Tom Cruise's acting in Vanilla Sky was fantastic. He actually makes you dislike his spoiled, rich kid, pretty boy character. Then you travel with him thru the injury and disfigurement and see him discover that when he was handsome, whatever he said to women was the right thing, but when he becomes ugly nothing he says matters. This film addresses so many different moral themes, exploring friendship, "bros before heauxs", money privilege, inheritance, imagined relationships, lookism, true love, unrequited love, and so much more. Truly one of the best films I've ever seen.
I couldnt agree more. This movie hits so hard. I keep revisiting it from time to time. Everything in it is just perfect for me. From the soundtrack to the overall tone of the movie, to the photography, to the amazing performances. Its a masterpiece
My gosh!!! look at him perfect face + charming + good story telling This is 21 years ago he age 39......now nearly 2023 he goin on 61 Still the biggest star since 80 to now is magical
The absolute honesty of Tom Cruise is awesome : he mentions right near the beginning of the interview that, yes, there is a spanish movie ("Abra los ojos") and that "Vanilla Sky" is not just a remake, it is another version, that you can enjoy on its own or because of the links, the "dialogue" with the original :) Personaly I ADORE both films and "Vanilla Sky" haunts me every time I see it :) It is even a little scary how it goes into your mind, with your own memories, life, regrets, dreams, while you're watching it, and for a long time, after it is finished :) Anyway LOVE Tom Cruise, Amenabar, and of course Cameron Crowe :)
"Born on the Fourth of July" too, Tom did extremely well...I watched one of Ron Kovic's interviews (done on 1977), Tom really did the same in his movie, so great!...
his best performance maybe, but Magnolia is the best movie he's in, and also perhaps his best performance then there's Valkyrie and Collateral where he is excellent
@@AlexA-ls4gc you get that with every remake, I personally prefer this film for two specific reasons, the soundtrack and the whole atmosphere, I feel like the first one is more of a horror while this is more psychedelic insanity, also sigur ros for the ending? Can't go wrong, especially when you find out that song is about birth, very fitting.
@@AlexA-ls4gc still no, as you've not at all talked to or gotten feedback from most people who've seen both again, just speak for yourself you thought the original was better, fine, care to explain why?
I definitely see the similarlies between him and Patrick Bateman here lol. In the first 30 seconds is a perfect example. Tom's eyes are staring intensely at her like a predator, rarely blinking. But his friendly gestures are overwhelming, and almmossstttt overplayed, just to the point of all seeming fake. Not a statement of the actor of course, but its a fascinating observation.
You can see that he felt uncomortable with the question about xmas. How he quckly respond to her where she spend hers and his parents living in Florida. She didn't continue subject...
I love Tom Cruise but for me I didn't really care for Vanilla Sky but some people liked it but moving forward Top Gun Maverick is an absolute masterpiece

That's the life. When people are attracted to you they let you do anything.
Being a prety boy/being handsome are obviously both compliments but 2 different things!
My gosh!!! look at him perfect face + charming + good story telling

Best TC film, one of the best films of all time, and what a tremendous person. THE best.
This and collateral
I loved this film. Love how these actors got to know and love Bobbie, Tom very sweet and respectful towards her.
This was Tom Cruise at the peak of his star power.
Funny enough people say this every year about tom cruise
After Top Gun 2 made $1.5 billion, I think he might still be at his peak
Tom Cruise's entire acting career has been a peak to be honest. He never fails to deliver the goods.
@serenaistheb: I think you mean at the peak of his"Sanity", pre couch jumping era.(2005) lol.😅
Lmao Tom has been the world's biggest movie star for 4 decades and counting.
he is the best actor of the world, respect
One of the best movies.

He deserved an Oscar for Jerry Maguire and Vanilla Sky.

SO much better than the original even though it is in many ways identical

He looks like Maverick in top Gun !
This movie and Edge of Tomorrow are a few of his best

I never understood Rosie’s schtick about Tom Cruise. He was smitten w Penelope!
He’s sooooooo handome. God was being humorous not to make him 6 feet tall.

Beautiful movie… I could remember she whispering in his ears “open you eyes”. 🤍
Who is Rozi???
Rosie O'donnell, man...

Back when Tom had a hairdresser
Was this whole interview scripted
No
He is creepy....
I think it was not correct not to mention Cameron Diaz, because her character has played intricate role the whole story
