i served in 1 RGJ FROM 85 .I Tell you when you hear that bugle .the hairs on the back of your neck and the pride you feel ..the best days of my life... when i hear the mass bugles play" high on a hill" or" sunset".. it still gives me a lump in my throat ...
Nice to have this to watch my bro Robbie Williams is on the 3rd to last row playing drums ,, RIP mate , miss you 😥💖 I have photo of him with band major and the bugler behind him 💖
My old man was ben lyons he took over as bugle major with 3rgj in celle I think in 84 sadly no longer with us , the marines were my life but love them green silver bugles , miss you old man rest in peace a proud son
my brother was a percussionist with 1RGJ, until he had an early discharge in 1982 for music college, he said his goodbyes on the morning of Hyde Park 😥 he passed away in 2014, he said RGJ were the best of his life, he played on the original recording of High on a Hill , so sad the regiment has gone, wonder if he is on this , he was stationed in Minden into July 1982, RIP Robbie
a pretty much flawless performance ...thanks for posting this ..the music is bugle call advance' ..silver bugles"..bugler in vienna....the march of the york corps(york, scher marsch)...mechanised infantry".."..u.s field artillery"......great band..
That the B & B of 3 RGJ, they were based in Celle at the time, if memories serve me right. The Bugle Major, I think, was Colin Powell. Dave Cooke is the tall lad on the far flank.
@ipswichlorraine was your father on the sounding retreat on horse guards in 1974? the bands were led by bugle major colin green....i was there , i was 14 then..it was awesome!
@@ebkdeviousd3392 Bob McGowan was in my section. In Anti Tanks 3RGJ! I left in late 1983 but knew Bob quite well. I have pictures of him. I was also best man at his wedding in Cambridge. His wife had red hair. He had an older brother in the Battalion as far as I remember. E-mail me at photowildlife@hotmail.com and we'll chat more.
