June 19, 2024 mountain bike workout up Rock Island Trail to Palmer Park and up the North Kninnikkninnik trail to Sentinel Point and down Paseo and Portal Park.
The song "The Water is Wide" ("O Waly, Waly" ) a traditional Scottish song from 1724.
Recorded in 1987 by Laura and Brian and me.
A key ancestor is the lyric "Waly, Waly, Gin Love Be Bonny" from Ramsay's "Tea Table Miscellany" (1724).
This is a jumble of verses from other lyrics including "Arthur's Seat shall be my Bed" (1701), "The Distressed Virgin" (1633) and the Scottish scandal ballad "Jamie Douglas" (1776).
