Imagine seeing a lot of rats in a modern setting like the New York City subway! Oh wait lol. But in all seriousness, I think a modern setting could actually work very well. Perhaps more ambitiously, it could be something like Assassins Creed where there are parallel storylines taking place in both modern and ancient times with the story alternating between the two settings. The story could take place primarily in modern times but with the occasional flashback to a grown up Amecia finding future carriers and leaving behind clues or hints for people in the future to find. Maybe what she left behind is the key in the future to developing a permanent cure.
The feeling I got from the post-credits scene is that the next game will be in modern times, more specifically (mainly by how the ventilator sounds) around '40-'50s of the 20th century... and as the background (read 'The plague' by Albert Camus... you'll see exactly what I mean right in the first chapter, the rats ofc..) - Algeria - North Africa, 1940-1950... if they are going to take Albert Camus's 'the plague' as the setting... it can be great! Amicia said it herself in the last chapter - she wants to set the path for the next Carrier and protector, the way Aelia did for them... (Aelia lived in the 6th century, Amicia in the 14th century, so it will make sense the next game will take place in the 20th century) so part of the next game will be the follow the path Amicia left for you and along the way you will learn what happened to Amicia next after the ending of Requiem - therefor 'the De Rune legacy'. this is my theory at least..
This is what I hope for cut scenes you play that explain what happens to all of them and where she goes. She talks a lot about leaving something behind and I would assume it would be deeper than what she had to work with.
@@Aewon84 I thought about it and it could be epic, though I think the holocaust itself would still be a bit too sensitive setting to mess around with... but since I think it would be set in north Africa it would be cool maybe to have a section of the German invasion to north Africa and the battle of General Rommel against the British desert rats.. I am hoping they have it more modern but have something she has left behind for the next protector and have it flip back to them in cutscenes you play. Like a diary or something.
According to Wikipedia, there has been 3 plague pandemics. The first is the Justinian plague in the 6th century (caused by Basilius per the game's lore), the second is the Black Death of the 14th century (caused by Hugo), and the third plague pandemic lasting from the mid 19th to the mid 20th century. So the next game could potentially be set in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Much more recently in history, but still not very modern. Thematically, I don't see the next game to be the "third game" per se. It will be more like a spinoff. Innocence and Requiem told the story of Amicia and Hugo. That story has concluded. If the next game is really about the next plague, it would be a new story with fresh characters and a new carrier-protector duo.
Who knows if Asobo will make another game. In an interview the CEO stated that while story of Requiem was already made they where not planning on making it since they where really uncertain if Innocence would be a success. Now that Requiem is an even greater success then Innocence I hope Asobo will consider it a trilogy.
Right after Innocence came out, the devs said they weren't making a sequel, even though then they were in production of Requiem. Devs lie sometimes about games they are/aren't making. Imagine if they were ALWAYS honest about that stuff. There wouldn't be any hype for potential games.

It's already difficult enough to believe that Amicia wouldn't choose to carry a lantern or some other light source with her everywhere she goes. If you set a plague tale game in anything close to modern times, staying near a light source would be trivial.

I personally really want to know what became of amicia after requiem. Did she continue her adventures like she hinted in the final chapter? Did she eventually settle down somewhere? Did she have children? Did she make it too old age? she was around 15 in 1350. So she would have been around 65 in 1400. If she made it that far.

In another video, someone brought up the idea that it could take place in some part in Asia. A plague also occurred there, so that would be interesting to see. I don’t recall much about the story, but one part in the game I can remember is when Amicia and Lucas found an abandoned cargo, full of silk. Lucas claims it must have come from China and questions whether whats happening with the rats is also happening there too. Amicia responds and says, “Maybe not… Not yet” Traditional trade was also responsible for the plague spreading, so there’s that. Whatever it is, I can’t wait for the third game.
My theory is that aelia and basilius are actually amicia and hugo in their past life. Maybe their fate is to be reborn over and over again to face the same fate together, like zelda and link who always have to face ganondorf sooner or later. Aelia died, but amicia is alive this time. So maybe she finds somerhing in the past who can help their next reincarnation? Who knows? But sophia said herself that she sees more and more of aelia in amicia and it would make actuall sense.
Since Innocence and Requiem solidified the time periods of the Justinian Plague of AD 541 and the Black Death of AD 1347 (Innocence taking place in 1348 and Requiem in 1349), I think it follows suit that the next major plague Ibn history would be a great setting for the next game, that being The Italian Plague of 1629-31 or The Great Plague of London from 1665-66. Either way, as much as I have grown to love Amicia as a character, I feel that her story is done and the 3rd game can give some clear nods or even historical documents about her that effects the protagonist in some way. Just my thoughts.
As much as it would be cool to see this set in the modern day, I feel like it would be so much fun to see Amicia seek out the next Carrier and Protector, trying to guide them towards a different ending. I feel that going so far towards the future in an Assassin's Creed like way leaves Amicia's story unfinished. Her role as a Protector may now be done, but she still plans to be involved with the cycle, and I think that is something really worth exploring. And as someone has commented the potential for a future game to be told in a similar way to that of Aelia's, again it is fascinating but I feel as long as Amicia chooses to be in the cycle, that story would be good enough for a player to experience firsthand rather than having it told in the background.
@@bearitonestudios a modern setting would be bad as it would take away from the identity of the games we have guns planes big city's it doesn't work as rats are still around and suddenly start eating people, I think they ruined potential future works of this with the ending not having Hugo grow older and play as him as the next lead is a wasted opportunity there all for a shock value death ending.
I kinda like the idea of it being more choice based, like switching between Amicia laying the trail for the next generation, perhaps even helping one if somehow another was born since then, and then to more modern times with the latest generation trying to pick up her trail, and perhaps the trail of other protectors. Depending on how amicia acts, changes the future character's surroundings. I enjoy more choice based games, and personally it feels like we are riding on Amicia's shoulder and watching her story unfold, which is perfectly fine, but it's always more interesting to me when it's your choices and your decision.
I really don't know if I want a prequel more or a sequel! Either would be awesome. Although the modern setting would be quite something and could go in all sorts of direction. I don't want this franchise to be over, too good. :)
Maybe the next game will have a dual narrative. The Macula is threatening to break out in a future extinction-level event, and the actions of the player in the past can either prevent or cause it.
I feel like the game doesn't need a 3rd installment, the story imo wrapped up perfectly and even tho it was sad, it was damn good, if they do end up doing another, maybe it can be with a different group of characters im not too sure, but if we stopped here and only got requiem as the ending, I wouldn't be upset and just as satisfied.
If they do, then i am 100% sure it is different group of characters. If it ends up being in modern times, then we might look for some clues that Amicia set after the mid credits scene. But imo the game is complete. I think that the macula and carrier awakens in every ~800ish years. The phoenix represents reincarnation of carrier, macula and the protector. And order symbol maybe also represents it. The 3 circles connected. I haven't read lore in depth, and it is only from the gameplay, there may be info out there about different stuff. Modern day game could be COVID on steroids. Edit: Read another comment, 1940s and 1950s could actually be more likely setting. Searching for clues from 14th century in World War II France.
How about DLC? For characters such as Arthur and Mélee who could require some expansion, perhaps sir Nicholas and perhaps even Arnaud and tell the story from their perspective. That would be great

Everything about that says it will be in the 20th century. Amicia is a grave. The new macula carrier and protector will have to hunt down the clues thar Amicia may have left.
A modern day plague tale 3 wouldn't be great, the medieval artstyle is one of the strongest points of the game. I think it would be great if they added more gameplay to the 3rd game and explained the origin of the Macula and all the rats. A 4th game in the modern world might be really good. But then I'd expect even better gameplay.

It would be like assassins creed black flag.. where flashbacks of old days aka Hugo and his protector whilst people in modern times discover Hugo and his protectors origins to discover more about their history and the plague just like in black flag. It could make their deaths meaningful and they will always be remembered for possibly saving humanity as 20th century humans use their technology and stumble upon the old ruins Hugo and amica once roamed and left clues behind
While true that it would be cool to see a third game after Hugo’s death to explore that seeing as the the last carrier and protected lived during the sixth century it seems more likely that the macula would sit doormat in the carriers bloodline until more modern times

Just finished the game on Xbox game pass. As soon as the post credit scene popped up, I started thinking that the next game might take place in a modern time, the Spanish flue immediately came to my mind cause Idk how I forgot about Covid19 lol. I think, I do want it to be in 2020 cause 2020 gave us so much potential for movies and games. I won't mind if there's no rat. The storyline can keep going like Assassin's Creed. For the next game, it can be like: Covid19 or any other plague happening because of a kid and then some people knowing the truth come after him and his protector and then have to travel around and find clues to heal and end macula. They are gonna have to traverse through modern places with crysis and wars. Also the game can still put the rats in caves and other interiors where the player will have to go to find clues. Wherever they go, they'll the plague will come with them. I think, I can trust the dev so I really want them to pick a modern time, preferably, 2020. I don't think, the changes in gameplay and other aspects would make it any weaker if they can successfully do whatever they wanna do. the current gameplay mechanics are also pretty simplistic anyway. Also it'll let the series go beyond and they can still keep some old stuffs here and there, like rats in caves. It can be like Metro Exodus where they try something new but also keep old mechanics and environments in some places where old fans can feel right at home.
Plague Tale 3 takes place in 2020 but half the people believe that Amicia & Hugo were The Order/Illuminati/Deep State and that the next carrier child is a crisis actor. Instead of rats, stupidity spreads the plague.
I feel like the cutscene was to also show that no matter what people do, the macula can't be stopped forever Also, another theory I have is that since hugo didn't fully give into the final threshold like the previous, the macula woke up in someone else since it was so close. So we'll find them in the third game to stop it from finishing the job
Although I think that the first scenario is the one that makes the most sense I do believe, given that the post credit scene suggested a modern scenario, that the De Rune legacy will expand to modern times. I am hoping it does not. I was obsessed (and literally hooked) with the medieval vibe of the first two installments. I completed these games several times each, just to enjoy the worlds and to find as many hidden items as possible. I spend long hours just looking around and enjoying the gameplay. Either which way, I will be extremely happy to hear and to know that there will be more games coming. I love this franchise and I can't wait for more! Thanks for this video. It was very cool to explore these possibilities.
I personally think the baby's arm scene is just a clever reference to Covid, considering Innocence came out just a year before the world was locked down. The irony was not lost on me that I spent lockdown playing a game based on the most well known pandemic in human history. Apparently the creators have confirmed that they don't intend to continue the series so I think a reference is all it is.
Honestly I'd love to see a assassin's creepy approach seeing the next protector rediscovering that of the priors anything but a complete modern day just not the vibe like playing plague inc

It will be better to have it just after the plague tale requiem times like 14th century. Because if they do it in modern times, it would have vibes like the Plague Tale Requiem had. Those vibes are just so cool. This game won't fit perfect with technology and all that. It's better to have it with all that Alchemy and all.
I think the main action will be in modern days, but we will play also Amicia trying to give the next generations hints and informations about everything she knows. So there will be modern days and medival France. But for me, I would like to play only Amicia.
Well ventilation was invented in the 1800's... in the game they could always just make the original ventilation invented more modern. Though I feel like it being set so long after the first two games would kinda suck. I'd like to see amicia find the new carrier and protector and help them.

I just don't know how they're gonna pull it off in a more modern setting. I feel like it's more likely they'd set it before the 1970s, like maybe around 20s-60s. A modern Plague Tale game would just feel weird to me personally, I just don't think that setting would suit the overall vibe of the game.
If they do it right, you can pull off a current day Plague Tale. As a writer, I’d probably set it in the near future to is like 2023/2024 and mention it’s got nothing on Covid-19 considering the Black Plague killed about 1 in 3 people. Have the de Rune family being pushed out of France and waves of rats going through NY City. It can definitely be done, it will just be tricky.

I think Hugo didn’t die , because we didn’t see his body and I think that somebody saw him and revived him , maybe Lucas saved him that’s why his studying to end the plague because he knew that it will awaken again in Hugo’s body
That’s why in the end of the video you will see that there is a child with ventilator , I think it’s Hugo .. and when they amicia hit him .. I think she hit the macula .. so the macula maybe slept in Hugo’s body but not dead .. anyways we will see the next story in plague tale3

Innocence was good. Requiem was wonderful. As much as I loved those characters and grieved for Hugo, I don't think they need another game. If they choose to make one more, I hope they don't disappoint 😶
If you follow the time between Bassilia and Hugo, I would guess that the next game would be set around WW1 and the Spanish flu that broke out in 1918, since there still is no definitive answer to why that outbreak occured. Experts still argue what the actual cause was, so it gives more leadway to the writers than covid would. Just my opinion. I would rather the next game stick with Amecia, but then the time period between outbreaks loses it's meaning
This is silly, the plague is in reference to a bacterial infection that comes from rodents. Changing this completely makes the title of the game and the point of the whole theme mute. The last plague outbreak was in the 1920, and respirators were actually invented around that time. So it makes sense if the game would take place around 1924 or so. Some research would have made this video more interesting instead of instantly jumping to zombies or Covid.
It's actually not silly at all. Plagues can deal with way more than just the bacteria carried by fleas from rats (like The Bubonic Plague in the games). Reading deeper into the title "A Plague Tale", the word plague could also mean a wide-spread disease or occurrence. Think of this like the 10 Plagues from the Bible, such as the Plague of Locusts or the Plague of Boils. Maybe the game's title is a 2-sided meaning, also focusing on the hordes of rats PLAGUING Europe and eating people (which did not actually happen in real life). There's also Septicemic and Pneumonic plagues that affect other parts of the body, such as the bloodstream or lungs. It's not that far fetched on a epidemiological level to imagine a bacteria or a virus evolving, then entering a person through the lungs/bloodstream and putting them in a "zombie" like state (even though this is more characteristic of a virus rather than bacteria). Do I ACTUALLY believe the third game will deal with Walking Dead-like zombies or Covid? Not at all. That's why it was brought up in the last minute of the video. Not exactly "instantly jumped to" was it? This video was about a gamer's opinion of a future title's potential plot, not the scientific exploration and analysis of a disease in a fictional universe by a working epidemiologist. I'll leave that video for you to make. But if you TRULY think bringing up a modern epidemic like Covid (that happened during the development of Requiem) or half mentioning zombies as a joke (which exist in real life in the animal kingdom) is detrimental to the "realism" of the fictional game Plague Tale, just remember... ...the premise of these games is a child with super powers controlling giant hordes of man-eating rats with his mind :)

My feedback to you as a content creator was that you missed an amazing opportunity here to create a great video, with depth, historical context, and possibly even guess what the next game will be. But instead you came off lazy by jumping to the easiest option and the inflammatory option: zombies and Covid. Now, you can take my feedback like an adult, internalize it and do something about it moving forward as a content creator, or you can continue arguing with a stranger online about the minutiae of what I was saying. The Spanish Flu outbreak was in 1918, not 1920, and it was a global pandemic, not limited to the US. 2024 is at least three years after it ended. Perhaps next time you feel like patronizing someone for their facts you should make sure all your facts are, well, facts.
Next game taking place in contemporary days. The new protector will find traces left by Amicia to help her - like books, or paintings. And it's likely in my opinoin that the next carrier and protector shall look like Hugo and Amicia... after all, the Count in Requiem commented that Amicia "looks like the painting", this means that Amicia looks similar to Aelia.
IDK the esence of the game was indeed being placed un the 14th century those wonderful landscapes, the accuracy in the design that's the game experience I feel like that would be completely ruined by bringing this story into the modern world, it lets you fantasize as if you actually were there is just amazing. The series attracted most of their fan base for these historical accuracies the magnificent art work the outstanding storyline the creators invested a lot of time to represent the Middle age just as it was all of that would become a waste if we get a modern 3rd game. This could be venting too but there's a lot of futuristic and modern games out there already A plague tale is unique, like lit by entering any gaming platform you'll only see space sci-fi games, I really don't see necessary for this game to become modern that would be completely disappointing
If they do make it in 2020 and amica is alive and shes not the main character the new main character they would probably go to a old amcia for guidance
As much as it pains me, I think Amicia´s story is finished (game-wise). I think the next game will be in current time and main hero will be tracking the path Amicia prepared for the next protector and carrier. We won´t know what will the path be but we will find out and it will ultimately be the fix, meaning end of Macula for good. De Rune legacy will be world free of Macula.
What I would love to see is a combination of both: Amicia in the 14th century and an ancestor of hers (Amelia?) and her brother in our times. You would play both characters and switching between both or even sometimes play both the same time. The connection would be established through the Macula as a recurring phenomenon and the explanation would be that the Macula is a 4th dimensional phenomenon connecting to our 3rd dimension's timeline every 700 years or and Amicia finds a way to use the Macula's 4th dimensional existence to connect to her ancestor in our universe 700 years later. During the game you visit places in France in both the 14th and 21st century and you see how they changed in 700 years when Amicia and her ancestor are at the same place to solve a puzzle together or Amelia picks up an item or information Amicia left there for her 700 years ago. Sometimes they maybe even are connected and both move the same way, because Amicia takes over her ancestor (or vice versa) and you need to find a way to move through a place simultaneously in both the 14th century and the 21st overcoming blockages. Possible influences for story telling / world building: movies "Frequency" (2000) & "Tomorrowland" (2015), game "Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams".
another game set back in amecia's time just feels like a waste of time with them showing the baby at the end. We already know that anything else she does is going to fail, so all suspense is gone
It's implied that she knew it was going to return someday. Both Aelia and Bassilius died, it resurfaced in Hugo, so it doesn't matter if a Carrier dies or lives, it continues anyway. All Amicia can do is make sure whoever the Carrier and Protector are in the future could have some semblance of an idea on what to do, better info than she and Hugo got in their time. It wasn't about stopping the Macula forever, but she could stop it from destroying the world then, and it's up to the future Carriers and Protectors to do their part.
i kinda just want the game to be set soon after hugo's death as amicea. it's the most enjoyable point of view for me that has the most potential. playing as the same main character through out a game is always a plus!!! and it's got to many loose ends to move hundreds of years in the future... having it move between modern and past is a bit to annoying as i just want to play as the character i started the story as. :)
I think it's best the writers leave A Plague Tale franchise with the open-ended ending without going into more of it. Seeing Hugo dying after so so much is quite enough for me. And seeing Amicia becoming the warrior she is now after going through every pain and suffering and even wrong decisions turned around (let's be honest, she was a stubborn girl) and getting in control with her emotions. I am pretty much satisfied ending it right there. Even though we cannot know what Amicia's next adventure could be, let's just assume that she fought a hundred more battles and guided several carriers and protectors throughout her life until she dies just like Aelia did, but hopefully she successfully passed on the guidance to every person she comes across. If a third game should happen, it is okay if the De Rune legacy was mentioned, but no longer canon with the third installment's possible plot. I am also feeling that the third game should be birds now, or viruses (without making it Resident Evil-y)
If the Macula resurfaces with a big of a gap as we've seen, she would be long dead by the time the next Carrier and Protector were born. The best she could do was leave something behind, a trail to follow, like the one she traveled, but with a more optimistic outcome, perhaps.
I hope it's not in the modern era, I hope its some time after requiem but I don't want amicia to be the main character anymore, more like a side character

It can go like this: you're playing a new character and discovering traces, hints left by amicia about guide to fight macula. You'll learn about previous two macula carriers.
Imo they should do it like this: The game takes place a yearafter requiem and Amicia is living a normal life and then Lucas returns and tells Amicia that Hugo is still alive and Amicia killing Hugo damaged the macula but Hugo is still alive with Ofcourse a different appearance and we have to save him

Imagine seeing a lot of rats in a modern setting like the New York City subway! Oh wait lol. But in all seriousness, I think a modern setting could actually work very well. Perhaps more ambitiously, it could be something like Assassins Creed where there are parallel storylines taking place in both modern and ancient times with the story alternating between the two settings. The story could take place primarily in modern times but with the occasional flashback to a grown up Amecia finding future carriers and leaving behind clues or hints for people in the future to find. Maybe what she left behind is the key in the future to developing a permanent cure.

The feeling I got from the post-credits scene is that the next game will be in modern times, more specifically (mainly by how the ventilator sounds) around '40-'50s of the 20th century... and as the background (read 'The plague' by Albert Camus... you'll see exactly what I mean right in the first chapter, the rats ofc..) - Algeria - North Africa, 1940-1950... if they are going to take Albert Camus's 'the plague' as the setting... it can be great! Amicia said it herself in the last chapter - she wants to set the path for the next Carrier and protector, the way Aelia did for them... (Aelia lived in the 6th century, Amicia in the 14th century, so it will make sense the next game will take place in the 20th century) so part of the next game will be the follow the path Amicia left for you and along the way you will learn what happened to Amicia next after the ending of Requiem - therefor 'the De Rune legacy'. this is my theory at least..
This is what I hope for cut scenes you play that explain what happens to all of them and where she goes. She talks a lot about leaving something behind and I would assume it would be deeper than what she had to work with.

According to Wikipedia, there has been 3 plague pandemics. The first is the Justinian plague in the 6th century (caused by Basilius per the game's lore), the second is the Black Death of the 14th century (caused by Hugo), and the third plague pandemic lasting from the mid 19th to the mid 20th century. So the next game could potentially be set in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Much more recently in history, but still not very modern.
Thematically, I don't see the next game to be the "third game" per se. It will be more like a spinoff. Innocence and Requiem told the story of Amicia and Hugo. That story has concluded. If the next game is really about the next plague, it would be a new story with fresh characters and a new carrier-protector duo.

Who knows if Asobo will make another game. In an interview the CEO stated that while story of Requiem was already made they where not planning on making it since they where really uncertain if Innocence would be a success. Now that Requiem is an even greater success then Innocence I hope Asobo will consider it a trilogy.
Right after Innocence came out, the devs said they weren't making a sequel, even though then they were in production of Requiem. Devs lie sometimes about games they are/aren't making. Imagine if they were ALWAYS honest about that stuff. There wouldn't be any hype for potential games.

It's already difficult enough to believe that Amicia wouldn't choose to carry a lantern or some other light source with her everywhere she goes. If you set a plague tale game in anything close to modern times, staying near a light source would be trivial.

I personally really want to know what became of amicia after requiem. Did she continue her adventures like she hinted in the final chapter? Did she eventually settle down somewhere? Did she have children? Did she make it too old age? she was around 15 in 1350. So she would have been around 65 in 1400. If she made it that far.

Luca said that the Macula is carried through old bloodlines. That presents the possibility the a descendant of Amicia could be the next Carrier.
In another video, someone brought up the idea that it could take place in some part in Asia. A plague also occurred there, so that would be interesting to see. I don’t recall much about the story, but one part in the game I can remember is when Amicia and Lucas found an abandoned cargo, full of silk. Lucas claims it must have come from China and questions whether whats happening with the rats is also happening there too. Amicia responds and says, “Maybe not… Not yet” Traditional trade was also responsible for the plague spreading, so there’s that. Whatever it is, I can’t wait for the third game.
My theory is that aelia and basilius are actually amicia and hugo in their past life. Maybe their fate is to be reborn over and over again to face the same fate together, like zelda and link who always have to face ganondorf sooner or later. Aelia died, but amicia is alive this time. So maybe she finds somerhing in the past who can help their next reincarnation? Who knows? But sophia said herself that she sees more and more of aelia in amicia and it would make actuall sense.
That's what I thought when I was watching the gameplay. They're just reliving their past lives, perhaps to fix what happened in the past

A Plague Tale : Origin
Since Innocence and Requiem solidified the time periods of the Justinian Plague of AD 541 and the Black Death of AD 1347 (Innocence taking place in 1348 and Requiem in 1349), I think it follows suit that the next major plague Ibn history would be a great setting for the next game, that being The Italian Plague of 1629-31 or The Great Plague of London from 1665-66. Either way, as much as I have grown to love Amicia as a character, I feel that her story is done and the 3rd game can give some clear nods or even historical documents about her that effects the protagonist in some way. Just my thoughts.

As much as it would be cool to see this set in the modern day, I feel like it would be so much fun to see Amicia seek out the next Carrier and Protector, trying to guide them towards a different ending. I feel that going so far towards the future in an Assassin's Creed like way leaves Amicia's story unfinished. Her role as a Protector may now be done, but she still plans to be involved with the cycle, and I think that is something really worth exploring.
And as someone has commented the potential for a future game to be told in a similar way to that of Aelia's, again it is fascinating but I feel as long as Amicia chooses to be in the cycle, that story would be good enough for a player to experience firsthand rather than having it told in the background.

I kinda like the idea of it being more choice based, like switching between Amicia laying the trail for the next generation, perhaps even helping one if somehow another was born since then, and then to more modern times with the latest generation trying to pick up her trail, and perhaps the trail of other protectors. Depending on how amicia acts, changes the future character's surroundings.
I enjoy more choice based games, and personally it feels like we are riding on Amicia's shoulder and watching her story unfold, which is perfectly fine, but it's always more interesting to me when it's your choices and your decision.
I really don't know if I want a prequel more or a sequel! Either would be awesome. Although the modern setting would be quite something and could go in all sorts of direction. I don't want this franchise to be over, too good. :)

But imo the game is complete. I think that the macula and carrier awakens in every ~800ish years. The phoenix represents reincarnation of carrier, macula and the protector. And order symbol maybe also represents it. The 3 circles connected. I haven't read lore in depth, and it is only from the gameplay, there may be info out there about different stuff.

A modern day plague tale 3 wouldn't be great, the medieval artstyle is one of the strongest points of the game. I think it would be great if they added more gameplay to the 3rd game and explained the origin of the Macula and all the rats. A 4th game in the modern world might be really good. But then I'd expect even better gameplay.

Just finished the game on Xbox game pass. As soon as the post credit scene popped up, I started thinking that the next game might take place in a modern time, the Spanish flue immediately came to my mind cause Idk how I forgot about Covid19 lol. I think, I do want it to be in 2020 cause 2020 gave us so much potential for movies and games. I won't mind if there's no rat. The storyline can keep going like Assassin's Creed.
For the next game, it can be like: Covid19 or any other plague happening because of a kid and then some people knowing the truth come after him and his protector and then have to travel around and find clues to heal and end macula. They are gonna have to traverse through modern places with crysis and wars. Also the game can still put the rats in caves and other interiors where the player will have to go to find clues. Wherever they go, they'll the plague will come with them.
I think, I can trust the dev so I really want them to pick a modern time, preferably, 2020. I don't think, the changes in gameplay and other aspects would make it any weaker if they can successfully do whatever they wanna do. the current gameplay mechanics are also pretty simplistic anyway. Also it'll let the series go beyond and they can still keep some old stuffs here and there, like rats in caves. It can be like Metro Exodus where they try something new but also keep old mechanics and environments in some places where old fans can feel right at home.

Although I think that the first scenario is the one that makes the most sense I do believe, given that the post credit scene suggested a modern scenario, that the De Rune legacy will expand to modern times. I am hoping it does not. I was obsessed (and literally hooked) with the medieval vibe of the first two installments. I completed these games several times each, just to enjoy the worlds and to find as many hidden items as possible. I spend long hours just looking around and enjoying the gameplay. Either which way, I will be extremely happy to hear and to know that there will be more games coming. I love this franchise and I can't wait for more! Thanks for this video. It was very cool to explore these possibilities.
I personally think the baby's arm scene is just a clever reference to Covid, considering Innocence came out just a year before the world was locked down. The irony was not lost on me that I spent lockdown playing a game based on the most well known pandemic in human history. Apparently the creators have confirmed that they don't intend to continue the series so I think a reference is all it is.

Well ventilation was invented in the 1800's... in the game they could always just make the original ventilation invented more modern. Though I feel like it being set so long after the first two games would kinda suck. I'd like to see amicia find the new carrier and protector and help them.

As a writer, I’d probably set it in the near future to is like 2023/2024 and mention it’s got nothing on Covid-19 considering the Black Plague killed about 1 in 3 people. I think Hugo didn’t die , because we didn’t see his body and I think that somebody saw him and revived him , maybe Lucas saved him that’s why his studying to end the plague because he knew that it will awaken again in Hugo’s body

If you follow the time between Bassilia and Hugo, I would guess that the next game would be set around WW1 and the Spanish flu that broke out in 1918, since there still is no definitive answer to why that outbreak occured. Experts still argue what the actual cause was, so it gives more leadway to the writers than covid would. Just my opinion. I would rather the next game stick with Amecia, but then the time period between outbreaks loses it's meaning

This is silly, the plague is in reference to a bacterial infection that comes from rodents. Changing this completely makes the title of the game and the point of the whole theme mute.
The last plague outbreak was in the 1920, and respirators were actually invented around that time. So it makes sense if the game would take place around 1924 or so.

It's actually not silly at all. Plagues can deal with way more than just the bacteria carried by fleas from rats (like The Bubonic Plague in the games). Reading deeper into the title "A Plague Tale", the word plague could also mean a wide-spread disease or occurrence. Think of this like the 10 Plagues from the Bible, such as the Plague of Locusts or the Plague of Boils. Maybe the game's title is a 2-sided meaning, also focusing on the hordes of rats PLAGUING Europe and eating people (which did not actually happen in real life).
There's also Septicemic and Pneumonic plagues that affect other parts of the body, such as the bloodstream or lungs. It's not that far fetched on a epidemiological level to imagine a bacteria or a virus evolving, then entering a person through the lungs/bloodstream and putting them in a "zombie" like state (even though this is more characteristic of a virus rather than bacteria). Do I ACTUALLY believe the third game will deal with Walking Dead-like zombies or Covid? Not at all. That's why it was brought up in the last minute of the video. Not exactly "instantly jumped to" was it?
This video was about a gamer's opinion of a future title's potential plot, not the scientific exploration and analysis of a disease in a fictional universe by a working epidemiologist. I'll leave that video for you to make.
But if you TRULY think bringing up a modern epidemic like Covid (that happened during the development of Requiem) or half mentioning zombies as a joke (which exist in real life in the animal kingdom) is detrimental to the "realism" of the fictional game Plague Tale, just remember...

It takes place during the 100 Year War which was an actual devastating war in history, they make mention of the first outbreak of the plague, the Justinian Plague which actually happened, and the game takes place during the the 14th century, around the time when the second great plague pandemic happened, so why would they ever all of a sudden jump to zombies?
And sure, despite your scientific and literary argument being correct about the word “plague”, that’s not what I was debating. When using the term “plague” in this historical context you are talking about the Bubonic Plague. I wasn’t debating the dictionary meaning of the word, I was pointing out the historical reference because it matters. There were 3 great Bubonic Plague pandemics during history, in the 500’s, in the 1300’s and near the end of the 1800’s. The game takes place in the second major outbreak. So technically we can even get a game that takes place in the 1890’s, with a Chinese protagonist.
Despite that, there were other smaller outbreaks, like the one in the US in the 1920’s, the largest one ever recorded, which is around the time when they invent the respirators, which coincidentally is what we hear at the end of the game, the hypothetically intubated baby. My feedback to you as a content creator was that you missed an amazing opportunity here to create a great video, with depth, historical context, and possibly even guess what the next game will be. But instead you came off lazy by jumping to the easiest option and the inflammatory option: zombies and Covid.
Now, you can take my feedback like an adult, internalize it and do something about it moving forward as a content creator, or you can continue arguing with a stranger online about the minutiae of what I was saying. I’m not gonna continue debating you. Good luck. I like your content actually.

The Spanish Flu outbreak was in 1918, not 1920, and it was a global pandemic, not limited to the US. 2024 is at least three years after it ended. Perhaps next time you feel like patronizing someone for their facts you should make sure all your facts are, well, facts.

Next game taking place in contemporary days. The new protector will find traces left by Amicia to help her - like books, or paintings. And it's likely in my opinoin that the next carrier and protector shall look like Hugo and Amicia... after all, the Count in Requiem commented that Amicia "looks like the painting", this means that Amicia looks similar to Aelia.

IDK the esence of the game was indeed being placed un the 14th century those wonderful landscapes, the accuracy in the design that's the game experience I feel like that would be completely ruined by bringing this story into the modern world, it lets you fantasize as if you actually were there is just amazing. The series attracted most of their fan base for these historical accuracies the magnificent art work the outstanding storyline the creators invested a lot of time to represent the Middle age just as it was all of that would become a waste if we get a modern 3rd game. This could be venting too but there's a lot of futuristic and modern games out there already A plague tale is unique, like lit by entering any gaming platform you'll only see space sci-fi games, I really don't see necessary for this game to become modern that would be completely disappointing

As much as it pains me, I think Amicia´s story is finished (game-wise). I think the next game will be in current time and main hero will be tracking the path Amicia prepared for the next protector and carrier. We won´t know what will the path be but we will find out and it will ultimately be the fix, meaning end of Macula for good. De Rune legacy will be world free of Macula.

What I would love to see is a combination of both: Amicia in the 14th century and an ancestor of hers (Amelia?) and her brother in our times. You would play both characters and switching between both or even sometimes play both the same time. The connection would be established through the Macula as a recurring phenomenon and the explanation would be that the Macula is a 4th dimensional phenomenon connecting to our 3rd dimension's timeline every 700 years or and Amicia finds a way to use the Macula's 4th dimensional existence to connect to her ancestor in our universe 700 years later. During the game you visit places in France in both the 14th and 21st century and you see how they changed in 700 years when Amicia and her ancestor are at the same place to solve a puzzle together or Amelia picks up an item or information Amicia left there for her 700 years ago. Sometimes they maybe even are connected and both move the same way, because Amicia takes over her ancestor (or vice versa) and you need to find a way to move through a place simultaneously in both the 14th century and the 21st overcoming blockages. Possible influences for story telling / world building: movies "Frequency" (2000) & "Tomorrowland" (2015), game "Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams".

It's implied that she knew it was going to return someday. Both Aelia and Bassilius died, it resurfaced in Hugo, so it doesn't matter if a Carrier dies or lives, it continues anyway.
All Amicia can do is make sure whoever the Carrier and Protector are in the future could have some semblance of an idea on what to do, better info than she and Hugo got in their time.
It wasn't about stopping the Macula forever, but she could stop it from destroying the world then, and it's up to the future Carriers and Protectors to do their part.

it's the most enjoyable point of view for me that has the most potential.
playing as the same main character through out a game is always a plus!!! and it's got to many loose ends to move hundreds of years in the future...
having it move between modern and past is a bit to annoying as i just want to play as the character i started the story as. :)

I think it's best the writers leave A Plague Tale franchise with the open-ended ending without going into more of it. Seeing Hugo dying after so so much is quite enough for me. And seeing Amicia becoming the warrior she is now after going through every pain and suffering and even wrong decisions turned around (let's be honest, she was a stubborn girl) and getting in control with her emotions. I am pretty much satisfied ending it right there.
Even though we cannot know what Amicia's next adventure could be, let's just assume that she fought a hundred more battles and guided several carriers and protectors throughout her life until she dies just like Aelia did, but hopefully she successfully passed on the guidance to every person she comes across.
If a third game should happen, it is okay if the De Rune legacy was mentioned, but no longer canon with the third installment's possible plot.
I am also feeling that the third game should be birds now, or viruses (without making it Resident Evil-y)

If the Macula resurfaces with a big of a gap as we've seen, she would be long dead by the time the next Carrier and Protector were born.
The best she could do was leave something behind, a trail to follow, like the one she traveled, but with a more optimistic outcome, perhaps.

It can go like this: you're playing a new character and discovering traces, hints left by amicia about guide to fight macula. You'll learn about previous two macula carriers.
Imo they should do it like this:
The game takes place a yearafter requiem and Amicia is living a normal life and then Lucas returns and tells Amicia that Hugo is still alive and Amicia killing Hugo damaged the macula but Hugo is still alive with Ofcourse a different appearance and we have to save him
