WAIT. Dude I just noticed you are who used to be EKdrifter458. Oh my god man I used to watch you all the way back in 2013-2014 when you used to do your GTA V custom cars. You were one of my inspirations to start RUclips. What an honour to have you in my comments😂
To be honest, the lifestyle experience was what made me fall in love with the game. You go in your house to chill, go inside of an actual dealership to buy etc. I hope Solar Crown will take these elements to the next level.
Specially if The Crew 2 tried experimenting with it too, so they have the confirmation that they CAN improve it combining the base of TDU2 and the modern hardwares
I still remember spending 99% of time in TDU2 buying different houses and exploring interiors. Theres this one amazing hillside villa with waterfall, which I will cherish in my memory forever. I hope solar crown will be at least half as good as TDU2
‘Falls House’ is the most expensive of the 4 that offer this view. You’re thinking of the more expensive 4-star hous- mansions. They are not houses. No way the 4-stars are houses.
Man, I remember finding TDU2 on accident in the xbox store when i was looking for TC1 DLC, it was on sale, and i had spare pocket money, so i thought "why not"? and i was absolutely blown away, I thought "why is no one talking about this? It's better than horizon 2!" (keep in mind i was playing 360 Horizon 2). I love so much about this game, it has flaws, but I feel myself looking easily past them, because this game does so much right! I love the houses, I spent hours in them, just looking around, I love the car list, it's my favourite era of cars (2000-2012). I love the driving schools, I love the huge map, I love the **proper** character customisation, I love the cheesy cutscenes, I love the roof and window adjustability, I could keep going but I'd probably end up writing 10 lines. I spent so long on those damn driving schools as a kid. I remember spending WEEKS on that damn Aston Martian one, but it was so damn rewarding to finally clear it, then buying that Aston as a symbol of my success, and using it to win the championship, it made me feel like I actually belonged driving in these fast hypercars, I earned it, I deserved it. It really is an experience I haven't felt again in a racing game. can we just appreciate horizon 1 and this game dropping a fat $10,000,000 on you after beating them? it's so damn satisfying to buy all those cars on your wishlist, because you beat the game, you earned the right to have this money because you played, I remember as a kid, having to choose between the CCXR or Veyron for the final championship, and I was so split on which to buy, cause I didn't think I'd get the money to buy both, but after I won that final championship with the CCXR, I straight away took a fast pass to the dealer and bought that Veyron, then did that championship all over again. (probably because I wanted to see if I could win another 10 mil... I couldn't :( ). but I was so happy I got to have both of them. I feel like every comment I have to bring up "FH4 bad". guess I'm doing it again here (I do like FH4, hell, I own every damn car, I just have so many problems with it). Is it just me? or did FH4 try to copy a lot of what TDU2 did, but just... worse...? like, when the game was being revealed, they announced houses, and I was so damn exited. again I get to spend hours walking around Edinbrough(?) castle, displaying my cars, looking out the window! Game comes out and it's just a glorified background to customize your cars on, such a letdown... again, they seemed to be adding more convertibles, like the 650S spider, 720S spider, Portifino, 356 Roadster, and more, but there's no real point to owning them because you can't even put the roof up or down, you can in forzavista, but not in freeroam, another big letdown (and I am aware FH5 is now **actually** letting us put our roofs down in freeroam, just took them nearly 10 years after TDU2 did it). And the goddamn character customisation... I'm one of the 3 people who loves character customisation in racing games, and was exited to hear it as a feature in FH4, but instead we got chicken suits, and Fortnite dances... another letdown in which TDU2 handled really well. One last thing I wanna say is, I'm really enjoying your content, I'm just now watching your FH1 LP, and I love these videos which quickly go over some of these legendary games from my childhood, so thank you for making these videos, really good stuff.
I've found TDU2 on accident too. Back in 2011 one of my school mates told me that he has bought a decent racing game (NFS Unleashed 2) which i should buy too. But he can't remember the name He just said there is an Aston Martin on the Cover and it has a "2" in it's name. So next day i took the train to the next gaming store and bought a game with an Aston Martin on the Cover and a "2" in it's name (TDU2). Next day at school i talked with my mate and found out that i actually bought the wrong game. Because i don't had any money left to buy a train ticket to replace the game, i kept the game in the end. So it's become one of my favourite Games (by accident) with No regrets 😂🏆♥️
Its pretty impressive that the 360 and PS3 could handle this games maps. 1,000 square miles is pretty damn large and we hardly see maps that size anymore. There was a game called Fuel that came out in 2009 that had a map that was nearly 6,000 square miles. It took almost 3 hours to cross.
Played it at 2012, my old pc had its last hurrah with this. I don't remember how many months I've spent on this game. The cruising aspect was doubled at Hawaii thanks to offroad content. Time of my life... Thank you for bringing those beautiful memories man. Great work! Looking forward for more.
Amazing video that highlights an underrated game... Physics and handlings are the racing games' most important aspect. It's the first thing you look at and feel and can ruin your experience and the game might have horrible reviews and some franchises fell down because of it (NFS Undercover for example), yet TDU2 managed to get past it and I always tend to forget about how stiff cars handled in TDU2. It was almost a challenge. For the first time, a game doesn't change its handlings for the player but rather the player learns how to drive based on the game's handlings. That's just to say how much TDU2's large content, huge map and the luxurious lifestyle make you forget the handling's issue. Not to mention the game's soundtrack that grew on me, I still have some of its soundtrack on my playlist and I listen to it everyday. Buying a car in other games is just about pressing a button however here you get to go to a dealer, test drive the car. Just buying a car is a whole experience. The story is very long I never managed to finish it, I can't say it's a bad thing it's a more simulation driven game and I couldn't play it for more than 1 hour, I used to emulate the game on my MacBook it would overheat pretty quickly
Accurate title 😂. I remember there was a glitch where you could keep doing the last race (which gave you $5M each time). So my friend and I kept doing it until we became billionaires 💰
To this day I'm impressed by the game... I was really addicted to it for years and it just was one of the most influential gaming experiences ever to me! It just felt like a place you'd want to hang out at all afternoon once school was over... The whole game felt friendly and welcoming and like a real life simulation almost, a very car focused one that's to say. The Crew 1 was the closest any game has ever gotten to this but it didn't feel quite that diverse.
This is what u get when developers care about their games and out there heart and soul in it. I have not played such a game (made with heart and soul) in a very long time, too long of a time! I Hope they make a TDU3 with the same the love they had with tdu2
This game is a true masterpiece. I used to play this game on my cousin's house as a nine year old kid. It felt like entering a completely new world. No other racing game ever compared to it.
I will never forget how I discovered this game when I was a kid. Unfortunatelly I have never fully experienced online in this game, however TDU World is growing, and more features should come out eventually. TDU2 is special game, it's 10 years old, and there is still no other game that could match with it. I feel bad for people who doesn't want to play it because it's old, they don't know what they are missing
wanted a vid like this forever. this was a huge chunk of my life. i was zomied out while playing this game to the point that i get no excitement from car games today(gtao coming close). many games look good and play good but they lack a deep soul, that voice calling you to join its world like a perfect acid trip.
I think the thing that sets Test Drive Unlimited 2 back was the development budget. Loads of cars that featured in the first game didn't appear in this one, and that was kind of a deal breaker as those cars were legendary, such as the Jaguar XJ220 and the McLaren F1. It would have been nice if the gameplay was longer and the story mode was set on Ibiza a little bit more, but other than that, The game is brilliant.
I remember as a little kid playin this game and I unlocked Hawaii I was so pumped, got my yacht after 4 months of playing and miss this game so much. Any video game masters out there I’m waiting for it: TDU 2 “Remastered”😮
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this video, is that TDU fans LOVEEE your car washes, Enough so that me simply pointing out how I think they should have been more about washing your car is enough to get my family doxxed over. Grow, up.
The car washes are stupid. Legitimately no reason to have women dancing around your vehicle. So outdated and honestly cringe. But hey, the car looks great after!
@@UltraViolet_Moses to be fair I don't like the car washes either. Gran Turismo 5 car washes are THE gold standard! Not to mention the oil changes and paint spraying.
3 years late, I know. But I reckon the car washing would've been satisfying if we could wash the cars ourselves... Like washing our dogs on Nintendogs. Now that was satisfying!
This (and its predecessor, but mostly this) got me through COVID. For that, I'm eternally grateful. Says something about the game's quality that it had massive random lag spikes and yet I persevered to the finale. They really don't make them like they used to.
TDU 2, Dirt 2 and 3, F1 2010 - 2013, I just feel like these were the best racing games ever made. When I play some of the above mentioned games, I instantley feel like a 12year-old again on a cold winter morning at my parent's house. thanks for the nostalgia trip, I am booting up my PS3 again to play this Gem :)
Looking forward to solar crown but id love for Horizon to introduce some features, especially the houses and walk around features. Id love to walk around my house with friends in Horizon
I don’t think the car wash scenes are offensive in TDU2, it’s too low budget to even be offensive considering that the character models look like manikins with human skin. Good video anyways
Great video, really, enjoyed the whole hour! I can't believe I haven't found a single race track on Oahu when I played it way back. Really shows how big the maps are. I might have to find a PS3 disk for myself, the nostalgia is getting to me big time! By the way, your Solar Crown talk closer to the end is almost word for word my thoughts I wrote about a week ago)) My personal concern is that KT Racing hasn't done an open-world racing game prior to TDU SC. I'll keep my fingers crossed for them. Thank you for making this video, more people should get to know TDU 2 and it's quirks and features :)
Your videos are amazing, I'm so glad I discovered you! From this to the FH5 videos, truly interesting and underrated documentaries! Keep up the great work.
I'm happy to see that Test Drive Unlimited 2 is getting the recognition it deserves, i loved this game when i played it in the Xbox 360, my biggest achievement was to have my R8 in my Villa
Thanks Moses for a long record review of the game! Really good overview. I spent this hour in good spirits and a lot of nostalgia for the TDU franchise. I really like both TDU games and have 2 copies of PC licensed DVDs. TDU2 lacks physics, but better graphics. Ibiza looks great and Hawaii 2.0 with off-road tracks and a new palette looks really different and more modern, but the sunset in TDU 1 seems to me much better.
Me and all my friends did the community center glitch. We all had a gazillion dollars and bought every fucking thing this game had to offer. Great game
Going through some TDU2 nostalgia after hearing the let down of a tiny map for TDUSC and the delayed release date. Great video, highlighted the best and worst bits we all experienced playing this classic. One thing I have to mention is that I do not find the comments at 30:07 true. One of my main critiques of TDU2, particularly over the original is that once the main story is done, there is no good way to earn money, and the total earnings from the story is no where near enough to buy all the cars/houses you want. It really needed some repeatable post-game challenges with decent monetary rewards.
The best way I can describe TDU2 is basically GTA race edition The silly little extras make the game and the map is one of the best ever made despite lacking texture quality Oh and you can fix every issue with mods even 12 years on
/writing this in early '23 Growing up with racing games, the TDU series always felt special to me, back then and also today. Although I really really like TDU 2 with it's scale, attention to detail and immersion in a luxurious world, TDU 1 still rules supreme over its' sequel, at least for me. Not only because it was the first racing game to take such big steps in the open world direction, but it also introduced many other features, let me line up some for you: Massive Online Open-World Racing ("M.O.O.R."), buying houses, real dealerships for cars AND bikes, a 1:1 scale map of Hawaii's largest island, character customization, a large variety of cars in different classes, the option to pick up hitchhikers along the way and take them to their destination, delivering cars and other stuff. The level of detail was so deep that when you wanted to buy a certain classic car, you even had to place a reserve on it when the dealership wouldn't have it in stock at the time you visited them. Oh and did I mention that you could play this game online with other players - back in 2006?! These are all features that stand strong to this day. Many games tried to copy them, although most outcomes have been half-baked. Look at Forza Horizon or The Crew. Keeping in mind that especially Forza took the torch from TDU, I think it was a good decision by everyone involved to not make another TDU game until now. Although it's not as known as the NfS series, those two games built a very high reputation for the relatively short-lived Test Drive franchise and it's always easy to crush that, but not as easy to build it up again - I'm looking at you, NfS... Despite all of that, I hope that Test Drive: Solar Crown won't die before its' release. I think especially today with the slow but steady downfall of Forza games, the world of racing games needs a new TDU with updated graphics and physics, something that outshines every other free roam racing game of today when it comes to pure quality and immersion. Let's all hope we'll get what we crave for so long.
Solar Crown better have aftermarket customization complete with parts from big name manufacturers like Mansory, ABT, Gemballa, etc. Why, you ask? Cause building shitty specs out of exotic cars is part of the billionaire socialite car guy experience.
Casual gaming I can't put into words how good this video was. Really appreciate the IMMENSE work and effort. It's an Insta subscription from me. I got myself a TDU digital copy 2 months ago but I'm saving it for the holidays and to play more before TDU SC comes out. This video opened my eyes even more and some details about the game I wasn't aware about since I never actually got to play TDU 2. It really is a gem and was way ahead of its time. May TDU SC be the same and even better by staying true to the roots but make everything better and more modern for today's standards. Have a great day!
This game was one of the hallmarks of my childhood gaming experience. I remember back in the earlier days playing multiplayer with random people I met racing. was just such a fun game. I miss it
I think the same way about old games like this one ,there is something challenging in those game that new games dont have , I still play tdu2 in 2024 , I rebought xbox 360 just to replay those old games , my xbox X and One are just taking dust now till tdu Sc comes out 😅
Watching in 2023....still no new TDU, but this bought back some memories. TDU1 was home for me back in 05, 06. Alot of the OG features have been lost or duplicated over time in other titles, as you mentioned but if they bought TDU2 back, remastered, id totally buy it. Thanks for making this, this was awesome.
Casual gaming, you asked for it. This was a brilliant comprehensive look at TDU2. One extra thing when talking about the gameplay and racing style, you can't just go flying over smooth grass fields like a Forza game. Im not saying there's anything wrong with that, Forza has its place, but in TDU the fences are solid, the traffic lights are solid and there are signs that slow you down if you hit them. While Forza rewards you for smashing through a fences and such, this is not how you play TDU as there are consequences. The way the map is designed is not for going full speed everywhere like a Forza game, you need the highway for that etc. To me at least, the game feels rewarding even driving slower classes of cars around the really tight narrow hilly roads found in the map, you just dont get any roads in a horizon game similar as they are all wide and smooth. Great video to inform people who never played TDU2 :D
you bastard, I download the game a few months ago and couldn't start and I gave up on it but I've tried once again after that video and it works :D Thanks man and I affirm it works on steam.
Casual gamers. TDU 1 was the game that blew my mind like TDU 2 has done for you. It was 4/5 years after it’s initial release before I got a PC good enough to play TDU1. I mis say that 2s story really annoyed me amd put me off a bit (these rich characters were a bit too exagerated for me), but the reason I never got to Oahu was because of things happening in my life, not because I didn’t want to. I played this game first on PS3, because my PC could not run it. These games always seemed to be 5 steps ahead of thr hardware I had growing up :) Glad to see people prasing TDU, they were such a big deal
Car washes were cool af, made me crack up the first time I saw it. You’re acting like there’s no such thing as women who sell their looks for money. If anything that’s more common today than it was 10 years ago. Other than that great vid
I remember being a kid playing this on my PS3. I had flashbacks when you were in the Ferrari dealership. I saved up to buy a F430 Scud, and you are so right about the experience. Spending that hard earned money really felt special.
Before I start commenting, I’d like to advise everyone that Used Car Dealer vehicles can easily turn a profit when resold back to Wade, *as long as they have upgrades when bought.* It’s more efficient in Hawaii. Depending on the car, and upgrades, profits vary. That expensive Merc can go as cheap as $405k, but at Level 2 upgrades, it will, if I remember correctly, sell back to Wade for $480k or $490k. No good cars? Take a chance on the price of the C3 car, or switch to the other island, and back. 2:59 As far down as a 10% discount. 8:53 Small note: Some cars don’t allow painting, and/or stickers, though. 15:25 You’ve had this game for years! The Veyron SS is no longer obtainable, along with the rest of the DLC. 24:10 Hawaii was the go-to. It was the map used in TDU1. It was already known what was wanted. 30:49 Budgets eventually become noticeable, as well as it was hidden. Forza has Microsoft. TDU2 had an Atari past its prime. 37:52 It’s *very* satisfying to wipe the floor with Stuart, in standard A3. Seeing his facade break? Love it. 44:52 Look, if a guy with a big hand in TDU2, is leading, there’s hope. Having it set in the land of communists, is poor taste, however. 1:00:06 Oh, no need to reply to this, unless you want to, man! This has taken enough of your time. 😋
Your the first person i heard complaining bout the car washes lmao i only heard positive things about it. Made the game unique and funny. One thing i wish for the new game, or any racing game that I didn't see anywhere yet is to have fully rotating steering wheels. I hate the range of motion of the steering wheel in Tdu, they made everything so realistic, but stopped at the steering wheel, kills the perfect cockpit view for me 😩
I’m not necessarily complaining I just feel it’s kinda pointless. I want to wash my car not see horrifically textured 2011 bikini girls😂 which if I’m honest it is funny now. But yeah man I see what you mean
Test Drive Unlimited truly is an experience like no other racing game. It makes you feel like every second of everything you do in the game enhances said experience. You also get a real feel for ownership and completion. You have to get a Class license to enter championships and once you finish a championship, you have the money to buy the house of your dreams as well as the cars of your dreams to showcase in your home. Aficionado life at its finest. There wasn't a single car in the game that I purchased and was disappointed by, not a single one. Every car somehow felt unique, sounded unique, had their own stylized speedometer gauge, intricately detailed interiors. Don't even get me started on the map and it's exploration. Easily the best part of the game is the extremely large maps. The atmosphere, the 2000's style EDM radio, the dealerships, the houses, everything felt authentic.
Thank you for the awesome content! I'm pretty sure this video will go viral in the next few weeks. Its so well made🙏🏼 & now I want to play this game so bad
Casual gaming, your review is fantastic and I've subbed to your channel. Would enjoy seeing a similar review for TDU1 or even better, the TDU Platinum mod, which imo is even better than TDU2. I grew up on both TDU games and love them both to bits.
Bro, I just want to thank you alot alot. For introducing me to TDU. Never played it, am an old school Granturismo and Forza Horizon guy but this game combines elements in both I love, the licenses the open world challenges, story and difficulty that I picture driving one crazy. Love it🙏🏽🙏🏽 Casual Gaming!
To me the games actually always felt like a huge sandbox... you were just thrown into this giant world with endless possibilities you could get lost in. You could just explore the whole world with your starter car if you wanted and I actually didn't focus on the story but on cruising with friends and randoms and exploring instead. There were also various ways of getting money and buy better cars. Online races is also an option for example. What I also loved about the map is that by having to do all that exploration to actually find car dealers and clothing stores etc. and also having your houses spread all over the map you always had a destination you could drive to when cruising around. The map didn't feel dead due to those features. In the end I also finished the story as well and it was very challenging which I liked... But the game always felt more like a simulation of a car enthusiasts dream rather than a racing game and that was awesome... I started playing in 2011 and I wish I could go back to that evening when I first fired it up... TDU world is still in development btw. but it actually works. They're now working on getting more and more online features working and they're also trying to make installing the mod easier! I suggest joining the TDU world Discord if you're interested! They also have developed a fix for the crashes when you're on the map and are using newer Nvidia cards.
I'm also closely following the development of the TDU world mod for TDU2 that once again enables playing online in case somebody hasn't known it existed so far...
To me this is the best open world racing game, you got the cars and many unique stuffs that nowadays still lacks, it's a shame this kind of games are very rare
my favorite thing about this game is that you don't just drive cars, you own them, you can walk around them in the garage or you can just hang out in the house
I spent countless hours on this game. I wish it could’ve gotten a remaster but its all good. Let’s also mention how different cars have their real life gauges for the HUD. What an awesome little touch to have!!
It’s crazy bcuz everything in tdu 2 was basically introduced in tdu 1 but it’s forgotten for some reason even tho I think it’s the better one, pretty much everything great about tdu 2 was introduced in tdu 1 which was released in 2006 which is kind of crazy, and the pointless customization for house and character was bcuz the developers heavily focused on multiplayer which makes sense u wanna be different and show off Edit: casual gaming 😭 great video man will be subscribing after this banger
I remember going into the Europeans dealerships when I was starting in the game. Having 100k in my account and seeing 1M+ cars. I was humbled real quick.
Dude I totally appreciate u for making a vid about this game I had such curiousty about this game I only found out about this game like last year and since ever I was sooo excited to play this and I will definitely do so as soon as possible thx for the effort that went into the making of this vid it truly showed up throughout the vid and the high quality man am sooo happy with this vid
Dude i just watched this vid again without even realizing that i did watch it before man thats how goood it is and well put together thx for ur amazing effort, i cant believe i watched this again i saw my comment and i was madd surprised lol 😂😂😂😂@ultraviolet_channel
My favourite cars to drive in games are classic cars from the 1940's and 50's and the later muscle cars. Cars we never quite got in the U.K. we had similar, and I like those too though.
I remember this game captured me right from the get go. Got a gold medal on everything (except the final time trial of the campaign with those jumps that messed up the physics) and although it was challenging, resting to my private yaught ingame was very rewarding afterwards
Test Drive: Solar Crown. Watching this in January 2023 genuinely makes me afraid because I can’t find developer updates on the game. I just hope and pray Solar Crown wasn’t cancelled.
i dont this TDUSC Will be the same as TDU2.. Man i wish we had more games like this. it feels so immersive walking in the dealership, and testing the car. Amazing game 10/10 i wanna play it again but my xbox360 doesnt work that well. and guess what game disk is stuck inside the console? TDU2. :(
Well crap! That was a long form essay. I'm annoyed I missed this game. Especially since I loved the first TDU. That and NFS Most Wanted were my Jams at that time.
Honestly, I didn't know that this game had so much to offer. I've only played the first TDU game on PS2. That game already felt amazing but your video gave me the intention to try playing the game. And about the car washes...I guess the only thing what can be said is: Each to their own. It's a relic of its time but as someone who's still wishing the 2000s back, I don't really care about it but I agree it wasn't necessary at all.
What an incredible video! I've recently started the game over after I only played through half of it a few years ago. It's a great game and your video made me even more excited to finally finish TDU2👏👏👏
This game was amazing. I got a copy for my Xbox 360 from my local library as a kid, and was never able to finish the game, but I remember having a Lotus Evora in-game. I can't wait for TDU3.
I love that you can drive the Spyker D8/D12 Peking to Paris in this game, such a cool vehicle. It was a expensive purchase but it was so god damn worth it. The only thing I kinda don't like is that AWD cars in the rain are really OP. If the LFA was in the game I would go buy it right now. I never tried the car wash :D Glad I never did xD
I love so many games from the past as well. Like you said so perfectly, these flatter learning curves in some modern games suck the drama, intensity, and satisfaction out of the gameplay.
I absolutely LOVE Test drive unlimited and honestly the best racing game. Hopefully won't have to wait for solar crown and it has alot of gameplay from the older tdu games
Even though the physics where a bit janky, this is by far, one of the best racing games of all time. Great vid man!
Thanks dude!

can we just appreciate horizon 1 and this game dropping a fat $10,000,000 on you after beating them? it's so damn satisfying to buy all those cars on your wishlist, because you beat the game, you earned the right to have this money because you played, I remember as a kid, having to choose between the CCXR or Veyron for the final championship, and I was so split on which to buy, cause I didn't think I'd get the money to buy both, but after I won that final championship with the CCXR, I straight away took a fast pass to the dealer and bought that Veyron, then did that championship all over again.
Awesome story dude! This game has a big spot in many people’s lives
Legit horizon 2 is 50 bucks and this is $20
@UCGsVrvArFscvu62j1-zrVVw uuuuh, better than TDU2 or FH2 Xbox one edition?
@@flti I don’t think price = game quality, some of my all time favourite games I bought were just 10 bucks
Can’t believe tdu2 is 10 years old it’s so nostalgic but it was a fun game to play even if the physics were quite strange
Now its 12 years old and exactly 1 full year after Nijigasaki Anime Season 2.
God i hated fuel it was terrible. You would join a multiplayer race and everyone would be facing different directions lol.
@@ericharbour9254 That's just multi-player though, the game itself was great.
The Crew 2 has a big map...
@@thesuperiorgolem5357 only takes like 30 minutes to cross the whole map tho.
@@ericharbour9254agree. Fuel had 7888 square miles.
You know the game is a masterpiece when Moses drops a 1 hour video.
Agree. Ayumu Uehara and her closest friends, Shioriko Mifune and Yuu Takasaki both have TDU2 on their backlogs.
This game should be remastered with modern tech and new cars.
Its still a big blast game to play.
See that was a glitch that i was trying to find lol
@@XxrazorxX21
You can still do it if you got the older 360 (the one that doesn’t have a built-in wifi) and do the glitch by not updating the game.
Nice name

I remember that. Owned every house because of that.
Definitely man, especially for a 2011 game
This is what u get when developers care about their games and out there heart and soul in it.
I have not played such a game (made with heart and soul) in a very long time, too long of a time!
I Hope they make a TDU3 with the same the love they had with tdu2
There is a Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown game in development, so far confirmed to have a one-to-one scale of Hong Kong Island + surroundings
This game is a true masterpiece. I used to play this game on my cousin's house as a nine year old kid. It felt like entering a completely new world. No other racing game ever compared to it.
you are putting out for sure the best racing game content out right now
My dude thanks. Means the world to me
I will never forget how I discovered this game when I was a kid. Unfortunatelly I have never fully experienced online in this game, however TDU World is growing, and more features should come out eventually. TDU2 is special game, it's 10 years old, and there is still no other game that could match with it. I feel bad for people who doesn't want to play it because it's old, they don't know what they are missing
wanted a vid like this forever. this was a huge chunk of my life. i was zomied out while playing this game to the point that i get no excitement from car games today(gtao coming close). many games look good and play good but they lack a deep soul, that voice calling you to join its world like a perfect acid trip.
new car games don’t value cars
@@coupe2563 I hope tdusc can deliver us from evil lol
Grow, up.
You got death threats for that? Damn. I thought this game is old enough not to have a fan base full of children but I was wrong.
@@issammelzi728 some fan bases can’t accept any criticism, it’s unfortunate
The car washes are stupid. Legitimately no reason to have women dancing around your vehicle. So outdated and honestly cringe. But hey, the car looks great after!
@@lomamedia676 exactly my point!
@@UltraViolet_Moses to be fair I don't like the car washes either. Gran Turismo 5 car washes are THE gold standard! Not to mention the oil changes and paint spraying.
How am I only finding this review now? Such a comprehensive and straightforward review, with awesome content :)
3 years late, I know. But I reckon the car washing would've been satisfying if we could wash the cars ourselves...
Like washing our dogs on Nintendogs. Now that was satisfying!
top tier comment
This (and its predecessor, but mostly this) got me through COVID. For that, I'm eternally grateful.
Says something about the game's quality that it had massive random lag spikes and yet I persevered to the finale. They really don't make them like they used to.
TDU 2, Dirt 2 and 3, F1 2010 - 2013, I just feel like these were the best racing games ever made. When I play some of the above mentioned games, I instantley feel like a 12year-old again on a cold winter morning at my parent's house. thanks for the nostalgia trip, I am booting up my PS3 again to play this Gem :)
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!
the thing i liked about TDU2 was that fact you had so much freedom driving and enjoying the roads. not many games do that now.
I'm happy to see that Test Drive Unlimited 2 is getting the recognition it deserves, i loved this game when i played it in the Xbox 360, my biggest achievement was to have my R8 in my Villa
and the fact that there is the miles ur car got is just amazing in my opinion
Thanks Moses for a long record review of the game! Really good overview. I spent this hour in good spirits and a lot of nostalgia for the TDU franchise. I really like both TDU games and have 2 copies of PC licensed DVDs. TDU2 lacks physics, but better graphics. Ibiza looks great and Hawaii 2.0 with off-road tracks and a new palette looks really different and more modern, but the sunset in TDU 1 seems to me much better.
this game had some fantastic features you don't find in most car games
I mean, it's 2024 now, if we even get the chance to wash the cars, I bet 5 whole cents we aren't getting anything close to those random ass scenes
'Preciate you, Moseph. I still play TDU 2 sometimes. I loved those CRC challenges.
It really reminds me in some area's of GTA5 without weapons.
The best way I can describe TDU2 is basically GTA race edition
The silly little extras make the game and the map is one of the best ever made despite lacking texture quality
Oh and you can fix every issue with mods even 12 years on
/writing this in early '23
Growing up with racing games, the TDU series always felt special to me, back then and also today.
Instead for TDU solar Crown, just add wifus to clean the cars. That is quite accepted today.
Smart thinking! 😁👍
Solar Crown better have aftermarket customization complete with parts from big name manufacturers like Mansory, ABT, Gemballa, etc. Why, you ask? Cause building shitty specs out of exotic cars is part of the billionaire socialite car guy experience.

I can't put into words how good this video was.
Thank you so much man!
Makes me reminisce my time on this game... I cherish those memories. Thank you for sharing yours
Glad you enjoyed it
This game was one of the hallmarks of my childhood gaming experience.
Great video to inform people who never played TDU2 :D
you channel is underrated af

TDU 1 was the game that blew my mind like TDU 2 has done for you. It was 4/5 years after it’s initial release before I got a PC good enough to play TDU1.
I mis say that 2s story really annoyed me amd put me off a bit (these rich characters were a bit too exagerated for me), but the reason I never got to Oahu was because of things happening in my life, not because I didn’t want to. I played this game first on PS3, because my PC could not run it. These games always seemed to be 5 steps ahead of thr hardware I had growing up :)
Glad to see people prasing TDU, they were such a big deal

Oh great! I’ll check out the discord and see if I can get my issues fixed

Love the effort you put into this, really makes me want to purchase it for PC but the asking price is SUPER high now for a steam key.
The unofficial patch is a must install if you use the PC version. Project Paradise too if you wanna play multiplayer.
One of the best open world racing/driving games I've played (yes, I managed to tame the broken physics)

I'm also closely following the development of the TDU world mod for TDU2 that once again enables playing online in case somebody hasn't known it existed so far...

It’s crazy bcuz everything in tdu 2 was basically introduced in tdu 1 but it’s forgotten for some reason even tho I think it’s the better one, pretty much everything great about tdu 2 was introduced in tdu 1 which was released in 2006 which is kind of crazy, and the pointless customization for house and character was bcuz the developers heavily focused on multiplayer which makes sense u wanna be different and show off

The driving physics in TDU2 were so weird compared to TDU1 that I never played it for more than an hour. In total.
TDU1 and TDU 2 is just so much better than all Forza's.
The c12 zagato in purple with a pink hint like the Vikings helmets. That’s the best car in any game
What an incredible video! I've recently started the game over after I only played through half of it a few years ago. It's a great game and your video made me even more excited to finally finish TDU2👏👏👏

The crew 2 really is a spiritual successor to test drive unlimited. A really good one too.

Glad I never did xD
You can get it in mods I believe
Had to watch this video after hearing Mack on “worth a buy” praise this as the best racing game EVER MADE EVA EVER
I love so many games from the past as well. Like you said so perfectly, these flatter learning curves in some modern games suck the drama, intensity, and satisfaction out of the gameplay.
"Casual gaming" BTW, u're making really good videos, I love the old car games like this and Horizon 1 and 2, keep up ! 😁✌
This video alone made me buy the game again.
I absolutely LOVE Test drive unlimited and honestly the best racing game. Hopefully won't have to wait for solar crown and it has alot of gameplay from the older tdu games
tbh that car shown probably actually sounds like that irl
