Hello Paul! I found your channel this morning, I was looking for Lodge Cast Iron recipes . Your story is inspiring !! Happy to see you are doing so well! Have a wonderful Sunday!
Hey, I just found your Channel I just watched your story of surviving cancer throughout the last 2 years now I’m watching your other vids and I love the educational side of the Channel keep up the awesome work, I’m definitely going to keep watching.
Thank you so much! Certainly surviving, and subsequently dealing with the aftermath, of cancer had a huge impact on my life and our channel. I appreciate the well wishes, and hope you find lots here to enjoy.
We're well thank. Winter has been mild this year compared to normal, albeit still a good deal colder than Virginia. LOL! Admittedly there hasn't been much adventuring in the last couple of months.
@@Realunitedstates We'll just wait till the two of you catch a mood..Just thinking of You and Bev and the crab cake video.. See you when the spirit moves you..❤
Great Video!! So much info packed into that. I was going to ask if you had any Canada videos. I searched and liked them all, especially the Tell Canada their Great! THANKS!!
Thank you so much. We don't post much about our neighbors, but from time to time we are right up against the border and that's when we get to opportunity to say hi! :-)
I never know what odd tidbits I am going to run across in my travels or research. This one seemed pretty cool. Thanks so much, and we are so glad you enjoyed it. Paul
Hey thanks so much! I really wish I had more time when I was in Ohio, but it seems like I'm always in a hurry. It's been quite a while since I was in Cleveland, though I pass nearby periodically. Hope we will get the chance to visit at some point.
Another fun fact about the area (native Clevelander here) the western part was called the Firelands, named because land was given to colonists whose homes were burned out by the British during the US Revolution.
Hey Evan! We drive through the state with some regularity, but never get time usually to spend much time. There are LOTS of interesting, and historical, places and things here.
That original land parcel was bananas. I didn't realize Connecticut was one of the states that had started out with such radically different territory/size. I thought the east coast above the Carolinas(with exception of Virginia), and that north of Washington area, except for some small border disputes, had been mostly all the same from the start. Connecticut being wild like that is a real surprise!! The house behind you looks so much like the house in Mr.Blandings Builds his Dream House! I know it's not super uncommon style, maybe the light and camera angle did me in! Hope you and Bev had a more chiilled time filming this than Myrna Loy and Cary Grant had in the movie ! 😘
There were a lot of things about land grants in the colonial period that seem strange given today's understand of geography. Seventeenth century, knowledge or understanding of the physical nature of the world was pretty limited. Not to mention that there was an arrogance about kings and their ideas that we have no current frame of reference for. Claiming and granting huge tracts of land was, they felt, a birthright. By those standards, we own both the moon and Mars. :-)
Love this video because it taught me (once again) something I never knew anything about before this. Just looked it up on Wikipedia, too, and see that there's a map there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut_Western_Reserve#/media/File:Ctwestclaims.png
Yeah, and the map does help a lot because my description/explanation was a little vague. So I am glad this sparked some additional research for you!! We were actually back in Streetsboro, well, this morning actually, but the weather was not conducive to doing any video, as it was pretty cold and rainy and windy. Maybe next time. Turns out there are a LOT of interesting things in Ohio that we might like to video.
It seems like a reasonable deduction. and it is in fact exactly where the name came from as one of the preceding or founding institutions was Western Reserve College.
I'm going to go back in time and become a land speculator and take the name Lenin. That way there will be a Leningrad Ohio, and then Paul will do a video pointing out how strange it is that Leningrad Ohio was once Leningrad Connecticut before there was even a USSR, not knowing that he started the whole thing. ..... I guess that we don't see this sort of thing is proof that time travel is not possible. .... Saturday evening musings....
Well, here's the rub, as I understand it, if time travel IS possible, the Probability of an event that would cause a paradox is essentially zero, according to the Novikov self-consistency principle. Yes, the rumors are true, I really am a nerd.
LOL! Now now Richard, play nice. I can appreciate a friendly rivalry, even though I am not a sports enthusiast. Still there are a lot of very interesting and cool things in Ohio.

Ohio was once in Connecticut? So was I!
So I'm told. I was actually THERE, but according to records . . .
I've long wondered how Case Western Reserve University got its name. I'm sure this is connected somehow.
It seems like a reasonable deduction. and it is in fact exactly where the name came from as one of the preceding or founding institutions was Western Reserve College.
Here's a page from CWU that might help explain the origin of the name, and you are correct. case.edu/about/history.html
NE Ohio was part of Connecticut. Southern Ohio was part of Virginia. And that is why Ohio is a swing state.
That's an interesting idea.
You are have subscribers even from Russia. I am from Russia.

Columbus is the Ohio capital city.
Yes it is.
@@Realunitedstates Will you have a video off it?
