I’m hoping to go to a cafe to draw soon myself! Have a wonderful day! ❤️
I look forward to your cafe hop diaries series every time 🥺 i hope that i could try doing this myself sometime soon c: thank you for inspiring wannabe illustrators like me 🤗
It’s just marvellous!!! When I was watching this video I suddenly realised that you are my favorite artist ever!!! I’m not kidding haha ❤ such a good feeling
It's beautiful you are talented YAH'S creation. Congratulations ❤️👍 from Your new friend 😄
For your next videos: drawing or painting , with model/subject in person, environmental portraiture.
I've seen people use the Tombow ABTs for brush pen calligraphy mainly and to add splashes of color to doodles and for journaling.
Love this! (The Tombow markers are very popular for lettering.)
Love your art work !! ! ! !
I really like that you leave the sound in the background with the music, it's a shame you didn't have a great time making this video :( but I really like your sketches
i love your skills and your lovely smile. Nice to meet your here.
❤Cafe Hop Diaries!!!
You're so beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
markers are the bestttttt idk what it is but im addicted to them
this was so good!
I love this!!
I Love your work sooo much! Love from Brazil! ♡
So cute !
I love your sketches! Also cool hairstyle
truly inspiring - as always
I spent a month in Toronto on a student exchange program and man, I wish I could go again. Seems fun to go draw in cafes, wish I could pay for it frequently
I enjoy this series. Quite relaxing. If I may ask, what is the type of tripod arm you are using to hold up your phone? It seems to have a long reach. Thanks 🙏🏾
I’m curious too …
I wonder if the people we artists use as references ever find the art made with their references and I also wonder how that makes them feel? Like, what reaction does someone have when they see themselves as a drawing/inspiration for a drawing?
Totally relatable. I do ig scrolling to draw and paint (a portion practice realism and the half of the portion is letting my style flow).😂
I love this vlog style content
Love the mix on markers, colours, neon, etc. Any marker’s brand preferred???
still good job !!! really wanna do some sketching soon
Do these videos plsss they are sooooo goood 😊😊😊
Excellent work 😍❤️❤️❤️
Nice drawing 👏👏👏
