Uk law changed recently. You cant use accidental suffocation in sex as a defence anymore as there were too many cases of women being murdered and “an accident during sex” being given as an excuse. Not no more!
@@rjunxiYou don’t. These men didn’t kill the women in an accident. I They murdered them willingly, thinking they can get away with this excuse. But not anymore 🙅♀️
props for using original, non clickbait titles. true crime channels are notorious for that crap, i hate it. plus, i cant easily tell if ive watched so thats a double whammy
The consent to own murder was somewhat tested in the UK with a bizarre case involving two teen friends. One of them pretended to be a third person and convinced the other teen to murder his friend (actually himself). The murder didn't happen but when the truth of it came out the first guy was convicted of procuring a murder - his own.
even if it’s consensual that doesn’t magically make it legal. most ppl do drugs consensually but it’s still illegal, you can claim someone asked you to kill them but you still killed them which is illegal
Right, it's like with minors. Even if you could convince a cop that the kid fully understood what it was consenting to, it's still illegal to sleep with minors, so you're going to jail either way, consent or not.
P*rn has always been a huge driver of technology. Using a credit card on the internet is basically a thing because of P*rn websites. Also, Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD - p*rn went with Blu-Ray as their standard, which killed HD-DVD dead.
Recommended case: Kenneth Bluew. The cop who killed his pregnant mistress (who wasn’t even going to make him a part of the baby’s life since he already had a family) and tried to make it look like a suicide. And his fellow cops who sensed something suspicious and investigated him anyways. I’ll never forget the family members who took one look at the printed ‘suicide note’ and said: It was printed. We knew immediately it wasn’t from her and we didn’t even read it. If she had written one, it would have been handwritten with a sparkly pen and each of us would have gotten our own letter. Plus, Kenneth’s sister was ridiculously delusional and refused to believe the DNA evidence made him guilty.
It's ridiculous how long it took them to finally charge him. It was incredibly obvious that he did it, and he was seen on the apartment camera just before the time they believed she was killed. Had it been a regular citizen instead of a cop they'd have charged immediately. I'm glad she and her family finally got some justice.
I think of it like sex, you can send hundreds of emails talking about how you intend to have sex with someone, but when you’re actually in that situation your mind might change and you revoke consent. We’ll never really know but I think it’s still murder.
@@brandyyolidio4213 And while that is perhaps a point to be made about this case, in terms of sex, it's something you are allowed to say no to even when you are standing in front of the person you agreed to have sex with. Consent works like that.
I would never go down this rabbithole otherwise, but since we're talking about it... perhaps you could video record the whole thing, to show that even until their last moment, the person was consenting and didn't change their mind? I mean, the whole thing is sick, but once you've gone that far, videotaping it isn't beyond the pale..
The fact that he didn't report the accidental death really does add to the case. If it was consensual or an accident, and he really believed he did nothing (intentionally) wrong, the reflex to hide it makes it suspicious.
I imagine there's probably enough email evidence back and forth that could determine if that's what Sharon wanted to happen? Perhaps this was all discussed beforehand. I'm not brave enough to submit the FOIA and read through all the emails to say one way or the other though.
it sounds to me like he wasn't even trying to really hide it, given where and how shallow she was buried. to me, it seems like he felt he did nothing wrong and therefore had nothing to hide, which is also why he went back to work as usual after it happened
What Sharon wanted is irrelevant to what Robert did. Decent human beings do not use someone else's suffering to their iwn advantage. Sick. It's just wucked.
Yes, and thankyou for stating this. Sharon may have been roleplaying, or following a kink, or looking for paying clientele, or enjoying some out-there online chat. No matter which, she deserves no death sentence. Some people enjoy a little choking during sex, and that has been used as an excuse for DV perpetrators. However, the laws in my country (Australia, as of 2019) now reflect that sexual choking cannot be used as defense by anyone who strangles a person to death.
Reminds me of the "Cannibal Cafe" case years ago where the guy consented to have himself killed and consumed by someone else, and they recorded the whole thing as proof that he was compliant. The guy who did the act is Armin Meiwes, and the guy who he consumed was named Bernd Brandes. This took place in Gernamy (shocker, huh?) back in 2001. He was originally convicted of manslaughter and only given 8.5 years, he was later retried for murder and sentenced to life. The funny thing is that he's now a vegetarian. I guess the whole experience left a bad taste in his mouth.
This is one of the few true crime channels I can watch on here. It focuses of the victim not just the perpetrator. Very respectful, and well mannered coverage.
It’s not really something people care to report on because it was just two consenting adults. It’s a curiosity more than a case that required a lot of investigating and with a victim and perpetrator. There was a perpetrator but not really a victim and certainly not a victim that will have people’s sympathy.
oh man..........THIS is why i'm always game to hear your take on a case i've already learned about: you take the time to actually illustrate the person sharon was. it's really easy for us to get lost in her fixation on violence and pain, but before there was "nancy carlsen" making whatever videos men requested, there was an ambitious young girl whose only offered prospect in life was to be as well-behaved as possible and spend her life stagnating. with that reminder, and the knowledge that her parents won't even fkn CLAIM her anymore, i honestly can't blame her for wanting to die. it's so much easier to just look at sharon as some deranged, depraved deviant, rather than an isolated woman who hated being alive and only felt a sense of control in her own life by choosing to endure pain. it's tough to say whether sharon might still be alive if she'd gotten psychological help, because we don't have any way of knowing how receptive she might have been or whether she really even wanted someone to save her. her death instinct ultimately became so much stronger than her survival instinct that i'm not certain she would have even wanted to be saved. another mark on the board for the insecure attachment industrial complex, i guess. i hope sharon is finally at peace.
Such good points and a very insightful comment, thank you. In many of these cases where somebody has a "death wish" fantasy that some monster online or through a newspaper decides to fulfil (like in the Armin Meiwes case), the victim is always somebody who has very vulnerable mental health. They are taken advantage of by sadists who think that the consent of a mentally sick person is enough to commit an atrocity. Unfortunately, there are many people in society who do not know the difference between a severely mentally unstable individual "consenting" to something that will hurt them or even kill them, and a well-adjusted adult consenting to something that isn't nearly as harmful. Too many people think that if somebody is an addict, they deserve the worst of fates. Why is this? So many addicts are people with mental health issues and rough upbringings. They are to be pitied and helped. Society hates addicts unless those addicts can act, or sing, or paint very well, then suddenly they are national treasures. The hypocrisy is awful. In Germany, it is illegal to sign a contract with somebody who is deeply and obviously mentally disturbed and who does not have a representative that has their best interests at heart. The contract would be treated as void, same as if you were to sign a contract with an un-represented minor, or with somebody obviously inebriated or stoned. Nevertheless, people do this everyday, scamming those who are mentally or physically disabled, or inebriated, or young. And despite all these laws in place to prevent this kind of thing, society shames the victims first and foremost and lets the scammers get away most of the time. For instance, legally, any kind of sex where one person is sober and the other is very intoxicated is by definition rape. And yet, every time this kind of situation gets brought up in court or even in conversation, almost everybody treats the victim as somebody who was capable of consenting, and the whole thing is thrown out of court and viewed as definitely not-rape, even though it definitely is. What a backwards world this is.
she was a scammer from the beginning.. Targeting children for "psychic" readings, as an example...hassling her real life friends for her cheap trinket books? Scammer. Then she dived into her pervs beyond using others financially.
Vile. Preying on underdeveloped kids who wanted love and money. I just wish she had gotten help instead of doing all this deranged shit. It's not that easy but.. Fuck.
You brought the best possible moral out of this story. Please please begging yall do not engage in breath play unless BOTH of you are informed in how to do so safely and what to do if something goes wrong. One must also consider. The murderer can consent to murdering, and consciously the murdered may have consented to death, but the human body tries to preserve itself any way it can until death regardless of what someone wants. It is autonomous of our wishes. It is hard to know, as we will never be in someone else’s mind in their final moments. We are barely in our own in that moment for ourselves. Death by its very nature I feel is so overwhelming an experience it takes the ability to consent away. Even as someone like Sharon objectively, if she was in fact a suicidal masochist, I am not capable of consenting to be murdered because I am not in my right mind. It seems like a paradox. A really sad one.
You bring up things that are often ignored in this case, thank you for that. As a psychologist with a speciality in transitive experiences around death, you are absolutely right. The moments leading up to death are a completely different experience from the rest of someone’s life.
Ive no doubt she changed her mind in that final ordeal - just like the people who leap to their deaths. Survivors of jumpingnoff golden syate bridge say they changed their minds on the way down
I’ve nearly kicked the bucket 5 times now. Twice traumatic blood loss and 3 times ketoacidosis leading to ALL SORTS of gross nonsense. I’ve also been depressed and sxicidal off and on since I can remember. Believe me, when you’re right there and you’re going you don’t want to anymore. The will to survive is phenomenally strong. Even if you think you don’t want to and the pain and panic is excruciating you still battle on. All my docs and nurses, bless them all, can’t believe I’m still around and say I’m like a cat with nine lives. I’m not a religious person but I’m not sxicidal anymore after my experiences because, for whatever crappy reason, I now believe I’m here for a reason. I can’t help having feelings of being down sometimes, especially around lady time, but I no longer want to cause myself deliberate harm. Humans are weird 🤷🏻♀️
I would think at some point she did want it to stop, there's no way the basic instinct of survival didn't kick in and her will to live didn't kick into overdrive. All round just a sad case
You would think so, but if you look at the case of Armin Meiwes, his victim consented and asked for his death till the very end. Although he was very mentally ill, having absorbed guilt from something his mother did, and feeling he needed to atone for her wrong doings.
This reminds me of a personal experience. I knew a woman that liked being choked during sex. The issue was she wanted the choking to go all the way. No pretending, no stopping when she passed out... She believed knowing she's going to die would possibly give her the best O she'd ever have. It was very hard to wrap my mind around the fact that it wasn't just fantasy for her. She completely cut me off when I was "too much of a bitch" (her words) to give her what she desires. I always wanted to believe it was just a fantasy and she'd "tap" out when the choking went too far. This was well over 10yrs ago and I havent heard from her since she cut me off... Watching this now, there's a huge knot in my stomach. And I feel immense dread. These death fantasies are actual fetishes that people want to be carried out. This one made me feel sick.
I had this problem with someone I consider "the love of my life that got away" It was to that extent but with knives too, it made me so uncomfortable and when I couldn't do it I was cut off completely, I still think about it sometimes. Like, how someone gets to that point. Idk it's strange to me. Edit: We reconnected recently on Facebook after ten years and she's turned her life around however she moved to another state and I've gone through some very deep changes with my own life But, I sit and think about how things could have maybe worked out differently if we learned to help one another but I guess you can't help others only yourself I was glad they were gone back then but now as I've gotten older I constantly think about how things could have turned out differently
@@CaptainHowdy-r1f its gut wrenching knowing that they could have very well met someone who had zero issue carrying it out. I hope it was just an infatuation with extreme bdsm. But this video just drove that stake of unsure a little deeper
The survival instinct is the most basic, central instinct in the human psyche, in many ways it drives all other instincts. Anyone who expresses a wish to die is not mentally sound and needs help. She was not terminally ill and in constant pain, she was not a 90 year old just “ready to go”. She was a woman who needed help and he exploited her.
My boyfriend accidentally killed himself with autoerotic asphyxiation nearly 2 years ago. Please PLEASE if that is your kink, don’t ever partake in it alone. Nobody deserves to find their loved one the way that I found him, and no mother ever deserves to bury her own child. Rest in peace, Gabe. I miss you everyday.
I'm so sorry. It's also a very embarrassing way to find someone imo. I was introduced to this kink by hearing about parties that supervised this kink. RIP.
Now I’m no legal expert, but I really don’t want people who act on these kinds of fantasies to get away with no consequences. I am not sure if it’s murder, but he definitely deserves prison time.
Had she even done bdsm in real life? She might think she wanted to be tortured but discover the reality doesn't turn her on at all once she is actually in pain.
It being consensual and sexual doesn’t make it not murder, suicidal or otherwise, she prompted him to kill her, and he had done it. He should have gone to jail for murder, because it IS murder
Negligent homicide, as per statement it was accidental at the time and evidence supports that. They passed on a premeditated murder charge, so murder also no longer applies. Murder includes the intention to kill, which may have been discussed but there’s no evidence to support that was the intent at the time. Even she would have liked something a little more violent which then would sway it over to murder.
This is one of the few channels that I think tastefully discusses violent and sexual content without delving into the exploitative or voyeuristic. It treats mature material delicately, and never implies adult sexuality is something shameful.
"Glass was found dead of a heart attack in prison on February 20, 2002, one month before he was to finish his state sentence and begin his federal sentence."
@@KotaKoci Idk, that's why I asked the same thing in my comment that you asked. Maybe it has some meaning to the victim and her family? Or maybe nothing at all? Just thought all those 2s were strange.
My thoughts: I think Robert should have been prosecuted even if he wasn't a predator. He said he killed Sharon by "accident", meaning her consent had not been given prior to her death. He then buried the body in the backyard, instead of calling the police. This showcases to me again, that he knew some wrong doing had happened, and he was trying to escape some form of taking responsibility for her death. To me it would have been at thr very least a manslaughter charge , given his narrative of it being an accidental death, and the fact we have evidence of her more extreme sexual fantasies and correspondences with Robert.
So I have mental illness and autism, and I've been taken advantage of by people because of my self hatred in the past. Consensual you know, but it wasn't right. When someone is sick like that they can't advocate for themselves fully, they need a hospital with people who care. They don't need people to hurt them just because they don't care enough about themself to stop it, or hate themself enough to consent to it. That's just my thought. That's taking advantage of someone who doesn't fully have a grasp on reality and that's wrong, they're vulnerable and need to be handled with care.
Kinksters will argue that it was perfectly within the person that abused you's right to abuse you, and that they were just "having fun". Kink is often just somebody abusing someone in a vulnerable mental position, or getting off on somebodies past abuse history and calling it "therapeutic" to relive sexual assault scenarios. It's horrible and it's psychological sexual abuse (as well as physical), and if you try to call it out you're immediately labeled a "kinkshamer" and a "prude" by these abusers and their mentally ill codependant partners.
@@alexbush714 yeah due to my past I was into some rough stuff, I consented cause I was reliving a bunch of trauma and it felt right to my traumatized brain. And if I ever tried to say no or anything, they wouldn't really listen and would get upset. I know that's not what a respectful dominant person would do so I understand when kinksters say that's not what normally happens, but it happens a lot more than I think anyone really realizes. When they tried to hurt me outside of the bedroom and I tried to defend myself they'd be frustrated or confused, and tell me that I liked it so I shouldn't fight back. that's when I realized I needed to step back from the kink community for a pretty long time. I engage in lighter activities now with someone who is very very kind and gentle with me. She doesn't want to hurt me at all and established a more dominant position in the relationship only after a few years of knowing her, when I was truly comfortable with her presence and when she knew and had developed compassion for my past and the trauma I had suffered, and I knew and trusted her to handle me with care. Even if I give her permission for certain things she won't do it because she is gentle and really cares about me and my mental state. It's a lot different than anything I've experienced in the past and I think this is what an appropriate kinky relationship should be like. She is very very very conscious and gentle and won't do anything to hurt me even if I told her she could in the past. I actually feel really safe with her. that's when I realized that I needed to find people that know they could take advantage of me, but instead choose not to because they genuinely care about me Kink is really weird to establish boundaries on because the whole thing about it, is sexual deviancy. Different people have different extremes, and I found people whose extremes seemed to revolve around hurting me especially when I revoked consent
Your introduction of Sharon was so warm and real, it was emotionally evocative knowing that she is no longer with us. She sounds like such a vibrant woman, a cool person to grab a beer with.
Right. And this happened in the 90s? I can't believe people were up to this back in the year I was born..... The 90s will always be my innocence. My childhood. Videos like this corrupt my perception of the 90s. The truth is that creepy weirdos have always existed @@shay5839
The digging and research this channel does is amazing.. I’m from Europe and the way and pace you tell these stories makes them very easy to listen and understand as well. I also love that you find stories that are not already over done too many times.
the thing with practicing bdsm/kink is the importance of RACK and SSC (risk aware consensual kink and safe sane consensual). it can be argued that wanting to die is a case of insanity in the literal sense, so it no longer falls under the typical hounds of consent. as any active members of the bdsm community know, it is incredibly vital for personal and community safety to be incredibly vigilant about practicing safe kink and being rigorous about consent. i find it hard to believe that any active respected member of the community would look at this case and declare it safe, sane, or consensual, or risk-aware. there’s a clear line between wanting to cause/experience pain or death during sex or other contained scenes and actually violating someone’s boundaries and straight up killing them. it’s called a conscience, and having morals. kink does not a killer make i think it’s entirely likely that she started perusing intense sex sites as a way to profit off of them, and the prolonged exposure to violent pornography impacted her relationship with sex. very tragic
I know you feel like you need to defend this “community”, but no amount of euphemistic or sanitized language can make it seem safer to anyone willing to regard it at face value. No offence. Sex addiction is a real and often overlooked problem, and “communities” such as bdsm or kink only help those suffering from their fixations, and addictions to become further entrenched in them.
You cant consent to murde,r the same way a child cannot consent to s3x. So many killers get scot free because they claim the victim, who cannot talk, claims they wanted it. We don't know if she changed her mind and begged him to stop but he didn't, we will never know. Awful case.
I cannot imagine she actually enjoyed any of it. Sure, she thought she would have, but three days of being tortured? I feel like she would have been trying to back out, but we will never know
@@LeAnnBurnz That's my thing. It's not impossible or even that uncommon to think you want something, but then you start to get it and second guess or even completely change your mind. @@mlk0-0 I agree. @@LeAnnBurnz Absolutely, and considering that this guy wasn't just someone willing to "satisfy her fantasy", but also someone who, for himself, *wanted* to hurt and kill someone, it's very easy to believe she wanted it to stop and he just didn't. @@LeAnnBurnz that is YOUR opinion though. I also cant believe people are so weird in t heir mind to want people to hit them with whips or anything to inflict pain which is absolutely against human nature to prevent pain. so each to their own.

My jaw dropped when you mentioned the child stuff in his house 🤢 so disgusting I wonder if she knew he was into that as well and if so .. she was just as sick as he was. Im relieved to know he won’t be able to harm any children as that’s what that stuff eventually leads to from what I’ve seen
I have a feeling she had to have seen it and it doesn’t sound like it would have bothered her. Hate to say it but I don’t feel sorry for this lady. She sounded like a bad person with the scams she was running and then being a degenerate didn’t help her case. Such slimy gross people. I feel bad to not feel sorry for her, but…🤢
@@Jls728Absolutely agreed. And considering all the wild nasty stuff these two were talking about/what she was advertising I’m SURE he must’ve brought it up at some point to her. Ah yes, this one...I'm certain you absolutely cannot consent to your own murder, and even if there isn't explicitly law directly addressing it specifically, no one sane would consider that a "with sound mind" desire. And someone willing to do it, like this guy, is *insanely* likely to be a danger.
Eh, don't think you can call this a murder. Prison is supposed to be for handing out justice, correct? She literally said please don't prosecute the man if her body is found.
@@Site17 Eh, we can't be certain it's not either, and I was answering the question in the title, not if this event was legally murder. Regardless, the point is to question if her "consenting" to it is even legally possible, so it doesn't matter what she said. Even if we're willing to believe his story that it was an accident, which I don't but also suggests the possibility that she didn't "consent" to that element, that would be manslaughter.
@@mlk0-0 With something like this the guy isnt just someone "Willing to do it." You know he had to the opposite need for this to work. Which means he was hunting on the internet to find somone who he could kill for his own gratifaction. Sex or no sex doesnt even matter at that point. Cleary a murderous mind and like you said insanely likely to be a danger. Just found this... Yes he is dangerous: "police discovered child sexual exploitation material in Glass's home, leading to additional charges" Those kids couldnt consent. Clearly Glass doesnt actually care about consent. Which opens up the sad possibility that she DID back out but he STILL went trough with it. But we can never know. Only he could. But hes also dead now.
@@StopmotionStudios13 I think the exact same. Mentioned it in someone else's comment that possessing CSAM and the fact that *his* desire was to kill someone, I'm not believing 1) that it was an accident and 2) that she was 100% for it all throughout.
@mlk0-0 Exactly. I dont buy him saying it was an accident either. For starters, why not seek medical help if it was an accident. Surely you would realize the 900 pages of mail doesnt really help the accident story if you dont treat it like an accident. But even regardless of that. To me it feels off because it exposes something. Her dying in an accidental way shouldnt matter if he believed in his own "doing it with someone who wants to die makes it okay" theory. He knew the evidence would say she wanted it. There were 900 pages after all. If he thought that was his way of doing it "legally". Then why not follow through with that theory. Why frame it as an accident at that point. Maybe because he knew what he way doing was murder. And if he knew it was murder. He should be sentenced for murder.
Its always a tightrope talking about these kinds of subjects and you walked it beautifully. This is such an interesting and tragic case and I think you handled it with respect for both the victim's agency and the reality of her death. There were a lot of places one could drag her for her choices, but you, always, kept it professional and stuck to the facts (like the economic consequences of allowing Gaintesses to run rampant!). Always love your vids, this one was well worth the wait!
@@cakes6537 Depends on which kind of murder (moral, legal) and where it happens. Not all assisted suicides are cases of murder, on that I would agree. There are places where it is legal, and not every instance is immoral.
In sane circles, having a fantasy centered around dying is called suicidal ideation... Even if she did consent, in the strictest definition, it was still murder. I briefly heard about this woman from my ex-who was VERY into some of the extreme kinks listed, and even desperately wanted to get ME into them despite being asexual- but I never knew the entire story. Gave me bad vibes then, and it looks like I was right. I feel for her- I've attempted to off myself 7 separate times in my life, and at one point things DID cross over with kink fantasy. I had some very, very kind online friends in the kink circles I was in who convinced me to get HELP, like normal, sane people. Safe, Sane, Consentual. Kink should be enriching, not a gateway to true inhuman depravity and suicidality. This sucks.

In most countries an individual cannot waive their own rights, therefore no matter how willing a participant is in their own death if someone else does it, it's murder. This is why exceptions like medical assistance in dying (MAID) has to be granted from the state.
You cant read their mind. I dont think it should be legal but if youre an adult and aren't deemed unable to think properly for ypurself, you can consent to whatever you want
@@SilencedLamb69if you would consent to your own murder, then you aren’t in your right mind and legally aren’t capable of making decisions for yourself.
Oh, boy. I clicked so fast! This case has interested and haunted me for years. The movie based on it, "Downloading Nancy" albeit bleak and insular, is one I keep coming back to, as well. Difficult to watch but worth it, in my very humble opinion. As for the question of murder: I think we will never truly know because we don’t know definitively about her final moments. If she changed her mind, if she struggled against that rope, if he just went ahead with the act regardless of her desires. It's a complex event. I think she clearly participated in her demise, but to what extent? Knowing that Glass had other dark motivations of a criminal nature just muddies the waters here. Thank you for this piece - thought-provoking without sensationalism.
Your videos always take very good care of the victims and address nuance with delicacy and empathy, and I've always appreciated it. But this one goes above and beyond; I cannot express how warming it was to hear how gently you handled the heavy BDSM components of this while making sure to draw the line between what the community finds acceptable and what is outside the limits; so often situations like these tend to get painted in broad strokes that taint the image of the community, and not only did you go out of your way to not do that, you even explicitly stated that difference, and also advocated for safe play research - I don't think I've ever heard of any true crime researcher doing that and it's all so true - so much (safe) practice, prep and research goes into those sorts of scenes to keep them safe (when done correctly) and I've just never heard that acknowledged so well before - so, thank you. Thank you for handling this victim with the grace she deserves and for going above and beyond with your care for the community. As for murder or not - this one is really hard for me. While on one hand, I'd want to argue it's never okay to help someone die, you should always try and help them even if they themselves want it - but then that gets into some medically-assisted suicide for terminally-ill folks that I wouldn't necessarily put into that same category. I think, with some nuance, in this case, no, it's not okay - in part because we can't confirm she was consenting through it all the way, but also if she really was, she should have gotten help instead. But thank you again for all your care and compassion.

Cannot begin to fathom what Robert's wife felt discovering all his....disturbing internet 2nd life. Sounds like a horror movie. I'd leave everything behind and just walk out the door.
It could definitely be used to support a custody dispute; but, unless his exwife found the CP images or proof he'd committed a crime, the police wouldn't/couldn't do anything at that time. It's not illegal to fantasize or be a creep.

Should cover the “Cash for Kids” scandal. It happened in the area where I grew up and it was absolutely disgusting. People would brush it off and just say “that’s just how things are done around here” which was them acknowledging and accepting how corrupt things are in the area. I was actually a victim of the corruption when I was a teenager in different situation where over 200 kids were subpoenaed so they could try to label as many of us as drug dealers as they could so the District Attorney would get re elected. It ended up being 50 of us arrested and only two were actually dealers. That wasn’t nearly as bad as Cash for Kids but still an example of the kinds of things that would happen. The assistant DA, Kathleen Kane who was assigned to my situation would go on to be convicted of selling off information when she became Attorney General of Pennsylvania. Cash for Kids had a documentary made about it but it’s still something worth exploring in this context. Just a suggestion…
I actually emailed yall about this case a while back and I was shook 🤯seeing it as a new episode! I think yall did well explaining this case. I stumbled upon this case years ago and noticed how very few crime channels or podcasts covered it. This case always intrigued me for many reasons and left me wondering why. Overall, I think yall did a great job with the breakdown of this case and handled it in the way that dreading does best!
Well crap. This happened like ten minutes from my childhood home (in the middle of nowhere). I would have been two. I guess you never know. Thank you for the encompassing, objective video!
You can't "accidentally" murder somebody. Murder is always prodecuted as the intentional killing of somebody. Also I dont think it was an accident and he's just lying. But I disagree you shouldn't be able to consent to it. She went into that situation with a disregard for her family because she cared about dying more, and she got her wish. Hopefully she's at peace, at least.
I find it hard to believe Sharon did not express interest in child SA herself, given her pattern of matching the freak of whomever she spoke to and her advertising that *nothing* was off limits to her. While she may not have made any giantess movies, I'd like to know the origin of the csam Robert had and if any was made or distributed by Sharon who seemed willing to do literallyanything for money. No victims coming forward isn't proof she had no victims, considering how much shame is attatched to these crimes, it was weird for Dreading to say that definitely.
Oh yeah that’s a good one. It was so strange how he stood in the exact same stance in everyone of the pics with the other lady’s undergarments. I wondered if he was gay but his upbringing and lifestyle forced him to bury his urges and hide them, ultimately creating a fantasy that led him to stealing panties and doing anything to hide it. Yikes man, humans are weird.
It’s certainly a one of a kind case, but it’s really been covered by every single true crime channel, so I’m not sure if they would bother with it. It’s been like 15 years since his crime spree ended, so I’m sure there’s some interesting updates. If you haven’t watched it yet, I would highly recommend checking out Matt Orchard’s documentary, it’s best one out there imho.
Y'all make wonderful videos, but one super-tiny point of correction: "showcased" does not mean "showed". I feel like you use "showcased" like 4 or 5 times per video, but the vast majority of the time you're using it where "showed" is actually the correct word.
I believe it was murder because many things can be a fantasy, thinking you want something until it actually happens that’s the gap. We don’t know if she ever changed her mind during the acts. That alone makes it murder because would he really say oh and she changed her mind after I inserted the knife, however in her emails she said keep going even if I say stop…. Consent can be withdrawn at anytime.
If Sharon was masochistically suicidal, Robert was sadistically murderous. He should have been charged with first degree murder and put away FOR LIFE NO PAROLE.
Uk law changed recently. You cant use accidental suffocation in sex as a defence anymore as there were too many cases of women being murdered and “an accident during sex” being given as an excuse. Not no more!
That's so fucking gross dude. How do you accidentally kill somebody during sex? No, man........ Why did anybody ever accept that?

The consent to own murder was somewhat tested in the UK with a bizarre case involving two teen friends. One of them pretended to be a third person and convinced the other teen to murder his friend (actually himself). The murder didn't happen but when the truth of it came out the first guy was convicted of procuring a murder - his own.

Right, it's like with minors. Even if you could convince a cop that the kid fully understood what it was consenting to, it's still illegal to sleep with minors, so you're going to jail either way, consent or not.
I'm 99% positive there's a few cases where the victim sought out their killer and they all did prison time.

@@oren1305Yeah of course. Nobody said you couldnt revoke consent. The question is why would you do something like that? Why not just .. not do it?
I'm not brave enough to submit the FOIA and read through all the emails to say one way or the other though.
or maybe he knew that it being consensual was still against the law. and didnt want to get in trouble.
@vamp2250 I must have missed that, he ate part/s of her?
@vamp2250 he ate her??
it sounds to me like he wasn't even trying to really hide it, given where and how shallow she was buried. to me, it seems like he felt he did nothing wrong and therefore had nothing to hide, which is also why he went back to work as usual after it happened
Was this the case with the pig pseudonyms for who eats the other one?

This is one of the few true crime channels I can watch on here. It focuses of the victim not just the perpetrator. Very respectful, and well mannered coverage.
I was obsessed with her case for ages and she is so insanely underreported on. Thank you so much for this
It’s not really something people care to report on because it was just two consenting adults. It’s a curiosity more than a case that required a lot of investigating and with a victim and perpetrator. There was a perpetrator but not really a victim and certainly not a victim that will have people’s sympathy.
I think she was insane
Well well well
You weird
oh man..........THIS is why i'm always game to hear your take on a case i've already learned about: you take the time to actually illustrate the person sharon was. it's really easy for us to get lost in her fixation on violence and pain, but before there was "nancy carlsen" making whatever videos men requested, there was an ambitious young girl whose only offered prospect in life was to be as well-behaved as possible and spend her life stagnating. with that reminder, and the knowledge that her parents won't even fkn CLAIM her anymore, i honestly can't blame her for wanting to die. it's so much easier to just look at sharon as some deranged, depraved deviant, rather than an isolated woman who hated being alive and only felt a sense of control in her own life by choosing to endure pain. it's tough to say whether sharon might still be alive if she'd gotten psychological help, because we don't have any way of knowing how receptive she might have been or whether she really even wanted someone to save her. her death instinct ultimately became so much stronger than her survival instinct that i'm not certain she would have even wanted to be saved.
another mark on the board for the insecure attachment industrial complex, i guess. i hope sharon is finally at peace.
I feel horrible for her husband!
@@power-of-overdrive- so very thoughtful… thank you for your comment.

Survivors of jumpingnoff golden syate bridge say they changed their minds on the way down
people who go to great lengths to make sure their suicide is successful, still fight in their final moments.

Twin peaks shit.
I had this problem with someone I consider "the love of my life that got away"
It was to that extent but with knives too, it made me so uncomfortable and when I couldn't do it I was cut off completely, I still think about it sometimes.

My thoughts:
I think Robert should have been prosecuted even if he wasn't a predator.
I actually feel really safe with her. that's when I realized that I needed to find people that know they could take advantage of me, but instead choose not to because they genuinely care about me
Kink is really weird to establish boundaries on because the whole thing about it, is sexual deviancy. Different people have different extremes, and I found people whose extremes seemed to revolve around hurting me especially when I revoked consent

the thing with practicing bdsm/kink is the importance of RACK and SSC (risk aware consensual kink and safe sane consensual). it can be argued that wanting to die is a case of insanity in the literal sense, so it no longer falls under the typical hounds of consent. as any active members of the bdsm community know, it is incredibly vital for personal and community safety to be incredibly vigilant about practicing safe kink and being rigorous about consent. i find it hard to believe that any active respected member of the community would look at this case and declare it safe, sane, or consensual, or risk-aware. there’s a clear line between wanting to cause/experience pain or death during sex or other contained scenes and actually violating someone’s boundaries and straight up killing them. it’s called a conscience, and having morals. kink does not a killer make
i think it’s entirely likely that she started perusing intense sex sites as a way to profit off of them, and the prolonged exposure to violent pornography impacted her relationship with sex. very tragic

And unless what could be determined she suffered directly matched up with specifically what was in the emails and *only* what was in the emails, it's hard to believe and impossible to prove she didn't change her mind.
@@mlk0-0 I agree. To me, It doesn’t matter how masochistic a person may be, especially when it was stated he was putting foreign objects inside of her that were leaving cuts and was doing that for days on end. I feel like no one can endure THAT level of pain and want it to continue. I can’t imagine she wasn’t begging him to stop and he just didn’t listen
@@LeAnnBurnz Absolutely, and considering that this guy wasn't just someone willing to "satisfy her fantasy", but also someone who, for himself, *wanted* to hurt and kill someone, it's very easy to believe she wanted it to stop and he just didn't. He had CSAM, that doesn't exactly scream someone who actually cares about consent.
@@mlk0-0 yup, exactly. He never intended to let her leave, even if she wanted to
@@LeAnnBurnz that is YOUR opinion though. I also cant believe people are so weird in t heir mind to want people to hit them with whips or anything to inflict pain which is absolutely against human nature to prevent pain. so each to their own.

Thank you Dreading ❤ Its always a better day when you post us a new video.
(I also love when your narrator breaks character, it's always so perfect😂)
You're both appreciated.

Yes he is dangerous: "police discovered child sexual exploitation material in Glass's home, leading to additional charges"
Those kids couldnt consent.
@mlk0-0 Exactly.
I've been with you since the early days of your channel. It's awesome to see how far you have come! Sending love and light...🖤🧡
Never thought I'd see consent and murder in the same sentence. Crazy.
Reminds me of the armin mewes case.
It's called assisted suicide.
@@theincrediblefella7984 This implies that assisted suicide is murder tho. It isn't.
@@cakes6537 what is it
@@cakes6537 Depends on which kind of murder (moral, legal) and where it happens. Not all assisted suicides are cases of murder, on that I would agree. There are places where it is legal, and not every instance is immoral.
I've always been both fascinated and saddened by this case. So glad to see y'all are covering it!
This sucks.
20:24 "The house was a *gah dam* mess."
That was so out of left field that I laughed my ass off when I heard it.😂

Sarah Boone is enjoying this so much, I do not like her smiling all the time.

Thanks, Dreading. Your videos are a must-watch! 😊🇮🇪
In most countries an individual cannot waive their own rights, therefore no matter how willing a participant is in their own death if someone else does it, it's murder. This is why exceptions like medical assistance in dying (MAID) has to be granted from the state.
These videos are always so well done. We appreciate you.

It's long been established that one may not consent to being murdered. Also, one may not sell themselves into slavery.
As always, very well done! Such a sad story.
probably the best crime channel ive come across. always new content, specific titles, storyline is structured. thank you
I don't think anyone can truly consent to being murdered. The consent is coming from someone who most likely isn't sound of mind.
Assisted Suicide is basically what she is asking? It’s illegal in USA except Oregon?
@@SilencedLamb69not suicide

I am endlessly fascinated by this case. I appreciate you covering this!
I like that movie too. The adaptation is more interesting to me than the real story tho. Nothing has ever been made in film like it.
🤢

Cannot begin to fathom what Robert's wife felt discovering all his....disturbing internet 2nd life. Sounds like a horror movie. I'd leave everything behind and just walk out the door.
I would show it all to a divorce attorney and the police. Get divorce and keep him away from the kids

Thank you for the encompassing, objective video!
I'm so proud of you two brothers dreading!!! I look forward to every single video, your lovely voice and humor.
Unless you didn’t see someone get killed.
You must cover Colonel Russel Williams, with updates since he's been imprisoned
What’s new with him in prison?
Yeah…weird man for sure!😂
Y'all make wonderful videos, but one super-tiny point of correction: "showcased" does not mean "showed". I feel like you use "showcased" like 4 or 5 times per video, but the vast majority of the time you're using it where "showed" is actually the correct word.
Love your channel and all your content!! I was pleasantly surprised to see a new video from you!!
i absolutely love how monotone ur outbursts are and the witty jokes you weave into discomforting topics. this is why i have you subscribed.
I love the shorter video’s! Thankyou!
If Sharon was masochistically suicidal, Robert was sadistically murderous.
