God I remember doing this. Wing parade and drill comps at Finningley when I was with 148 Barnsley squadron. I was 14 years old. Now im 50. Fond memories indeed
As an ex Sqn Cdr and a Sqn with a great continuity drill team Im impressed with your drill team. Ecellent job and a credit to the Corps. well done to you all.
@MsGrindFreak it's the tradition of the ATC uniform and if your talking about civvies you can wear trousers :) ps loving the tutors in the background ;)
I think it's because the drill manual has changed since then in terms of timings, the march pace is slower and turnings are now (1 left right 1 - for static)
Says the one who watches videos on how to construct a bong! As soon as you see an overall negative effect of the ATC on a cadet, tell me. The Corps has been around for years and is always giving cadets fantastic experiences, qualifications and learning experiences and abilities they had no idea they had. Try experiencing first hand. I guarantee you'll change your mind.
Do you mean not to anticipate the command? not to be picky but i think you mean AP818, which is the RAF Drill manual that has replaced ACP19 as the Air cadet drill manual.
Hello, I am making a promotional video for 187 Sqn air cadets(I attend the squadron) would it be okay to use no more than 4 seconds of your clip?(I will also give you credit for the filming of the video at the end)
Super super late reply, but we came first, did for a few years running. Only just found this video, didn't know it existed, but I was part of the 134 squadron drill team myself
Im from 2516, National Drill Champions 2011 :) not a bad effort at all guys, check out our winning routine at the national finals "2516 Droitwich Corps Drill 2011" or something like that :) Hope to see you at nationals one day.
Stop donkey kicking, your knees should come up to 90 degrees, and the same at the hip, unless you wearing a skirt, in which case, it is 45 degrees at the hip and 135 degrees at the knee, when giving drill, the voice should be clear, loud, and elongated, a sloppy voice causes sloppy drill, and on this video, I can only hear every other word, when the final man steps in after the size, in the files, they are not support to actually say 'up', the whole file should listen in for the stamp, and think In their head 'up' like with any other timings, the right dress was way to fast, all drill except from slow, and double marching should be carried out at 116 bpm, as specified In the AP 818, the timing should be up, two three shuffle shuffle, or up two three dressing, depending from which squ your from, if your taking less than 3 paces, then you don't need to swing your arms, unless it is a command like 5 paces_____ in which case you still don't swing your arms, the command for saluting is squad/flight/parade/squadron salting to the front to the front salute, unless a salute has been given immediately before , in that case, you can say to the front/left/right salute, but not on the first salute, when saluting to the front on the march, it is two check paces, not one, at the time of making slow march is 58 bpm, when marcking time, knees should me up to 90 degrees, unlees your in a skirt, in which case look at the top of the paragraph.
not really being in a cadet squad is helping with discipline, leadership and team work and i also wouldn't be dissing them because one day they might be serving your country so you should be proud not judgmental
Just as an answer to all of the uniform questions. The ATC or the ACO girls only wear skirts with the Best blues (No. 1) Uniform. otherwise we wear trousers like the boys. Coming from 832 Gairloch/ Wester-Ross Squadron, Scotland.
Your salute to the left and right lasted 4 seconds not 5 and the cadet(can't see his rank) calling the drill was donkey kicking, other than that it was pretty good
everything was good except some commands and also the flight IC was donkey kicking, other than that i cant see any other mistakes, i know all this because i am a cadet on 861 (wideopen) squadron, Durham and Northumberland wing
Well, we've been doing it for years and society has been improving for those years. Correlation is not causation, but what negative effect could you possibly see? I certainly can't see one. Not in the ATC anyway.
Goodness. They’ve been taught ever so strangely... What really annoys me though is that they carry out the command before the final word is called... I hate it when people anticipate... I guess this is because it has been practiced a lot but still... the timings really irk me because this is the old drill timings...
I wanna join the air force cadets so it will lead up to the air force when I can swap to a commercial airliner pilot but I don't even know hew tot tie a tie
God I remember doing this. Wing parade and drill comps at Finningley when I was with 148 Barnsley squadron. I was 14 years old. Now im 50. Fond memories indeed
10:00 LEFT WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL
Flipping heck that's fast! Especially the marking time
I’m in the RCACs (637 Arrow Squadron) and I can only say this is so much better than the typical drill of my squadron.
As an ex Sqn Cdr and a Sqn with a great continuity drill team Im impressed with your drill team. Ecellent job and a credit to the Corps. well done to you all.
This is the old way of doing drill the new ones I bit slower
As a Sqn Cdr of many years and a Ex Cdt SNCO who trained many a drill team I have to say these guys are really good, well done 134Sqn
Air cadets man. Honestly
This looks really good, be proud of yourself. From LAC Kilpatrick, No. 9 Squadron (City of Wanganui) Air Training Corps, New Zealand Cadet Forces.
I started teaching my cadets 818 drill last october when i left as a recruit from raf halton
They started marching before the order was called
*pre-empted
Thats the word! Couldn't remember when I posted this, ages ago!
love the way that some of you guys march :P
SQN with 4 digits? Lol that's weird for me. In Aus the max you can have is 3 unless you have 100 SQNs per state.
Greetings from an NCO of the AAFC
Greetings from the ATC
Greetings from a cadet of Air Training Corps Sqn 1919!
Syrron i forgot you arent in australia lol
424 SQN, here
AAFC 105sqn is the best
Good god you guys look like you got it harsh.
Greetings from a American Cadet
because 818 was introduced January this year and this drill was taking place last year
@MsGrindFreak it's the tradition of the ATC uniform and if your talking about civvies you can wear trousers :) ps loving the tutors in the background ;)

That donkey kick tho
wooo i was at WFD 2011 but im 1094 and we arrived 30 mins late for drill i hate our SQN. sometimes
Do you mean not to anticipate the command? not to be picky but i think you mean AP818, which is the RAF Drill manual that has replaced ACP19 as the Air cadet drill manual.

Owen Copson go for it
Cccccccchhhhhheeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaattttttt!! Someone is prompting the Drill IC (08:24)
our squadron calls it cow kicking assentially the same
This is England:) :D - Cpl Wall 2359 Woolton squadron, 2ND in Corps banner 2011
i really really miss air cadets :-(
Their marching looks so relaxed, they seem all floppy. And such a long video!
@Greg Jennings certainly did, THE BEST, of I'm honest mate, good luck for Sunday!
Any tips? I'm starting air cadets soon and I'm worrying drill might be a problem for me...
When you first join you don't have to be that good and that's drill team
Emily Greer don't worry, i felt the same as you. I started around 6 months ago. You will learn how to do it and it will not be a problem.
It looks so difficult but it’s honestly really easy.
Wow. Drill has changed over the years dramatically. :s
what country?
\cause im a girl and we wear pants same as the males. it's equal
I wish my my ATC compound was this big...
Very good performance.
lots of timings have changes since then and it looks alot smarter
in 2011 wfd what place did Bedford come?? All i know is they look awesome, good job lads :)
Super super late reply, but we came first, did for a few years running. Only just found this video, didn't know it existed, but I was part of the 134 squadron drill team myself
is that RAF Wyton?
What country is this? And why is the girl wearing a skirt?
Wish my squadron could do drill like this
Air cadets
Its all practice really. What squadron?
where was this drill taking place?
Im from 2516, National Drill Champions 2011 :) not a bad effort at all guys, check out our winning routine at the national finals "2516 Droitwich Corps Drill 2011" or something like that :) Hope to see you at nationals one day.
I'm in the afc and this is only 20 times better then my squad I'm a cpl so I know what I'm talking about this was pretty good

We call it a cow kick i saw that a couple times to
I felt like I didn’t hear him say flight or wing
Nvm I heard the flight
It's certainly better than moseying along like an undisciplined gaggle.
not really being in a cadet squad is helping with discipline, leadership and team work and i also wouldn't be dissing them because one day they might be serving your country so you should be proud not judgmental
Oh dear Kieran... xD but i think i did well training your guys to come second ;)
You need to tell your sqn to wait until the order is given
then to do the order
i think it is part of AC818 or ACP818 (the new drill thing)
AP818?
Just as an answer to all of the uniform questions. The ATC or the ACO girls only wear skirts with the Best blues (No. 1) Uniform. otherwise we wear trousers like the boys. Coming from 832 Gairloch/ Wester-Ross Squadron, Scotland.
How did 73 squadron do?
Some are donkey kickin'.
Cow kickin in Vic :)
Your salute to the left and right lasted 4 seconds not 5 and the cadet(can't see his rank) calling the drill was donkey kicking, other than that it was pretty good
Timings for left and right salute is only supposed to be 4 seconds, at least it was back then. The count was up, 2, 3, 4, down
220 won aircraft rec this year
Bravo. M.
they are not doing 818 drill
Where is 134 squadron? I am asking because our Canadian air cadet females, do not get skirts, they wear slacks
Bedford England.
you ahem better uniforms that me, I have a grey field dress
Looks a bit scary!
It's not really that scary, you get used to it :)
cuz thats the uniform
NCO in Charge Donkey-Kicked on the About Turn
Cool. We have to wear pants
@fire5736 and how the fuck did you get THAT DRILL VOICE?
everything was good except some commands and also the flight IC was donkey kicking, other than that i cant see any other mistakes, i know all this because i am a cadet on 861 (wideopen) squadron, Durham and Northumberland wing
you mean It's certainly better than moseying along like sea cadets
2:30 needs to be "on parade (rank)"
The NCO in charge's parade voice really irritated me, he was almost screaming it
Only issue for me is the legs; 90 degrees or 45 in a skirt. Also don't donkey kick (I'm one to talk aren't I?)
all the ncos are shocking :L and i used to be the smallest i feel sorry for him
1 left, right 1
Well, we've been doing it for years and society has been improving for those years. Correlation is not causation, but what negative effect could you possibly see? I certainly can't see one. Not in the ATC anyway.
My squadron came second at regional
ooh cool :)
No way thats 116 steps a minute, or even 120 as it may of been at the time.
I swear I saw a bit of cow-kicking
Absolute perfection
lmao you call that donkey kicking perfection??? still a good job tho, just bugs me a bit
his drill comands are sooo wrong
And every commenter is a sea cadet :D
Goodness. They’ve been taught ever so strangely... What really annoys me though is that they carry out the command before the final word is called... I hate it when people anticipate... I guess this is because it has been practiced a lot but still... the timings really irk me because this is the old drill timings...

JustAGiraffe trust me i just joined and it's a lot of work but worth it
the NCO in charge of his squad was shite at marching
the arm swing is a little over done lol alt over done
how the fuck do you guys understand what he is saying?
GameKnight 3000 Its a lot clearer in real life and not all sound like that lol
181 is better
United kingdom
Pretty good... my squad is better though^_^わわ
This is a disgrace they can't march properly nor did they do continuity drill.
There marktime is non existent, there marching like robots and cloud punching
