I owned a 1980 L82 in 1982 and to my knowledge they were all automatic...Excellent paint job mine was black also. The interior and glass t- tops outstanding they do have a tendency to crack over time. Especially if you live where the highways and streets are bad.
I had a '79 L-82 4spd. For certain the 1980 was an automatic only. The 4-spd. could not get certified for 1980. The car in the video has been modified or is a fake L-82.
CORRECT...ALL 4 speed cars for 1980 & 1981 Were L-48 engines......they made 5575 4 speed cars on both 1980 & 1981...ALL of them were L-48 cars. (1981 only had the L-48)...
There were a few proto-type L-82 4 Speeds built in 1980, but none that made a dealership. But there were some made. Show the Vin on the window. But this does have the L-82 tach with the correct red line marking.
never liked the last version of the C3, but this one looks pretty good...black over red is awesome. as everyone else said, a 1980 L82 with stick is a unicorn. sales guy is typical annoying sales guy

wow. I thought the fender callout looked a bit out of place. Something isn't right with this car. The highlight is this guy passing a dump truck? I'll pass.
I've heard a few very early 4 speeds may have made it out the plant. My dad got fooled on a 78 silver anniversary someone had put l82 emblems. He failed to check vin 😡 didn't know it should have alum intake, finned valve covers, and l82 on the tach.
If the 5 th number in the VIN is an 8, its not an L82. If its an 8, the trans is correct and its an L-48. If its "numbers matching" with a 4 speed, it is NOT an L82. Period.
Either that's the rarest Corvette ever for it to be a 1980 4 speed L82 or someone prior swapped in a 4 speed or swapped a L82 in a L48 Corvette & did a clone
I thought mine was an l-82 at first until I ran its vin... I have the 1980 L-48 with close ratio MM4 4-speed. To my knowledge the L-82 was never officially offered in 1980 with a 4 - speed.
@@edgargalvan1313 The VIN will only tell you the engine, many shiesters would put an L82 badge on an L48 and rip you off. The 5rh digit of the VIN in 80 is the engine code... "8" for L48 ad "6" for L82.
"the motor is factory and the owners wanted to show that by not cleaning or making the motor look pretty unlike the rest of the car where they definitely cleaned up and totally kept original
I stand corrected, at 01:25 you can see the L82 emblem on the tach. It looks this is a L82 that has the manual swap. Am surprised they did all that work on the interior only to leave the engine bay 'as is'. They could at least clean up some of the rusty bits.
Is this really a L82 car, it was stated that some very early production models may have been released with manual transmissions? This may be a rare car? Do you have the VIN?
1980 L~82 ONLY came in automatic. Fact check ✔ Vette is not a real factory Corvette. How do I know. I am a Corvette fan of 1980. I owned a 1980 L~82. They only come in automatic. 230 Horsepower. Non L~82 was rated 190 horsepower. Why do people miss lead you I do not know. Any questions contact me at: vette99x@gmail.com Stay safe!
The headlights did NOT go down at the same time. And there was no video showing them coming up at the same time. What was the cameraman asked to push after the hood was closed?
That's as close to coming up and going down at the same time as it gets on a vacuum engaged system. If you don't slam the hood and are gentle the passenger side will not latch. If you pussyfoot the hood, you will have to close the passenger side.
i thought that too! Believe it or not but my clock in my '80 keeps perfect time. I bought a clock repair kit and did it myself. After 3 times buying new ones and sending my original off for rebuild only to have them fail in a week....I figured it out. Seriously, it works perfect.....I'm stunned.
This can't be an original 1980 L-82, as it has a manual transmission. Due to the combination of the manual transmission and L-82 not meeting federal emissions requirements, GM didn't make any.
All 1980 L-82s were automatics. The engine may be original to the car and all but the transmission is not. Nice conversion and all but it's not quite how the car was born. Beautiful car and all but I would pass if I were looking for a truly original car. A nice restomod cruiser? Absolutely. But if the tranny does not match the car well that changes the dynamic. Look at the serial number and then you'll know if it's a real L-82 to begin with. I believe it's the fifth or sixth digit that identifies it as an L-82 and that is the number 6.The L-48 would be an 8 and the California-only 305 would be the letter H {going from memory here}. Awesome looking car though. Many other ways to check but this is still a cool car original or not.

correct could NOT get Manual transmission with L82 in 1980
Smog pump also gone and looks like aftermarket manifold

The 1981 engine was actually the L81 (190hp).
An oil pressure gauge that does not work, has to be fixed. In my opinion, it is the most important gauge of the all.
Perfect beautiful amazing looking car thanks friend

I've never seen a sportcar as good look as the Corvette C3 rubber bumper boat tail with front and rear spoiler
If I'm not mistaken all L82 motors had dual snorkels. Single snorkel were used on L48 motors
That has to be the most red on an interior that I have ever seen
The 4spd was only available with the L48 in 1980. Something is wrong.
Good catch Rick, TY
100%
never liked the last version of the C3, but this one looks pretty good...black over red is awesome. as everyone else said, a 1980 L82 with stick is a unicorn. sales guy is typical annoying sales guy
It was not from the factory, no L-82 came with a stick. If it's matching engine, it's not matching trans. Nice mod, not that hard.
I bought my 79 l82 from dealer with 4 speed manual. Still have it
They were 44 l-82 4 speeds built from factory
ALL 1980 and 1981 Corvette 4 speed cars were ALL L-48 engines...NO factory 4 speed cars for 1980 were L-82 cars. @@lifeofmike5126
OH SMACK!!
That’s wrong ! My 1979 L82 has factory 4spd , is all original with under 60,000 miles .
Maravilhosa. Combinação de cores interior/exterior exótica.
They did release 5 pilot cars in 1980 with the L82 and 4 sp trans under RPO-82-UR12-U81
For what it's worth, a search on Google for "RPO-82-UR12-U81" comes up with zero hits. Where are you getting this RPO number?
L82 was automatic only!
It’s a waste of time if you don’t give the price. I’m also skeptical that it’s an L82.
Agreed..I am sure it was a different price for different buyers..
It sounds like a L82
"You can Turn on the speaker here, it sound unbelievable " 😆 these salesmen.. Loving to exagerate.. Vette with a crate motor is the was to go...keepin it REAL...
Even the camera was “a beautiful 4K” camera lol he couldn’t turn off the salesman pitch.
Sounds like a walrus fart through a garden hose ...
Pretty decent Corvette.
If that's an L82, it doesn't have a manual transmission. Only the L48 came with a 4 speed in 1980...busted
wow. I thought the fender callout looked a bit out of place. Something isn't right with this car. The highlight is this guy passing a dump truck? I'll pass.
Love this car. Looks slightly modified but who cares. I have a ‘79 L-82 automatic. It’s not a ‘63 split window. Being stock doesn’t mean a lot.

And no close ratio 4-speed on the L48, it was available L82 only. The L48 got the wide ratio 4-speed as was the case for all year Corvettes.
All the gauges work as they should but this one and that one are always incorrect
Love the black with red interior got some miles on it still a nice Vette...😙😛😛
I just found my dream car

Sweet in anyones garage😅
Does it have a L82 vin, 1980 L 82 only came as automatics, although the valve cover look correct. Does the Tach have a L82 emblem?
Correct Weston.
I was going to ask the same thing
he said in the video the tach has the L82 emblem but the shot of the gauge cluster didn't show it (at least I couldn't see it)
I stand corrected, at 01:25 you can see the L82 emblem on the tach. It looks this is a L82 that has the manual swap. Am surprised they did all that work on the interior only to leave the engine bay 'as is'. They could at least clean up some of the rusty bits.

You don't know how to shut a Corvette Hood you hold it in the middle and then you let it drop about a foot
True, but ive seen on most, the (pull) latch on the inside has to be firmly in, or the hood, might get hung up and not latch on both sides
@@brianjschumer That's true your right
I was under the impression that they didn't offer a four speed trans on the 1980 L82.
Nice cars how much money?
So as someone who is researching and new to the Vette scene..what's the deal with numbers matching?

Breather should not be chrome.
L82 came with the glass tops?
Glass tops were optional on all Corvettes with any engine beginning 1978.

Oil Guage will read correctly if u fix it. Most likely the sending unit. So on true that it never reads correctly.
a comp cam 268 EH cam would wake the motor up
The original L-82 969 cam had more lift and duration then the Comp 268H. What the engine needs is a free flowing exhaust and better heads.
Is it v6 or v8???
There is a lot of ripples in that back bumper
There were no l82 4 speed cars in 1980
This can't be an original 1980 L-82, as it has a manual transmission. Due to the combination of the manual transmission and L-82 not meeting federal emissions requirements, GM didn't make any.
Just 5,069 of the 40,614 Corvettes in 1980 built were produced with the L82 engine, which was rated by the factory at 230 horsepower.
And how many 1980 L82 was a 4spd? They have it listed as not available. Only the L48-4spd
All gauges work except the oil pressure that doesn't🤣.. What's the point of doing a test drive if your going to talk over the sounds of the car?
And the driver's door certification labels that were not replaced after it was painted.

L82 did not come with a manual.

Oil gauge maxed out because they never read correctly apparently ????? Lol
Someone put L82 badges on it. They were all automatics.
All you need is the fake L82 emblems to unleash all that extra horsepower ...
Oil Guage not working
Price would be nice. Old trick dont record any numbers. dont write anything down and damn sure dont video it. Prolly sold and repod 3 times by now.
Gauge should work..
No price 👎
