I think it was because they do multiple takes of these stages, so they don't want to break a million microphones :-) Usually the performances that are aired on TV are several performances edited together. You can also tell in this one that the vocal line isn't mic'd up, which I'm guessing why they often choose to not even attempt lipsync throughout the performance - there's not much point in lipsyncing when you can tell there's not even a mic lol
