Sounds so good! It’s a shame that they performed so badly earlier on in their lives and that only one was preserved.

The preservationists corrected a few design faults on the loco, a pity BR did not, a fault was the fuel lifter pumps and narrow bore fuel pipes, when replaced with better items the loco would start easily without flattening the batteries trying to start the engine, and the engine no longer suffered from fuel starvation and carbonisation issues in the turbos etc

Lovely looking locos, this one seems to go well!

The sound of a class 17 is a 'mix of 1st generation DMU and valenta HST' aka great sound!

Ah, lovely leafy Eridge. Back in the 70’s I worked in London for a time, living in TW and realized that to avoid the Tunbridge Wells central station scrum it was better to use TW West. It certainly was.

Now I know the class 20's are called choppers because at full tilt they sound like helicopters. So would the Clayton's be nicknamed "Planes" ? Because under full throttle they sound an awful lot like single engine light aircraft.

Maybe "Crocodiles?" Perhaps from the fact that they also have long noses like that of a crocodile?
