Good day Ken brother. Once again you hit it out of the ballpark with the video. America is proud of all you do in preserving the knowledge and history of motorcycles in America. Lol I have that identical bike today since 1990. It's not ever being sold it's a true family member lol. God bless you brother 👍
You have a beauty there. After all these years, I can’t believe how much this look’s like my ‘84 VF 700c Magna. I can still remember standing in the Honda dealership in November ‘83,trying to decide between the Shadow or the Magna. I chose the V4 and never looked back. I never had a lick of trouble other than the soft pitted camshafts which Honda replaced free of charge. Looking back, selling Maggie was the worst decision I ever made.
In 1984 I was trying to get the MAGNA V65 / 1100 HONDA, and my credit union would not give me the extra 1000 dollars. So I ended with the Honda Shadow 700 6 speed! Awesome bike! Thank you so much and God bless!
My dad had one when I was born. Almost identical, save for the pipes and sissy bar. They even have an old photo of tiny little me, wrench in hand, going at the rear wheel. That was around 1992. Bike has long returned to the earth.
That was my first street bike when I was seventeen. I didn't realize how much I liked it. HAHA. Didn't think about how new it was when I owned it. Mine was a recovered theft. I had to replace the ignition lock and a couple of broken parts. They are still a great looking bike.
I grew up on a shadow with my dad, I remember him never working on it ! That is what made me buy my shadow Ace! I ride it daily and never do anything but little up keep but never anything major. They start and run every time I hop on it! Long live the shadow
Ken. You want to go on market place. Guy out of Hudson Mass has a fairly large collection of vintage dirt bikes. Lots of pictures. Everything Honda Suzuki Yamaha and a few kawi's. Parts parts parts. A 97 cr 500, 89 cr 500, 85 cr 500, 82 480. I know you like the big bore's. 81 rm465. 82 rm500. 92 wr 500. 81 & 87 yz490s.
Same, I have an 1100. It hasn't been on the road in 10 years, but I'm going to be going through it and get it roadworthy again this spring. Great bike, I can't wait to start riding again.
They went to 700cc because of a tariff the U.S. put on bikes over that displacement. It was to help Harley-Davidson. And it was "Sabre" and "Magna". My dad had a V65 Magna that was a FAST cruiser. Those Honda shaft drives were fantastic. So smooth and have a cool little "whir"" to them.
Scooped my '99 ACE deluxe last year with only 1700 miles. A saw a guy in our shadow group yesterday who has just over 220,000 miles on his daily Honda Shadow. Suddenly I didn't feel too bad about putting a few more miles on mine lol.
That's a beauty, was just looking at an 1986 700 shadow in red absolutely mint condition with 8k miles on her in the local buy and sell for 1600 euros.. I was thinking that bike is sweet and would make a nice every day bike but this one is way more my kind of style! I love the shape of the tank and fender, the whole bike has a kind of a shape to it that really gives off a really cool vibe
The 1984 Honda Shadow 750 was my first bike I bought in 1986 used, with 6,000 km on it paid $2,500 I drove the s*** out of that bike I even took it on the dirt trails I even jumped with that bike drove it in the winter I live in Northern Ontario Canada put 60,000 km of hard hard riding it never let me down I sold the bike because my brother took a ride on it and wiped it out and it was all scratched up I didn't like it anymore but the best bike I have ever owned for sure.👍👊
Hey lol I'm from Northern Ontario also lol...near Sault Ontario and I had an 83 Shadow 500 back in 83 lol...and I bought a used 750 Shadow a long time ago (it's in my barn now needing work)....I also jumped jumps on my bikes and road many many bush roads...I even was way up North of Chapleau Ontario on logging roads along time ago tree planting...Drove my 500 Shadow out to Vancouver, lived there awhile and drove it back eventually....SOLID bike!
What did you give for it? I'm looking at an 86. It has 36,000mi though it is ready to ride. Rebuilt carbs and bearings. New battery & led lights . Good clutch. I hear guys saying they gave 800 or 1000 for them. Though those are typically more for wrenching on than riding on.
If you look really close to my picture for my account, the bike I'm sitting on is the same model. That bike and I made two trips to Rolling Thunder and that picture was taken on one of those trips.
I got a 1987 honda shadow 700vtc shaftdrive 6 speed one until l bought it,l just rolled it over to27,000miles the only difference is mine is the the glory pearl candy red ,other than that they pretty much the same bike it ride an drives smooth as a cardiac
i got a 86 shadow for my first real bike about a year ago i came to a stop and got ram over by the suv behind me and pined between the bike and the suv the next day when me and my bro went to go get the bike from the tow yard it started right up and my bro drove it home only bike that I'm aware that can be used as a car ramp then ridden afterwards never leaked a drop of fluid on the ground so yha bullet proof!!!!
@@leezybreeze1299 Can't say I blame you As a much younger man I had an 83 V45. Man I loved that bike. 40yrs later I bought my second bike, a 17 Harley Breakout Loads of torque I'd buy another V45 or V65 clean in a heartbeat. Send me back to my twenties !! When I enjoyed life
Im looking at buying a garage kept '86. It's got 36K on it though. What's a fair price? New battery, rebuilt carbs and wheel bearings with led light all around. The new paint job prob kills any collectors/antique value. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Sorry for asking. I'm looking to buy same bike in my country, but I'm not sure if it not going to too small for me, not by engine but size. How tall are You?
I have one sittin in my garage is anybody wants it. Been sittin for a few years in garage. Needs carb work thats about it wires and fluids may need a change.
Wow! So you aren't free to own private property? You have to pay to own objects in Connecticut? That sucks man.. I can't wait until we get America back, either here, or some place else.. that's how America was started, some place other than England.
I'm still riding my 84 Honda vt700 with 36k miles. My wife's convinced the bike will be something I pass down to my children. Simply indestructible
Honda were so far ahead of the curve with these bikes. Better than the modern "retros" being made today!
Your not kidding! What happened in our world...I want ANOTHER one of these...just like this...nothing more nothing less...brand new!
I just bought an 85 shadow only has 8000 original miles! I love it

PLEASE tell me this bike is still available! LOL....2 years ago now but here's HOPING!

I had a 85 vt700c when I was 15 back in the early 90s that I traded my 88 cr250 for . I rode that thing everywhere. Even on the trails at times. Lol
Thanks for bringing back the memories bro!
Much appreciated.
I miss my Honda Shadow 750. Great bike!
Stay safe and healthy.
Peace
My first bike was a shadow loved it I was 15 and I sold it with 70,000 miles I believe
Going to be buying one of these saturday (hopefully)
Great to see one online of what it should be like after I fix it.
I have this exact bike and I absolutely love mine also
I had one identical to this I kept the original exhaust on but I ended up trading it and wish I hadn’t! The seat was very comfortable for long rides!
My dream bike in high school.

I didn't realize this bike pumped out 70 HP. That kicked the hell out of the 920 Virago.
Love it! I have an original shadow from 1985.

very cool! Happy riding my friend.@@sgtpepper1138
I had that exact same bike. Even with the add on̈ back rest. Awesome.!
First bike I've owned and driven, 1986 vt500c same color scheme and backrest with highway pegs. 16k miles
Honda's shaft driven bikes are the way to go The Sabers and Magnum had over 100hp back in the 80s the competition was Yamaha's Vmax

That bike is killer! Reminds me of my old v30 Magna
