I love the way peoples reactions are different for this song because it has a different mix of music. It’s a reflection on our emotions as humans. The first part is dark and heavy, the mid switch up is a good moody feeling like a party and the last part feels like a happy redemption feeling. That’s just my take of this song. The more you listen to the song lyrics and it’s meaning, the song is actually a banger.
This song was used for an anime opening. The name of the anime is called [Parasyte: The Maximum]. I don't know if you're into anime (If not that's cool), but if you're interested. Mabey you could check it out. It's pretty good, and I think it will match your vibe. Their song [Just Awake] is also from an anime, but I'm not going to get into it too much.
So-san adjusted vocoder to the point where it sounds natural these days, back in the day it was a bit different. There's also a live video from way back in the day when it's really jarring how it sounds (almost (?) broken even). But yeah, the vocals part is an acquired taste for most people, never bothered me personally that much, but I can see the aversion to it. It's a part of their signature sound, that's for sure. I see a lot of classics recommendations in the comments, can't go wrong with those, but new stuff hits all the same (well, depends on whom you ask - you get some stuff out of the left field here and there, which is also great).

When the auto tune has hast slopes, it can sound mechanical, or robotic like a vocoder at times. Not the exact same by any means….but can have a similar tone.
