Snorkeling @ Memories Jibacoa, Cuba Oct 2019

After a few years we finally returned to Memories Jibacoa. The snorkeling was just as good now as it was then, at least fish wise. Unfortunately the damage to the reef caused by hurricane Irma in 2017 was rather extensive and can still be seen. The forests of coral that we saw 6 years ago are gone and there is a lot of bleaching happening.

Really good video. Lots of familiar & not so familiar fishes on it..
Did try to get to Memories & Cuba back in February 2021 but the Pandemic put paid to that one.
The trip was cancelled.
We snorkel in Egypt at least once a year generally Hurghada or Marsa Alam in November & February. Rebooked to go to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on 18/11/21 but again cancelled at short notice by TUI due to lack of interest!!!
Come on people, just book it & try it.
Believe me you wont regret it. Snorkelling really is this good be it Cuba, Egypt or any good reef anywhere.

Nice video! I was excited to see the spotted ray, I have snorkeled in Jibacoa dozens of times over the last 7 years and have never seen one.

Thanks. It was quite a surprise for us too. It always a great feeling when you see something new and especially when it's something like the eagle rays. There were actually 3 of them and they circled around us a couple of times before they continued on their journey. Unfortunately the water was a bit stirred up so the pics are not as clear as my memory.
