Elderflower is very uplifting on the inner spirit. That is what I use them for. Using dry flowers for tea
So far you have the only video that just gets on with it. Thank you so much. Wonderful video!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Love the idea with the plate on top 👍
I just found you !! It is so wonderful to see how you live, Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you and yours.
Thanks, Pamela! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I never cut the flowers I use my fingers delicately to release flowers ready to drop. That way berries can still grow
That's an idea. I wonder, though, if the medicinal properties are as strong in flowers that are "spent." I do always recommend leaving far more than you take, when foraging. Thankfully, elderberry plants are usually so tall, I can't even begin to reach most of the blossoms!
Hi, just picked some elderflower. What is stopping me just putting some in a cup fresh as it is and pour boiling water over it for tea,?
Not a thing! 😊
I picked lots of elder flowers to store for later, but I will leave to dry in net bags. Is there a quick way to get rid of the insects. hundreds run out even a day later after leaving them lying out overnight
Hmmm...I just shake the flowers and let them sit outside for a little bit and I have no insects. I'm not sure what to recommend, except perhaps trying to harvest elsewhere.
Steam them.
HiWhat do you do to get the bugs out?
Nothing :) It's not really a problem for me. But if you're concerned, I recommend allowing your cut flowers to sit outside for an hour or so. Bugs should crawl away.
Can you lightly was rinse off your elderberry flowers?
I don't recommend it. Instead, I'd just shake them off. They will get soggy if you rinse them, which will slow the drying time, which can affect finished quality.
I'm going to make elderflower wine for the first time, why are your stems yellow but the ones I see are green?
I mostly have red elderberries, which these stems are from. Possibly that's the difference?
