You didnt talk about it but Hoyo has try to do something about Bennett since version 1. Hu Tao wants to stay at low hp but Bennett heals to much. Ayaka can use Bennett but her best teams doesnt use him, same with Itto where Bennett added value is really low. Then we got to 3.0 and dendro teams where Bennett is no longer the best option. And finally in 4.1 we got the strongest dps Neuvillette and Bennett is useless for Neuvillette. Furina is a top tier support and you can't reach max stacks with Bennett alone. And soon we will reach Natlan and meet the Pyro Archo(Or maybe even Pyro Dragon Sovereing) and perhaps Bennett will be powercrept. But personally I think that this is unlikely because atk is an almost universal stat and releasing Bennett 2.0 will just free him for the second side of the abyss.
So true I started playing first Lantern rite and as new characters would come up it was always "Bennett makes them obsolete before they even come out" dont hear that anymore much since I think its so obvious and been like that 2 years people likenu say are over it and honestly never had much fun with him anyway always played who I liked
which is why they release niche characters for specific team that is better than bennet for those specific team composition. hu tao team is better off using xingqiu yelan at the same team since the sub dps adds more damage than bennet’s buff (on top of yelan’s sub dps, she also buffs with ultimate overtime) HP scaling characters like Furina, Neuvilette. elemental reaction foccused characters like nahida agravate and hyperbloom team doesnt use bennet. Shenhe is better than Bennet for Ayaka Xiao is better with of with Xianyun than Bennet (but again you can run both for this case) and many more. yes bennet is still very powerful and will still be used even with new characters like for example Lyney, Navia, Arlecchino, or even future Clorinde if she scales from atk. but having other supports as an option is actually fun to experiment with

I still remembered the first time I ever did a 10 pulls and I got 2 Bennett and so I tested him out, but he just dies, got revived and dies again, so I swear to myself that I will never use him ever again. Fast forward to some 3 years later, this current stupid iteration of spiral abyss finally broke my vow, leveled him up to matched everyone else and managed to clear it just barely.
I think the way to reduce Bennett's presence is to add more characters that scale off stats other than attack or add characters that can be an alternative to Bennet.

No they made the starter characters overpowered on purpose. Genshin is not Hoyo's first game far from it, Honkai Impact has a much more complicated meta with many more stats, this is childs play for Hoyoverse everything they did was on purpose. It's so you imagine that you can play f2p but Hoyo has the confidence that the game will draw you in and spend money and most players do eventually due to the sunken cost fallacy
Just to start off I don’t use Bennett at all. I only used him once on my Pirate Team because i didn’t want to have two Beidou’s in one place. But other than that i don’t use him. But It did cross my mind when i built him to be a pirate that He is the ONLY Pyro Normal Sword user. No other Pyro character uses a one-hand Sword just Claymores. Just like Ningguang is the Only Geo Catalyst. They are very unique in that way. So that doesn’t help any.
Overall, I’m sick of only having him as an option in the atk buffer role. It’s been years atp since his release. They didn’t have to release someone better than him in every aspect. They could have released someone who has bad energy requirements but provided a bigger atk buff for example. I’m also sick of Xiangling and her being married to the bone with Bennett. Her ER requirements is ABYSMAL without him and even then, it never feels like it’s enough. How is she still the only pyro sub dps in the game four years later?…. I’m not asking for straight up powercreep. I’m asking for more options. More reliable comfortable options. My only and last hope is the pyro archon. If they’re worried that someone with the same roles as these two might break the game or whatever then they should have the pyro archon take the mantle since it’s usually the role of the archon to be completely broken. There. Problem solved.
I always didn't liked that he is so good forever. The fact that he exists and so effective is the reason why I love dendro and Fontaine metas. Because they make you do anything different from circle impact with infinite attack. Dendro made Bennett worse, because he is almost worthless for burgeon, and also bad for electro dps characters, because the possibility of triggering overload instead of aggravate is not the best, and dendro reactions will make up for the loss of atk. He only got an upgrade for, like, Ganyu burn melt, and that is it. Meanwhile, for Fontaine, only Lyney and overload teams need Bennett. Navia as well, but she can also work for almost mono geo. But Neuvilette, even tho I despise how braindead his dmg is, he at least makes Bennett less useful, and Furina making only more niche healers, like Jean, Noelle and Charlotte and, again, not scaling from Bennett's buffs IS the reason why I believe Furina was THE BEST addition to this game. She makes you reconsider team building as a whole. However, I think Natlan will make a full circle for Bennett. At least for pyro archon. A lot of people think that pure attack will be the focus of Natlan, and, well.... Bennett is broken for his attack. Even if pyro archon will become a better buffer than Bennett, he will still be used. Either with the archon for more buffs, or in another team to buff almost like an archon. If not Bennett, we could have gotten more interesting buffers in my opinion. It would have made the game more diverse. But ofc, the worst part about Bennett are his clothes. Bro really wears one of the most atrocious drips I have seen in my whole life. His shirt looks like he found it in the trash, the book that he will never use is for some reason here, those stupid goggles and the boots.. Well, they ar elinda charming, but will you notice them everytime? No. Or, at least, not as much as the shirt. And he is just too loud and annoying. I am not depressed person, but I do not like too optimistic guys. So yeah. Bennett be damned.
Or you can just Bite the Bullet…release a statement telling the players oh shit we goofed and made these characters a bit overturned. It’s for the sake of game balance we’re sorry here’s 60 Primos…done.
And the ironic thing is big dawg is Genshin with there events they ALWAYS give out Bennett EVERY year except for the concert event with Paimon and itto singing

Bennett, Xiangling, Xq and Fischl were all mistakes, I don't build them in purpose just so I can have fun with new characters otherwise there is no point in any of the new 4*s and even half of the 5*s

I used him, then decided to try other team combos.
As a Day 1 player, I didn't build Bennett and XQ because I am a waifu over meta player...
Here I just want another Bennett because i have all atk scaling dps.
