WFAA Channel 8 news coverage of tornadoes in and around Dallas, Texas on Wednesday September 8, 2010.
I am from Dallas. I was born there, in the 1940s, and I lived there for the first 41 years of my life. Tornadoes occur almost every year, in Dallas. I well remember the April 1957 tornado, which was the worst one to hit the Big D. It is an erroneous belief that they are uncommon in Dallas. The 1957 tornado was....up to that time....the most photographed and documented tornado in U.S. history. The film footage was studied by eminent meteorologists, such as Fujita.
wow wow wow wow wow wow
I remember being caught at a red light close to where the tornado hit, and screaming *"CHANGE! F***ING CHANGE!!!"* Lol... Luckily, it was further away from me than I thought.
There’s zero chance I would wait at a red light if a tornado was coming. No police officer is going to ticket you for running that light.
Oh heck no dude. Next time, don’t be a grandpa driver. You were already in a life/death situation. Just Gooooooo
J Miller I would’ve ran that light!
Thankfully you made it okay.
Don’t worry about the red light the police will understand and would tell you to go
Who’s watching this after the tornado that hit Dallas last night???
I remember this very well. This tornado spun up off the remnants of a tropical storm that had moved into our area.
if i got a dollar for every time he said "downtown dallas" i would be a couple dozen dollars richer
I spent 11 minutes and 38 seconds to find how many “downtown Dallas” he said and it’s about 24 “downtown Dallas”
He says Downtown 27 times and Dallas 44 times.
24(1d) = 2×12
wow this was in 2010
time flies by fast
DALLASFLAMEZ STUDIO ya think it’s been 5 years since you commented this
Dang this comment was 5 years ago, time flies fast
M Ld dang ur comment was 11 months ago, time flies by fast
AngrokVa and yours was 3 weeks ago...
Yeah
This was the first tornado to touchdown in Dallas since 1957.
I remember this. I live in NE Dallas but it was in the path. It got so scary that even my fine ass snobby neighbor who never calls me started texting me 'cause she was afraid. I almost got laid that night.
JasnoGT hahhahah lmaoo
Niiiice
There's a first time for everything
Just think you both could of been arm in arm following the yellow brick road together
😂😂😂 i felt every bit of this comment. "Fine ass snobby neighbor"...she wanted more than comfort😂
I saw the same thing in 1957 that wrecked Oak Cliff. It stopped when it got to White Rock Lake. I was standing on top of Turkey Knob Jr. which is a high point in that area. I was like looking down on the clouds. I was born in 1945 in Dallas.
OH, I remember this; we were "stuck" in Pediatric ER at Medical City with our daughter, told that we were, ironically, in just about the safest place above ground. The more I look at it here, I'm staggered it didn't completely demolish our daughter's school.
I still remember this day. Very scary day!
Reeebekah23 i do too!!!!
Whar was the ef rating
Dam well that sucks
Don’t remember this I was like 4 years old
Yeah that was the time wen i was about to be born and exist the world am 10 yearls old now
Just goes to show that no matter what time of year it is, you’re never off the hook in North Texas! In the 5 years I have lived in North Texas, there have been tornadoes close to my area in October and even in January when there was a moderate risk issued earlier this year!
Usually only if they are certain that the tornado could be very close to the studio or NWS office. On April 27, WVUA in Tuscaloosa had to take cover from that tornado because it was heading right for their studio by Bryant Denny Stadium, and the tornado barely missed them.
I remember this I was four we prayed and prayed we were playing outside in my house then my cousin said look and it was a tornado I called it tomato
I was at work in a Montessori school I work at, and all the parents came back inside the school after they heard the storm sirens....I love severe weather!
Was this the voice of Pete Delkus? I may be misspelling his last name but I used to live their back in the day!
Oddly enough, I don't remember this tornado, despite it happening just a couple weeks before my 12th birthday.
Good thing I wasn't living near downtown at the time it happened.
I live in Elizabethtown PA and I have never seen a tornado. But there have been tornado's as close as 15 minutes away such as Campbelltown which has the nickname of the tornado alley of Pennsylvania.
I live on dallas tx I didn't remember when the tornado was there idk I was like 2 or 3 years old
It was NOT SOUTH of downtown Dallas. This is looking due West of downtown and the tornado was heading NE towards Irving Blvd and Mockingbird. Why he kept saying South of downtown Dallas is beyond me?
I remeber the that hit Dallas and my hometown of Garland Texas that occured back in October 20 2019
This is 2010
Was it south of Downtown Dallas I wonder. I don't think the reporter said
yes Pete said that it was west of Downtown Dallas 7:59-8:02
FANoftheLEAFS_RAPTORS_JAYS. he said several times
🤣
Excellent work. Working live with developing news requires great skill. There's no plan, there's no script, there's no way of knowing what's next. Working with a green screen while watching a monitor is terribly complex particularly under pressure. THis is high-level television reporting, and it ain't easy.
Yeah, there have been plenty of tornadoes, even large ones in the Dallas metro area in recent years, just none in downtown Dallas, while it seems like OKC sees a tornado in downtown every year.
Thx for recording this vid👍
even tornadoes can't touch down in Dallas.
Yes they can.
you are an idiot!
daltex81
.... You completely didn't get the joke did you..?
😂😂😂😂
OUCH! LOL!
it almost followed the same path of the 1957 Dallas Tornado though there wasn't as much damage as opposed to the 1957 twister
Ouch, that must have been scary to go through.
I hope those people are ok during the tornado that hit the town of hundreds of of thousands of people in 2⁰10
Where was the Tornado at? 🌪️ Good thing it's mentioned 197 times because.....Well, my friend. It's in Downtown Dallas
Wow look at that thing rotate ! As a weather geek I'de be loveing seeing this .
So, is it more up north? Because my dad said we were moving somewhere around Dallas without tornados.
Nah, sorry honey. There is no area around Dallas exempt from tornadoes, all of DFW is in tornado alley. Are you from outside of Texas?
Collin County would be the best place to move to. It's north of Dallas and there is like a bubble around South Collin County
There is no place around Dallas without tornadoes. Anywhere in North Texas there can be a tornado.
no collin county is still in the dallas-ft.worth metroplex and tornadoes can happen anywhere!
I remember that day I was crying thought I was going to die (I was like 9)
ajaxx0115 same I was 18 then I live in oakcliff
Same. I was 11 and I was on the phone crying to my mother.
I live in Arlington and I finally saw a tornado in 2019 on Father's Day no sirens no warning and hit right next door to me. I had a dream a big tornado hit euless Texas
Am I the only one who saw the Arch in the video description and thought this was St Louis?
Nope. I thought, "Oh boy, it's in freakin' St. Louis!" Btw, I was born there. (St. Louis, that is, not Dallas.)
I remember going into shelter in 3rd grade and crying cause i thought i was going to die... then having my mom pick me up during the warrning... and see the skys turning green.. going to my cousins friends house... seeking shelter under the stairs... and having an ortho appt. the same day lol... but i was in frisco so this wasn't as bad as dallas. plus once when a tornado was coming towards prosper my dad decided to put all of us in a car and drive away from the tornado. that was one of the scarest moments of my life!!!!
The wall cloud is decent sized. I'm surprised that the tornado isn't any bigger
That's what your girlfriend said.
I wish it had a more defined condensation funnel
I dont cuz that means it has done more damage!
It followed a very similar path to the 1957 Dallas Tornado.
I remember this. I was at my little brothers football game and we all ran to the cars and at in there until it passed
How many tornadoes 🌪 are there in Dallas
it happened on sept 8th 2010 esapiriloka. was at work in the oak cliff area when this happened and i also live in the seagoville area where they other one hit on the same day
@Tanker60a3 Channel 8 has the best weather and overall news coverage in my opinion
Is there a lot of tornadoes 🌪 in Texas
Hilda Molina yup in 2014 we got 241
Yes.
It's not as bad as you might be thinking. Texas is HUGE. I've been here, just south of the DFW area all 27 years of my life and have never been hit.
i remember where i was at a pool called ford pool when the clouds were fine and white and it was sunny. We went home and heard a siren. Then we sat outsde when after a while of silence(the eye of the storm) I was inside when my mom saw a tornado come out of the sky and screamed at the top of her lungs and said "get in my closet!"(we have already got a mattress). We put the mattress on the door and sat. while it went over Allen,Texas. Me,my mom,my two brothers, dog, and cat were safe.
Wow I remember this. I was in the county above this. Wow.
The tornado passed right over my school luckily it never touched down but the outside was real fucked up I was in 3rd grade at the time I think when this happened
I was in Oak Cliff near cockrell Hill when i first heard about it. I went out to the roof to take a good look at it but I couldn't see it.
I WAS BORN ON SEP 2 2010 I WAS NEWBORN WHEN THIS HAPPENED!
I was born 2007 i was 2 years
I love this commentator, "Tornado has been on the ground for about 5-6 minutes, oh yeah, i recommend that you take sheltar" LOL, he was more worried about making a perfect presentation that he forgot to warn people
I was at church when this was happening, and I'm in northern east Dallas.
I remember this, I live really close to the city
I
Wtf is wrong with you?
***** .
Me too
I like them because there so beautiful and I only like them when they hit open fields not busy cities
@@Nukenado-dr9nz hi.
I am new to your channel
!!!!!!BREATHTAKING, ASTOUNDING, FRIGHTENING FOOTAGE!!!!!!
It hit west Dallas i remember that it was about 7 🌪 that day
@23Ryanneumann
Look, I lived in DFW for 9 years and still there, and in all my years here, I have never seen a tornado here.
Wow, this was 10 years ago. Time flies
it crossed the irving mockingbird intersection.
I think that’s in downtown Dallas. I could be wrong.
These Tornadoes always go Northwest “WHERE I LIVE”. Like the Tornado 2wks ago. Cmon
Do you want a tornado to hit you???
What are the transformers??? The power lines??????
I wasn't at Dallas at the time I was visiting my grandpa thank goodness
This is how many times he said down town Dallas

this tornado was caused Tropical Storn Hermine after made landfall in the Texas/Mexico border
waw i remember when that happened in my 4th birthday
Damn you're young
@@BKB788 yeah

I am from Dallas Texas you guys
I live right by oak cliff just in between that, and Grand Prairie and I was shitting myself at that time
@simonneo98 I live in dallas, we honestly almost never see tornadoes here unlike Oklahoma city, believe me we are not used to tornadoes, just the sirens always going off for false alarms lol.
Everyones comment are years ago but a week ago downtown dallas had another tornado
I was born in September 8 2010 that is cool
“Relax folks it’s just south Dallas. If this tornado doesn’t kill the residents, tune in tomorrow night and we’ll let you know that they murdered each other”
I remember this, I was like nowhere near this thing.
I feel bad 😢 for Dallas
I was at a restraunt right under when this happened, Scared the hell out of everyone, thats for sure
I LIVE IN CEDAR HILL AND WE DONT GET NO TORNADOES AT ALL I FEEL SRRY FOR MY COUSIN AND MY GREATGRANDMA AND MY AUNT,UNCLE,STEP MOM,STEP SISTER,AND MY 3 SISTERS LESLYE LASHENA(MEME) AND KRYSTAL

how can this dude be so "chillish" reporting this?
nasty tornado i wouldnt even swim in the trinity river gross
Pretty sure that's downtown Dallas
ok i was like goin to the stoore and my sis said the tornado is in dallas and she took a pic of it
is that a ef 5 wow holey crap
NO
It's was a ef2
1. Tornado ratings are given based on the damage they do.
Honey if tht was a ef 5 well lol Dallas should not exsist rn
It just kills me to hear a supposed expert talking about all the "transformers blowing up". I'd be greatly surprised if this talking head could correctly explain what a transformer is, much less what it does or how it works.
They're called 'POWER FLASHES', and while an exploding transformer could be the cause, that is extremely unlikely. They are most often caused by airborne debris coming into contact with charged power lines. Just a bright electrical arc somewhere along the power lines.
when we had the tornado in midlothian in may of 2010 everybody in the school was making jokes about it it was really fun :)
the meteorologist forgot that this was a two-mile wide multiple-vortex tornado.
that was not a two mile wide multiple-vortex tornado!
I watched it from my parents apt. In west Dallas and it was just across from us two blocks and it wasn't very big at all just destructive
As far as tornadoes go, this is pretty standard. A solid EF-2.

I'm in 2019
Take a shot everytime the journalist says Downtown Dallas
Actually 30 minutes away
I don't remember this
It looked like a pretty weak tornado
Not really. It was an ef2 and It was a multi vortex tornado...
