    Wow! Didn't know this was done. Just amazing! I bet the guys driving the trains appreciate people filming them doing this amazing service.

    I cannot get over how little harmonic roll there is. That's a good indication of good ballast, ties, and rail. I applaud the Maintenance of Way (a.k.a. maintenance in the way).

    😀 I jumped when the first train went through. That looks like fun. I know it's serious work BUT I would so love to do that just a little bit maybe a mile.

    Very nice video plus how come have a 2 Snow plows and 2 Locomotives for??

    • @evanstauffer4470
      @evanstauffer4470 5 лет назад +2

      They have a plow at each end so they can plow in either direction without having to turn the consist. A second locomotive is used to provide better traction (12 powered axles are better than 6), and to guard against locomotive failure. If one locomotive fails on the road, the consist can still make it back to base with the other locomotive (It beats sitting out in the middle of nowhere with one broken locomotive waiting for help to arrive!)

    Looks like the ex bar plow has much larger wings and plows the snow further away from the tracks
