Ms. Morrissette, PLEASE release this as a single! The message is so powerful in the show, Jagged Little Pill. The world needs to understand this message. This is brilliant storytelling and writing.
Some of her best songs are these bonus tracks. Really worth hunting down.
They used this song in the Jagged Little Pill Broadway musical and I had to look it up because it was the only non-new song in the show I hadn't heard before. I really, really wish she'd release this as more than a bonus track....maybe an album of former bonus tracks.

This is the first time I'm hearing this. I didn't realize this existed until two days ago. This is absolutely incredible.

damn it. just found this and a few other songs i didn't even know existed. i feel robbed and so disappointed that after all these years i missed out on these unreleased tracks. however, i'm so thrilled that i came across them now i have new songs for me to listen to. and yes this songs is powerful and I can relate to it as usual she writes songs that match my life perfectly. love this woman!

don't blame "her label" or "the music business" for these songs not being on the album, Alanis did this album WITHOUT a label and without a contract after her deal with Maverick ended following "Flavors Of Entanglement". she released the album on a small imprint called Collective Sounds in canada and licensed it to Sony in the USA. they asked for bonus tracks for the various american versions and she recorded a handful of extra songs. Guy Sigaworth mentioned it in an interview soon after how they ran back in and did some extra things. the only song that was recorded for "Havoc And Bright Lights" that didn't make the cut was a studio version of "Princes Familliar" that Guy Sigsworth begged her to record as he's loved it for years. she ultimately kept it off the album, much like she did to the original studio version which was recorded during the "Under Rug Swept" sessions

Oh, well there we have it folks..the answer. Still, she should, if possible...get these unheard songs out here for us, .....for her. She has been through alot, and her recovery is through her music, i personally believe. It could help others as well!
I would trade a kidney for Princes Familiar studio, especially knowing Guy was on it.

This song should have been included on Havoc & Bright Lights. I'm thinking it's about an attempted rape. Serious subject that could've been an anthem for rape victims all over. The #MeToo movement came a few years after this was released, unfortunately.
She leaves some of her BEST work off the album. Why would you not include this on the main track list of HABL? Why?

I feel the same way about Permission! Not only would it have been possibly the best song on the album, it's one of her best songs, period. It's so beautiful, and really could've worked as a single imo

From the Havoc sessions, we have this, Permission, Jekyll & Hyde, Guru, Tantra, Magical Child and a decent radio rip of a song we're calling Naysayers because nobody knows what it's actually supposed to be. All here on YT
