Olga, please make a video “everything I painted in 2023” or “everything I painted in winter” or a specific month. I looooved the intro to this video, looking at your amazing art. I need more ❤
You are absolutely delightful Olga! Your flowers are one of a kind and I just received your gorgeous Transparent Flowers book. I will treasure it as a ‘work of art’ forever! 🙏🏻💯🧑🎨💐
You are a wonderful teacher Olga. I hope to join your patreon soon. I love painting on Hot press paper and I recently tried the Baohong Satinado paper and it is amazing. It is right on par with Arches Hot press and I like it even better than Fabriano Hot press. I seem to be able to only find it on TEMU, but it is worth the hassle. I really enjoy following you and hope to learn a lot from you. I so enjoy your work and you are absolutely the best with transparency. You are so generous with sharing your amazing skills. Thank you.
@@olgakoelsch The price is very inexpensive, about half the price of Arches, but the coarse paper is VERY coarse and the rough is quite rough but great for landscapes. The satinado is so smooth I can't wait to get more of it in different sizes! I guarantee you will love it.
Thank you Olga! This is the best hot press usage video I have seen! You’re making a believer out of me. I learned botanicals on hot press years ago but haven’t used it since then. Have a beautiful day ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I have always only been a “hobby” painter, but have found frustration with loose florals. I figured out about 6 months ago that I much prefer to paint in the detailed, botanical style. I got some hot-pressed paper, and I have still been frustrated using it (although still enjoying it more than loose florals on cold-pressed) because I have never, ever seen someone prepare/prime it with clean water ahead of time. I have always just gone straight in with a layer of paint, and I get that sorta “fuzzy” look, like the first pink you painted wet-on-dry in the top left or the purple you mixed on the bottom left. I keep thinking I have dust on my paper somehow, even though it lives in my art cabinet tucked away when not in use. It looks speckled, almost like tiny red splotches on very cold skin where the pores or hair follicles show a brighter red colour than the other areas. That probably makes no sense lol. Now that I see your video, I feel like the issues I have make total sense. I can’t wait to put these techniques to use. Thank you again for making this video! :)
So far, I've only heard how bad hot-press paper is. You have proved that it is not the paper or paint; the artist creates beautiful art. Thank you, the video is amazing... Learning from you how to paint an eagle or a falcon would be super.
Very well explained, thank you!!! It was a strange and uncomfortable experience using it for the first time as I'd only used cold press paper. I hated how it felt. I think knowing how to work with hot press will make painting more enjoyable. I love your style, it's so beautiful and ethereal. I'm looking forward to trying some of your tutorials!!!
Your artwork is beautifully done, so amazing. This video has been such a help. Thank you. I have purchased your book and am anxious to begin a new journey in water color.
Great info 👍. Is it possible to achieve a smooth wash using wet on dry technique on a hot pressed paper? I was trying to do a plain/flat wash on a hot pressed paper usimg wet on dry technique but the paper absorbs the color immediately leaving the wash dirty. Is there a proper way to do a plain wash or wet on wet is yhe only proper way on a hot pressed paper? Thank you!!!
This is a bit challenging on hot press. Wet on dry works better on cold press. You have to have enough water on your brush and a drop at the bottom of your wash, but always come back to it (i hope I manage to explain it ) i might make s video about washes 😅
Olga your work are stunnings! Thank-you for sharing your videos with us. * I just tryed to buy the paper but the link above brings me to the COLD pressed paper :( I'll check for the right one.
Thank you very much for those concise explanations. I have struggled to paint florals on hotpress and now understand why. I just purchased your first book and placed a preorder for the new one. I’m a new subscriber and an eager student. Please keep your wonderful tutorials coming!
Olga, this was very helpful. I have not seen any explanation as comprehensive as yours. Thank you!
I am very glad it was helpful! 🤗🌸

Any tip on how to do mandala on watercolor hot pressed paper? I'm struggling 😢
Never done that before! I guess you’ll need a good synthetic brush and nice proportion of water/paints 🤗
