Wish they would show loading the trucks that haul it to the landfill. I assume that the dozer is pushing it up and then a truck will pull up and get filled.
That one piece that looked like a wood bed frame could be pulled out and used as fire wood. Toward the end as the dozer was going up higher I was waiting for it to tip backwards
It seems like that guy on the dozer is doing a hell of a lot of work, yet accomplishing nothing. He's barely moving anything. He's just driving up and down a massive mound of shit.
Kenneth Jones ... That’s exactly the point. He’s crushing and preparing the trash to be loaded into Transfer Trucks. On the far side of that mound of shit are chutes which the truck drivers park their trailers under. The dozer then pushes the trash into the trailers which are below ground. The more he compacts the trash, the better. Fluffy trash is harder to load, and less fits in the trailer. Yours is a 2 year old comment, but some others might like to know.
The guy who dumped at beginning was an idiot i run dumpsters to transfer stations all day and u NEVER let your door swing like that major safety hazzard!
That's a good sized pit, wonder how many truck loads you could fit in there until the garbage sits level with the rim? How does this place work... dozer just pushes the stuff to a packer on one side of the pit or something? Cool to see a load of rubbish slide out of a roll-off container =] Awesome sound of the dozer when you were right in front of the exhaust at the start.
i noticed there is not a single bit of waste segregation going on . in the uk these types of dumps have long since been phased out , here every single piece of trash has to be sorted and recycled where possible . in my county in wales , uk , there has been a zero waste to landfill for last few years . does any recycleing take place there
MrStuartread yes there is recycling. This may just be a transfer station. The sorting may be done at the landfill or at another facility. I hauled rash for 14 years and have seen it done both ways

If i had to guess id say cold water. 1 to keep the dust down and 2 to keep the heat down.....it probably gets pretty ripe in there in the summer. Could even be some form of liquid nitrogen.
How inefficient, only crushes the Width of the Tracks [2 x 30 inches on a 88 inch wide dozer- crazy waste of a dozer] and well away from the discharge feed wall and lots of dust not kept down via a water misting system and a odor additive. When will towns/cities learn from the Europeans on waste sorting for recyclables [hear all the metal/glass being dumped into the Pit] - losing recyclable revenues which extends the life of Landfills. All Transfer Station Management need to stop being CHEAP and change their operational models and look too make extra revenues, especially on food wastes-which can be composted for sales revenues. Bet the dozer operational costs are not really viable for the tonnage I see coming into the pit- fuel alone must be 12 to 18 Gallons Per Hour consumption and bet they have severe wear and tear on all the tracks and filters and look at all the waste getting hung up on the machines exteriors and the machine looks like it is never washed down?
Would've enjoyed the video more if I could have gotten used to the terrible camera shake due to your insistence on walking backwards and forwards following the dozer.
Can only imagine how many lovely shoes are in there.
Whoever loaded the first load deserves the golden dumpster loader prize
Seriously, that was some, "No second trips", packing.
It’s cool to see all the garbage trucks coming to the transfer station at one time
Cool video. I live in El Paso which is only a quick drive down from LC. I wish transfer stations were still used here. Thanks for the good work.

Be good to see where the garbage is pushed to. Is it to a conveyor then pulverised or some other process?
I can smell it through my screen
Seems like a very well-run transfer station! Great work!

I think the dozer goes back and forth so he compacts the garbage.
Can u imagine the smell of that place
Lol hell yeah 🤤
Actually the smell is not bad it only smells inside the facility outside it’s very clean
Its actually a Komatsu dozer, shame its not a CAT.

Well! That was very Interesting watching a Bulldozer going back and forth over the Garbage. YAWN!
Richard Simpson well it must be interesting to you because you watched it
When the garbage starts piling up in your neighborhood you won't think it's a "yawn".

hey ken, why don't you go to South Central Solid Waste and the operator of the dozer why are you barely moving anything ca ca mouth
Nice dump at the beginning! Would've like to see more though... That bulldozer sounded awesome.

Ever thought about changing the concept of compaction from horizontal to vertical ?

Keep scraping the top 6" of trash for job security.
just keep dumping trash. There's the job security.
Keeping shallow compacted layer to reduce wear on the concrete floor
I bet all types of wire love that dozers undercarriage.
Constant battle
I see no reclaim or recycling down at all in this video and wye not
As it's a scam to recycle
Recyclables are top loaded in another bay, only trash is put into the surge pit
Because all of your recyclable go straight to the landfill
Where all the trash go
