I'm back home. So I will start from the beginning again. Ans btw, your cabinets look great as is. It doesn't look like too much stuff.

Decluttering is so liberating! I have been in a purging mood-going from room to room and getting rid of all the junk. I think it decreases my anxiety and afterwards I feel proud of the work I've done. It has made spaces like my kitchen and bathroom much more functional.

I would definitely recommend going through your items a second time 1 or 2 weeks later. I purged a lot of clothing recently that either didn't fit or spark joy. I went through it a second time a couple of weeks later and still managed to get another 4 bags of clothing gone that the second time round didn't spark joy or decided that I didn't need.
I loved this video 😍, the kitchen is next in my list to tackle, I'm currently decluttering and decorating my 11 year old daughter's bedroom and It's taking a little longer than i hoped it would 😄

I’ve moved 6 times since 2014 and have tried to narrow my things down because I’ll be moving a few more times in the next 3-4 years too. I took a semester off school and I organized a LOT over Christmas but now I’m seeing more I can do. This video came at the perfect time! I want to really make my space make sense. I have gotten rid of a ton so I don’t think I’ll have to get rid of much more. But I’m living out of plastic storage boxes and I want to know everything is in a place. So ready to organize!!!

Great job! I began really decluttering a couple of years ago and it has been wonderful! I feel like as I decluttered my physical things, it carried over to other areas of my life. Decluttering never really ends though. And the more I get rid of, the more I want to get rid of. We did another big purge last year as we were moving, and now currently temporarily in an apartment most of our things are still in boxes but as we prepare to move into our new home I am going to go through again to be sure we aren't taking anything unnecessary into our new home. I am so excited to be able to organize again! 😊

I’m a teacher, so I have waited until summer to tackle this. I am in the process of decluttering everything! I have started in our bedroom and helped the kids with theirs. We have been in this house for almost 20 years! You get help decluttering if you have a move or two, but when you just keep living in the same place then you just keep packing it in.🙄 Every room needs to be done. We would like to move in the next 3 years or so, and we hope downsizing all of our things will make that process easier as well. We are doing it both taking everything out and going just cabinet by cabinet.

    • @ThisCrazyLife

Good luck! You got this🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I totally feel like moving every couple years has helped us with clutter, you don’t realize how much you have until you have to go through it all🙈 and life happens and unless you’re forced to go through it, so it just accumulates ... but it will feel amazing when everything is decluttered💕

  • @KimHeartsOrganizing

Yes!!!!!!! You nailed it. I've said that for a few years and it makes sense. Every thing you have in your home has to be dusted or cleaned or have maintenance. Once I understood that, things became much easier to declutter. Also, I'm with you, I can't take everything out like Kondo suggests. Like I kind of get it, but it seems overwhelming. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Cleaning every cabinet in my kitchen seems overwhelming but you are helping me go for it!

We have moved 2 times in 15 months, rented out our home of 27 years and bought another home 30 miles away to be near family and the lake. Well, just did not feel comfortable in that situation so we are selling the new home and moved back "home" to our beloved older one. Point is that we have gotten rid of old and new stuff (furniture, dishes, decor items, clothes,, e tc) that it feels so much freer and we feel so much less stress. You are so right in saying the money has already gone and I honestly don't remember what we gave away. Boxes and boxes of stuff and 2 utility trailers of unused things left us and much to my joy. We were not hoarders but for 2 people it was just too much. You are so smart to clear as you go my friend - great vlog!!!! Warm hugs!!

Hubby and I have completed most of Kon Mari in our home. We did the method where we took all of our things out of our kitchen to clear. Ayyya! I mean it’s been worth it but took us more like two weeks to complete due to life schedule.
Other than the initial phases of Kon Mari, I do love the results. I’m not an organized person by nature. And I’m convinced these results bring me less stress and struggle in the long run.

So I have always decluttered in this way! Before Marie Kondo made it cool. I should have written a book! Lol. I’m with you though, I prefer to do one cabinet at a time or one area at a time. I just went through my daughters room and my room. But I didn’t pull everything out and put it on the bed in a pile. I went through one drawer at a time, and I went through the closets one section at a time.
We are getting ready to buy a new build home, and I don’t want to move a bunch of stuff if I’m just going to get rid of it later. Really takes the stress out of moving. So I’m sort of doing the same thing, decluttering the house. Getting ready to move and getting this house ready to sell.
I’m definitely sharing this video. I like how you worded your thought process. “Is it worth my time,” “The money is gone, make peace with it and move on.” Perfection!

I do the same method too - one drawer/cabinet at a time. These past few wks I got real and honest w/ doing the KonMari and stopped this second guessing. My life feels less stress and the biggest benefit is cleaning has become so much easier b/c you're not dealing w/ excess clutter. My biggest thing I tackled was household accessories/decorations. That was a struggle b/c I knew I spent this certain amount of $$, but I didn't want the hassle of trying to sell b/c then again it's taking up space in my house. I do prefer to give things away if I can to give joy to someone else.

We call our junk draws (yes we have 2 also 😂) odds & ends draws. We purposely keep a few tools in one because it’s handy to just a screw driver when you quickly need one.

Dawn from the channel Minimal Mom has a terrific tip for your husbands tools. She put a pretty wooden tray( you could also use a shallow basket) on top of her fridge that holds screwdrivers, hammer, measuring tape, etc.
It’s pretty, it’s functional and it doesn’t take up valuable drawer or cabinet space. And no more friction from the hubby. Haha!!

Im not sure if my mom instilled this in me growing up but I've always ben like this.I do not buy anything unless I know I'm going to use it in my everyday routine. I feel like its probably harder when you have kids though! Also YES to the tupperware situation you had going on. I always keep my lids on for that exact reason and I find it to be so much more convenient. Great video as always! I love when you post new videos, it makes my day :)

Loved the video. I too was very familiar with Marie Kondo after reading her book a few years back and watching the Netflix series motivated me to declutter big time. I started in my closet and got rid of lots of items and my goal is to keep things looking organized and hang things up instead of tossing in a pile and waiting.....It’s been almost a month and I am stilll doing well. I went to the extra bedroom and linen closet but still have a little work to do to finish those, need a few more storage containers. I’m glad you did the kitchen cleanup because that was next on my list. I had cleaned a few summers in a row to get rid of unneeded items and now time to re-visit (I work at a school so breaks are good for that.) I wanted to ask you what you did with your cook books did you get rid of a lot of them? I have some I just don’t touch and with everything on line now I want to part with all but basic and a few specialty books. Thoughts? Thanks for motivating me to stay on top of things! I cleaned 2 cupboards while watching! 2 bags of items to donate now! Oh and lunch boxes for my kids when they were little and water bottles, those were my favs! I finally parted with those item a few years back! Memories live on in their old back to school pics!

Hello! I LOVE the “KonMari Method”! I’m doing it also. I Love all ur videos and it inspires me even more! I do the same way ur doing cabinet by cabinet bc it would be too overwhelming with the whole room out. I’d panic and couldn’t t do anything. I also do go back and see if there’s anything else to rid out. I just done 2 of my 3 bathroom closets/cabinets/drawers and I re-organized them 3 times bc the baskets/bins didn’t plz me. Haha but true! Now I Love It! Keep the decluttering and all videos coming... Blessings! 🙏❤️😬👍
