This sparks joy. Sir Pratchett is my all-time favourite author. Arguably one of the world's greatest. I don't think it's possible to pick a favourite book, though Guards! Guards! is both a stand-out and a great place to start. There is a spot somewhere around Thief of Time and Hogfather where he hit absolute perfection though.
I love Prattchett books and modiphius 2d20. I played one-shot in this system. But WHY did the not use 2d20 od PbtA for this? For example City of mist has awesome system based on tags and PbtA. And those tags are pretty similar to what is on the character sheet here. The usage of increased dice is the opposite to what they told "we do not want to be too dependent on dice". And the whole system seems sort of half-baked to me. And no, my problem is not the fact I would like a crunchy system.
12:15 · Terry Pratchett's Disc World Series · Guards! Guards! (1989) is a fun Disc World novel. · Periodically @HumbleBundle offers a Book Bundle consisting of all the Disc World novels at highest level. · Used bookstores often have the novel available though they tend to be well read. · RUclips has a few Disc World AudioBooks to enjoy (Audible had them all I believe) Enjoy!!!
Mort is my favorite!! Can't wait to test this game and for the KS!! I have the previous version of the game but never played and I think it was too DnDish, the system you talk about is more like what I was expecting about a DW game!
@TalesArcane Yes! It's with the discworld in general, but Weatherwax and the other witches just make you grin every sentence. Pratchett's use of words is just fantastic. I also always get very inspired by his descriptions, from deep emotions to weather patterns; so creative yet to the point. I will definitely take a look at this new system :)
From 'Lord and Ladies' - a cat named Greebo is hiding from elves in a castle armory. He climbs into a suit of armour as the elves are about to break down the door... "Greebo didn't know if he'd make it through the knight."
"You're a Wizzard, Rincewind." Looking forward to this. I've run 1-shots (using D&D5e) using Ankh-Morpork as the setting and the players loved it. They murdered a Licensed member of the Thieve's Guild and had to make amends for it. Ps. Blackboard Monitor Vimes is the best character on the entire Disc.
Although I am a big fan of Terry Pratchett, I feel a bit intimidated by the setting. It's so rich and funny. Trying to replicate that could be a lot of fun, but also it could be a challenge.. although I think I will give this a try at some point.
@@Frederic_S Worth bearing in mind that the tone of the game is set by the players as well as the GM, too. In terms of quirky comedy and satirical elements, I think it's important not to take on too much responsibility for that yourself, because trying to do justice to Pratchett is a lot of pressure! Also, if you keep the games focused on one area at first, that should help with the overwhelming amount of lore and worldbuilding that TP developed across The Disc as a whole.
@@TalesArcane Very good tips! I will definitely download the quickstart rules and give it a try soon. I have at least two players who are big discworld fans.
Will this video get added to the "Dungeon Master" playlist? Sure it isn't specific for 5e, but the Disc World system can provide ideas to handle an odd situation, (not covered in the 5e rules), and add a twist or three for the next adventure. ═══════════════════ · While the Playlist is open, add a description to the playlist mentioning both Dungeon Masters for 5e and Games Masters for PF²/Pathfinder can find benefits in its videos. · Also, anyone running a Fantasy RPG should give a listen. · Need more P² gamers to discover the Channel and enjoy the benefits.
@@buckweaver7961 I know the feeling! Since this video I've reread Men At Arms and now I think that might be close to the top for me, but only until I read another one. I think I'll do the Death ones next.

Under Hour! I do like expanding into other TTRPGs, since I am only familiar with DnD 5e and Pathfinder 2e
It's so much fun - even though my main home game is D&D, I'm always on the lookout for new systems for one-shots and mini-campaigns.

Keep cooking with the great content, mate!
I certainly will, thank you mate!
My gf got me into Discworld about a year ago and I've only read a couple books but I'm loving it. This was a great surprise!
Reaper Man 💀 is my favorite Discworld novel. ❤
Running this on Startplaying games next week! Looking forward to it! This video made a subscriber out of me!

I saw the title card & heard it with the song Safety Dance in my head.
*Uses light fingers to see better in a dark cave*
That there's an example of Pratchett style of problem solving right there, that is.
Ah Weird Sisters is also one of my favorites! 🧙
@@lddelvo6534 It's so good! The interplay between the different generations of witches is so delightfully written.

Awesome!
How does the system help GM keep track of all the consequences? Seems like a lot to track on the GM side from the way described here.
Ohh my god tha nk you! GNU!

Consequences might serve beneficially as traits, right?
Correct! If it goes on the sheet, it's a trait.

@TalesArcane Mort and soul music are absolute treasures.
