The way to think about jobs is this: what would happen if overnight, all people who do a certain job mysteriously vanished? If all TV License enforcers, bailiffs, political scientists and EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) advisers spontaneously disappeared, would it affect your life? Would anyone even notice? Compare this with what would happen if all bus/truck drivers, surgeons, pilots and Strugglers disappeared - within a few hours, it would be catastrophic. Some jobs are more important than others. You do one of the most important jobs on the planet, Mr. Struggler. The solution to the job not being attractive to youngsters is down to money - if Strugglers were paid what they're actually worth, e.g. the same (or more) than MPs, youngsters would be queuing up.
You are so dam spot on there chap. We all just struggle on in one way or another. But the less that do the job the better pay gets.....then the hole circle starts again.....
If it ain't working Chris. Just walk away for 15mins have a think and come back to it. Glad you managed to get that fan out in the end...Great video...
No matter the job, no matter the weather you get the job done Chris, and you always come back smiling and laughing, you are a legend, catch you on the next one, wooo wooo😀👍😊
Mate at least you’re talking to us lot. I’m like this by myself at work. Proper losing it and once it’s off like was never an issue 🤣. This is what makes you the best you tuber showing it for real. Still crack up over the surf board one.
Bloody hell Chris the swear box had a pasting in this video didn't it. Top man you are never beaten mucka . All the best mucka you always brighten things up. Yes ya do ☀️☀️
Chris i used to be the one to do all the shitty wet ,dirty jobs too ,i will admit i got well paid for it and i was never afraid to work in those conditions but i am broke up in bits over it and i am unable to work now over it ,so take some advice from me ,make changes, for one thing get a piece of plywood 4x6 put blocks on the corners and middle makes a great board for lying on ,keep an old seat head rest to rest ur head on ,keep a tarp for covering cabs in shit weather etc @d&Jprojects wouldnt expect you to lie in mud or a puddle they are decent respectable people love ur videos chris
From a man who sails the same struggle as you day in day out let me just say summat. I can feel the neck & shoulder ache from my settee here in Doncaster 😂😂😂😂
Hi Chris ,i loved this video it made me laugh so much 🤣and you are "spot on" mate after watching this video we know the reason why the Next Gen are not to keen to have a go !!! love your tenacity mate and "positive" Can Do Attitude ,keep up the Struggle 😇
Chris you are legendary to your job and family no matter what you get the job done young people should look up to you bud and you make your family proud.
There is also the insidious effect of awareness at the school age level. Without directly doing so, children and adolescents are being fitted for and directed towards office based non-jobs. (The actual aims are much higher but in reality these are for the very brightest/best connected few). I have always been practical, now in my mid 30's I have many of my peers retraining and even taking apprenticeships to do proper jobs fornthe own fullfillment, or desperately wishing they could. I often have rough days, but my friends have rough years with no change in sight.
Quick tip for you Chris, always keep an empty 5L bottle in your van, they are dead handy to put under your head when your neck is aching, you can vary the height of the pillow by letting air out of it and putting the lid back on 👍
Hahaha sorry Chris that was fkn hilarious watching you slowly get more and more wound up as nowt goes right because I know what it's like having to graft in horrid conditions but respect for keeping at it I know alot of lads that would've gave up as soon as it started to hail and rain... some of these young uns want it easy before they've even started and sadly that's just the way society is these days but don't get me wrong there is still a few rare breeds out there
Hi Chris, great video as always, those solder joints are brilliant, but you don't need much heat on them, fair play to you mate, you never turn a job down, the weather never stops you, your a star. Jason in wrexham
Bloody good show Chris .Even had some of our lovely Scottish weather 😂😂. Only do it because we love it. If you dont laugh you will cry😂 iv been there.🍻 Hope you got a good drink when you finished last night.
Carpenter of 40yrs, the sad thing is that is too much like hard work, the main thing with any trade is that you have to be willing to learn from the bottom up and apply yourself, you have to want to do it but unfortunately a lot of todays youth don't have that mindset, always said that there should be the chance of a trade for any young person willing to persevere.
Hi Chris ....nice Saturday catch up with "The Fan Struggle". Most young people these days aren't happy getting their hands dirty , feet wet or hair messy!! Add freezing cold ...you may as well forget it. I know the struggle of trying to get labourers previously. The ones that lasted a week did well !! 😂😂 From my limited experience it's quicker to do it "right first time" which although normally a bigger job actually saves time, teeth grinding and spanner throwing 😂😂😂. I will say though these days things aren't meant to be worked on mate ..the days I used to work on my cars as a young man I still can remember the lost knuckle flesh ...rust flakes in my eyes and some form of muscle pull with over stretching!! Not missed at mate ...... I think D and J will need a pre work meditation room Chris ...calm you down before the trip home brother 🙏🙏 However as per you smashed it mate ....you my friend are a tonic to this life we face ! Keep dry, keep smiling!! Gary 🙏🦉🦉🦉
When I left school in 1974 I had the option of an engineering apprenticeship or a bricklaying apprenticeship,I chose bricklaying, when I informed the apprentice officer he said, "so you prefer to brush it off rather than scrub it off " he wasn't wrong 😂😂
Have this reoccurring nightmare with the Mercedes Econic Bin wagons. So much space and yet unable to do fuck all with it 😂. Got there in the end Chris! Top bit of struggling mate!
Young people will look down at a manual working they want good job with good money and not working in all weather conditions and covered in oil and grease. Even though we think its a good trade they don't think like us .but probably end up in a job they hate for 50 years. On minimum wage. ,
im nearly 40 years hgv driver not easy now but still like it my mates son is tractor mechanic when he started they was 40 on his course now he two years qualified only less than half working as mechanics
Lol na that's bollocks. I know plenty of young lads getting into mechanicing and trades. People been saying the same shit for years lol 😂. It's a very blanket statement.
Been there and done it for over 50 yrs, industrial, automotive, truck and construction plus a stint with Uncle Sam's aircraft. Was laughing my a$$ off one good idea leads into a cluster . Did the right thing by walking away for awhile. The head does get heavy, sorry still laughing Chris. Got to love those designers the way they can lead you to believe if you just remove or loosen this part it will be able to remove Lol Lol deeper in crap maybe if I remove or loosen this. The struggle goes on, some day you'll be able to look back and laugh and reminise be wishing you could still be doing it. Keep wrenching and be safe
Respect to you Chris, the viscous fan and cowling struggle. You're a dying breed. I can't see any young mechanics entertaining that work. So who's gonna do it?????

Nothing better than a 'just' job Chris. I'm to young but bloody hell it must have been nice when you could stand I an engine bay and work on it and the only thing that had a plug on it was the chain in the bath you got in at the end of the day
Lorry fitting is a bloody awful trade to be in. Just jacked it in after nearly 35 years, no more lying in piss stinking services or cow shit covered farm yards on breakdowns.
