    Considerably more expensive but check out the Key-Bar. Does well what the Key Smart Classic doesn't and there are many accessories for it including knives you can integrate alongside your keys.

    Great video. The lack of one-handed use for the KeySmart is an absolute deal breaker.

    I got the keysmart with built in Tile. I like that it has a little light built in for inserting keys in a dark spot.. Nice to have Tile rechargable vs the normal ones which need to be replaced. It's pricey but if you combine the cost of a Tile location device and the cost of a keysmart classic it's actually reasonable. Also nice to have a button to locate your phone built into the keychain as well. I'm loving mine after having it a year. It's come in handy. I haven't lost my keys but the piece of mind is great. I agree that it's a pain to get the keys on but I worked out a system after a while. I keep keys for my home on one side and the office on the other with the most important keys as the easiest to access. It becomes a habit pretty quick and using it with one hand is totally doable. Anyways... Thanks again for the awesome videos.

    Just a heads-up. It is technically possible to replicate your keys with just stills from this video so you may want to change some of them now!

    I uses keysmart for a while, but didn't really like the feel to it. Always felt like I'm prying open a key lock with a screwdriver. I switched to orbitkey, which has nice leather and polymere bows around the keys and love it.

    I have 2 larger than usual keys so I bought the extended keysmart to fit them. A happy but unintended accident to this is that my keyfob, identical style to yours, fits into the keysmart. The only reason it probably fits though is because it sits across from a smaller than usual key. I used the extensions so I could fit in 5 keys plus my fob.
    I think the classic fits you better though. It's more compact, and you already have the loop attachment on the keysmart to fit the multi tool so the fob being outside of it probably doesn't add much inconvenience. Although you might be able to fit that multitool into the longer extended keysmart, and then with extenders add your fob....

    I use a knock off of the keysmart. And I like it. Just like you I have just two keys in it which makes it quite empty. This would be really good for 3-4 keys.
    The trick to not fumble while filling it with keys is by putting one side enough to hold everything yet movable, this way the second side is easy to insert and then tighten both as you like.

    I have the swiss army knife style and I love it. I use it with only one hand, thats because I have the extention(cause i use 8 keys and they are alternated).
    The worst part was to put it together, I want it to use the same force to every key.

    I put my small stack of keys in my "5th pocket" (small pocket on right side) which are connected to one ring on a carabiner which clips to the nearest beltloop. Works perfectly!

    If you don't carry that much keys, try the orbitkey! Comes in rubber, leather, canvas versions. I had the keysmart before but it was too heavy and if it gets thrown in a bag or pocket with other items, it'll easily scratch those other items. 😕

    • @HelloDavid
      @HelloDavid  6 лет назад

      Yeah. It's been something I've had my eye on. A little pricey to get up here in Canada but maybe one day I'll try it.

    Nice review David. Regarding the KeySmart tool I didn't notice a car key/fob? How much more bulky do you think that would be if you added one? It seems like that might be more bulky than a traditional loose key ring - what are your thoughts?

    • @v1d300
      @v1d300 6 лет назад +4

      I am not David :) but I give you my opinion on this.
      The KeySmart thing isn't really to reduce the bulk as such but make it more organized when you carry it. This way the pocket has more space and when you want to use it you don't really have to fumble while using the correct key.
      Even with a car key/fob this would create a bit less of a bulk than a regular key chain as it keeps all the keys together in between those, easy to grab and pull.
      But with key/fob there is another problem with the KeySmart. If you like to keep the keys one below the another then its fine but if you like to keep them in front of each other then the one on the side of key/fob will be problematic to use.

    • @HelloDavid
      @HelloDavid  6 лет назад +2

      I agree with v1d300 comment. Especially his thoughts on using it with keys on both sides with a fob, I didn't think about it but yeah would probably be problematic in that situation. Not an issue for me because I keep my car fob and home keys separate. Maybe not the safest idea but I leave my keys in my car and just hold the fob, or just the home keys if I don't take the car. I don't like carrying both at the same time.

    I have an old lanyard that I got from when they were promoting the _original_ xbox back in 2001. All my keys are just attached to it by rings on a carabiner as the original ring on the lanyard broke ages ago but the rest is super strong. It's old, it's dirty and the with the addition of my cars key fob is way oversized now but I've had the basis of it for nearly 18 years.
    You can swing it around when you are bored. If needed you could beat someone to death with it, but more then likely the clip comes undone and either the keys fly off randomly somewhere or more then likely they unclip just as the keys are to swing past your head... done that more then once :p I'm so used to the whole thing I would be lost with out it.
    If you don't have many keys then sure simplifying them could be a good thing but as for putting them on and off a key ring, how often do you do it for it to become annoying.. I put keys on a ring maybe once...

    yay another video :) by any chance can you share how many keys you can stack on the key smart classic? by the looks of it, it seems like it can only stack two keys? it would be great if you can share how many keys you can put in the each of the 3 key accessories and also the material of the accessories. it would also be great if you can give us details on the materials of each of the 3 key accessories ( hard plastic, or thin plastic that looks flimsy etc.
    Cheers 2018!

    • @HelloDavid
      @HelloDavid  6 лет назад

      You're always asking the tough (but great) questions! The key smart also includes longer screws to attach more keys. I'd say I could stack a total of 4 (or maybe more if I didn't use spacers) but I believe they have different editions that could do more. No material issues on any of them. They all feel solid and are all metal.

      Yeah, you're right. I've yet to pull the trigger on a satisfactory EDC keys solution, myself - It's cool to see that someone else is also in a similar situation. :D
      Since posting my comment, I've discovered there's a live Kickstarter for Orbitkey's new EDC keys solution.
