Lyrics
Never seen the sun before
Lying on the ocean floor
I’m walking through the wilderness
And living off the loneliness
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
All the tears I mean to cry
Dance across the evening sky
And in my sorrow I can see
That missing you belongs to me
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
It’s a wild blue since you went away
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
And you’ll never know
The unlikely beauty in letting you go

His greenscreen editing is getting better, he is ready to be a star.

I’m John Mayer and I’m ready to be a star!
Can't wait for the live version when he absolutely shreds the shit out of this song.
Right!? I see him in Nashville in April, and this is a song I’m looking forward to the most.
I see him in October can’t wait
A lot of the songs fade out on this album, meaning that he can solo for an eternity on each one live. I just pray that he comes to the UK
That would make it a bit better.
Will be seeing him do it live next year Seattle 🎸
This is one of those "put on repeat forever" kind of songs
very true
When the world finally ends, this song will be included in the planet's closing credits.

This song gives me big Mark Knopfler vibes and I am loving it 😀
The first time I heard this song I caught it right as the 2nd solo started. I remember thinking "what Knopfler song is this that I haven't heard before" lol
Dire Straits is my favorite band. He captured the early feel of Knopflers guitar like magic. It was like hearing a new and lost song from my teen years. So emotional
Totally agree
As the world is on fire, John is vibing in his own musical world, and I'm here for it. This world is better than the real one.

@@thatkidfromnh God, how I love that tune.
@@Tropicalpisces Definitely one of his bests for sure.
this pretty much sums it all up! 🤝
It takes an amazing musician like John to come up with a song with the bass/drum stylings of John McVie-Mick Fleetwood, the lyrical phrasing of Lindsey Buckingham, the rhythm guitar chords of Mark Knopfler, the punctuating melodic note bendings of Gerry Rafferty with the vibrato lead sound of Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia ( combined ) into a song on the subject of dealing with loss through appreciation of our beautiful surroundings.
Thanks John. You hit a home run with the album, especially with this tune.
Now that's a rock solid comment. 😎

This is one big nod to the 80s, brother
I always appreciated the fact that John plays the correct guitar parts in his videos and isn't just mindlessly strumming. Just adds to the authenticity for us guitarists and helps us learn certain parts of the song right from the man himself (And yes, I know he does that on IG and TikTok sometimes, which is great!)
except for the whole guitar not being plugged in thing.....
This 100%. It's my favorite thing about his playing, it's out there for all to analyze.
I've never really thought about it before, but is it uncommon for musicians to mime the correct notes and chords in their music videos?
@@sillyskeleton It’s more common than you might think. Lots of times the artist will just play random chords instead of the actual part just because it’s easier.

Where he's headed with the sport coat aesthetic and soft rock, makes me think he's my generation's Clapton.
He has been for awhile already.
But hes far better songwriter than Eric (love them both)
The Clapton thing is silly for someone as accomplished as Mayer.
@@TooleyPeter Are you serious? Clapton was called a god before calling people gods was a thing. And he was like 20 yo. He had his whole carrer ahead. He was part of the yardbirds, one of the most important bands of its time; he part of Cream, one of the first supergroups ever. He played everything from blues to psychodelic, reggea, hard rock, acoustic ballads...

He nailed the target of this album - to implant false memories. This song taps perfectly into feelings of nostalgia and a time passed.

"The unlikely beauty in letting you go"
This song came into my recommended at the perfect time. When I had started moving on from someone whom I used to care about. When that person left, it was a Wild blue, but because of that, I found myself. I spent long and hard thinking about what I had done wrong, and what I could have done to be better, but that's me trying to change who I am, then I finally realized, that I can't change myself, but accept who I am. Truly some beautiful lyrics.

10 points, John`s songs comes straight to heart in the right time. Same thing happened for me like 6 years ago and the song was Wheel from Heavier things. I was spending my painful time in summer fields with that song in my airphones. Now is different time, but the same John.
I relate 100%. The day my girlfriend of a few years dumped me, someone I had fallen in love with, I was sitting in my car. Once I got off the phone, this song started playing on the radio and it has had a special place in my heart ever since.

@@tharveytucker1 I like that track musically but I find the lyrics were throw away, maybe for a demo that stuck or something.
In general, I think this album will have a lot more life when it goes live. The tracks are each great in isolation, but unified into album form, the package is less than the sum of its parts. No atmosphere, no dynamics, no ebb or flow. Would've benefited from an instrumental, some more guitar, and less flat production.

If JJ Cale and Mark Knopfler had a song baby, this would be it. Two of my favorite artists embraced wonderfully by John Mayer. Love this song so much.
JJ Cale was the first thing I thought of.
Idk it's catchy but it's just a straight Jj Cale rip off from any of his first 5 albums. Pretty unoriginal in my own opinion.
@@Yamah12a ... No.
A copy is either a copy, or it's not. This is NOT a copy. If that's a "rip-off", then every song is a rip-off. There are *many* things that were stolen from many different artists and songs in there, many that have nothing to do with JJ. It's funny because there are many people who comment this sort of thing - it's unoriginal, it's a copy, it's and it's that - and I'll bet you some solid money that they never released anything on their own. Because if you were to stop making music every time you though "oh this sounds too much like [insert whatever name]" you would NEVER make anything. This is way more polished than a JJ prod, the voice and guitar tone are wildly different, and he wouldn't have written that. So if that's a copy of JJ then JJ copied every folk singer and bluesman before him and so on and so forth... wait... actually that's how art is made, you look at the previous generations to build your own thing. Deal with it.
BTW, I am a massive, massive fan of JJ. My fav guitarist except Jeff Beck.

It came at a hard time in my life when I heard it. I just lost my older brother a day before I listened Wild Blue and it reminded me of my brother. It helped me grieve losing him. Thankyou for such a sweet song. Rosy
One of the best in his entire catalog. Can’t get enough. Just put my girl Luna dog down. This is HER song💔+🎶=❤️
